Fantastic Pipe at an Unbeatable Price
I've been waiting years for a pipe like this, a totally natural bowl with no finish. I think it allows the pipe to "breathe" better and be easier to clean. If it ever gets really unpleasant due to tars I have the idea of soaking the bowl in a neutral spirit and then dry out to sweeten it which can't be done with a typical finished bowl of coarse. It's light weight and the acrylic mouthpiece is very good with the bit not uncomfortably thick as many are. Smokes very dry and cool. Being a totally natural pipe I reserve it for my more natural English blends. This pipe is even better than the pipes I've paid three times as much for. I can't wait to get more.

perfect size and weight
I love it! It can't be more perfect in size and weight and it smokes great too!

Perfect
This is a fantastic pipe. First and foremost, it smokes great. stays cool, doesn't feel too heavy, has a seamless build and looks very clean. Mine has already started to color a bit with the oils from my hand, but the color is rich and the way the grain shows through really makes for one of my favorite pipes. for me, its a perfect blend of form and function.

Great natural pipe
Great pipe. Very comfortable to hold and as you smoke it the oils in your hand will bring out the grain.

Stanwell Authentic
Disliking shinny stuff, I have sometimes buffed out the varnish on some of my pipes. So, I jumped on the occasion to own a pipe without any varnish at all from the start. Just what I wanted, beautiful briar that will acquire a natural patina from age, wear and smoke. It’s a beautifully made pipe. As far as its principal object is concerned, it offers the cool and dry smoke you can expect from a Stanwell. I do hope more options fitted for a 9mm filter will be available in the future.

Stanwell Stands Well for Stan
I have a model #63 circa 1980 that still serves me fine but I couldn’t resist getting another plateau briar 63 in natural without stain or polish.

Absolutely Authentically Amazing!
I received my Stanwell Authentic 15 three days ago, and have smoked it once every night since. Normally I'll let my pipes rest a bit more between smokes especially when new, but I wanted to put it through the paces to see how it holds up, and it's doing just fine. In those three smokes I've loaded it twice with Cornell & Diehl Belmont Station and once with G.L. Pease The Virginia Cream. From the very first smoke, this pipe smoked absolutely fantastic, like a well seasoned briar. The consecutive smokes were just as good, with no gurgle and few relights. The pipe's condition was actually better than it's unfinished Savinelli counterparts, while there are a few minor flaws in the briar, there are no fills, which stand out like a sore thumb on darkening unfinished briar. And they appear to be sanded smoother than the Savinellis as well. Three smokes in, the pipe is already taking on a nice golden hue and promises to darken beautifully as the grain is beginning to show through. The pipe has a rather narrow chamber as compared to the thickness of it's walls, as it is a substantially sized pipe... think Peterson B42 sized bowl but a tad shorter in height, and a tad thicker in diameter. So this one has walls that are quite thick. I may decide to dedicate this pipe to flakes. The stem is a very comfortable, mirror finished acrylic. All in all I'm very pleased with this pipe and it promises to become a fast favorite in my rotation. If you're looking for a lot of bang for your buck, then this is the bunker buster of unfinished pipes.

All Natural
Just received the Authentic 15 and I must say my money was very well spent. Beautifully made all natural briar with a very generous bowl size for a long smoke. Smokes nice and cool...... Definitely considering adding the Authentic 185 to my Stanwell collection.
