Stanwell Beechwood Pipes

Stanwell Beechwood pipes were created during WWII when briar was sparse but people still were looking for a good quality pipe to smoke. They have brought the pipe back and we couldn't be more pleased with being able to bring them to our P&C Faithful. The light finish exposes the grain swirled around the bowl all tied with a black acrylic stem. The beauty and simple style of these Beechwoods really stands out and will be a fantastic collection piece from Stanwell.

Stanwell Beechwood
I love this pipe. It does stain easily, but that’s okay. The feel is light and fits well in my big hand. The draw is easy, works well with the Stanwell filter. It is also easy to hold in my mouth while I do things with my hands. I often have problems doing that with other pipes. I plan on buying another Stanwell soon. This was a great value.

OK pipe, Great backstory with the history of it.
OK pipe if you get it on sale. Smokes more like a cob as far as heat transfer. Also gets moisture spots near the Tenon and shank area. But colors nicely as you use it. My bent one smokes better than the straight, which is not my usual take on pipes. But, very cool none the less, for the history of the pipe.

Beautiful
Have yet to light it up but the craftsmanship on this pipe is the best I’ve seen

basic good pipe
I smoke it without the filter. Needs breaking in to avoid the smoking wood taste and smell. Bowl gets hot fast. Otherwise, perfect.

This is a good, affordable pipe
This is a good, affordable pipe. It does burn hotter than a briar but is manageable. As another review states, it is easy to burn the rim if you're not careful. It has been part of my rotation so I have only smoked it five times or so, but so far, so good.

Nice pipe, burns hot
I’ve had Stanwell pipes in the past and have always been very pleased. I’ve never purchased a beech wood before but it tends to burn extremely hot no matter how slow you smoke it. On the first use there were black dots that showed up on the outside of the pipe. Not sure if that is normal. Either way, I will continue to use it. Perhaps once broken in properly it will smoke better. Good bowl size and comfortable in my hand, what I would expect from Stanwell.

Like it
I like the pipe, but, gets hot pretty quickly. Have been careful of this as per instructions included. Interesting historical significance.

Beechwood may not be the best choice
I afraid that the stanwell beech wood doesn't hold up to everyday use since it will leak nicotine into the wood and thus on your hands. But I could not ask for a smoother smoking pipe. I just have to go a little easy on use so I ordered another one to share the workload.

A great pipe
I was unsure of smoking beach wood. I have to say its smokes great right out of the box. Smokes cool and smooth.

Great pipe for the money
Don't smoke this one hot! If you do it is likely to burn out quickly. Now onto the good stuff about the pipe. It's a Stanwell and smokes just as great as every Stanwell. The natural Beachwood takes on color as you smoke it, it really makes the grain pop out. I bought this one as a "beater" pipe for when I'm out fly fishing and it fills the bill perfectly.

Very Good Pipe. Simple.
I really like the build quality, look, and feel of this pipe. Even unfinished, it just appears to be a very nice pipe. It smokes very well too. The shipping was very quick and secure.

Nice looking, yet
I was disappointed in this pipe, due to it having burned a hot spot on the first use. The draw out of the box was a bit too hard as well. I've been able to repair the burn out and the pipe is OK now. It IS a great looking and comfortable pipe, I just don't know if it setup survive long term.

Great little pipe
I have one other Standwell pipe and it, too, is excellent. This is my first Beech pipe, and I love it’s light weight and “blond” color. It is also a pleasure to smoke for extended periods as I attack my wood pile here in Taos. Very pleased with this purchase!

Budget friendly with a great back story
Very light and comfortable pipe. Burns a little warmer than Briar. Yet radiates the heat quickly like a Cob. The only issue I have is the lack of shapes and sizes.

Good Smoker
Received as a freebie with the Stanwell 403 offer. At first, the smoke had a slight "woodsy" smoke smell and taste but has disappeared after some caking through use. I get a cooler draw than with my briar pipes. Thanks P&C for this offer. Although it burns hotter than the briar pipes, it seems to breathe better without the wax and finish. Thumbs up!

Light Weight and Protective Coat Inside Bowl
A nice pipe, even smoking that has a good draw, so satisfying that I hope like it says on the box, it will last hundreds of times. Box has some instructions about not burning the top of the bowl while, lighting so be careful.

Great smoke
I love the look and feel of this pipe. The filter didn't take any of the flavor away from my tabacco, and it did help reduce the tounge bite quite a bit.

This was a nice pipe
This was a nice pipe for the price, my only problem with it was that it burned hot, but there are probably a plethora of reasons for that on my end that I messed up on. Otherwise great feel and nice pipe.
