Stanwell Melange has been a favorite aromatic of the P&C Faithful for a number of years now. This popular blend of bright Virginias, mellow toasted Burleys, zesty Orientals and a soft, sweet black Cavendish is laced with fruit and nut essences for a tasty experience with a crowd-pleasing aroma. If you like gentle, fragrant aromatics, Stanwell Melange may be your cup of tea.
I am a dedicated-die heart aero smoker so I am looking to taste something outstanging. This is my second tin and I keep it in my regular rotation.Pleasant light taste, great aroma,no bite or goop left when finished.Only one other tabacco I have ever tried that lived up to the fruit and light taste is Petersons Connisseur Choice. They are both wonderful.
An easy mild smoke. There is a lot of flavors going on, bright and flavorful.Burns well right from the tin. I will finish the tin and feel pleased.
This is an awesome blend. Apricot and hickory is the flavoring it seems, the aroma and taste is to die for, so good! I cannot smoke anything but this since I tried it, very addicting !
This is a nice change of pace tobacco. Tastes great, has a wonderful aroma and is mild to boot.
My favorite smoke with strong black coffee at sunrise. Just enough hint of apricot to seem almost like nibbling on a danish - not overwhelming but delightfully complementary. Due to fact I have heard that it has strong ghosting potential, I have a dedicated MM Diplomat Cob for it.
I opened a tin of Stanwell Melange and to me it smells of apricots and brown sugar. My wife said it smells really good (coming from the wife who normally will leave the room as soon as i open any tobacco). So I proceed to go outside to smoke my pipe and shortly after starting the front door opens and my wife comes out and sits next to me. I was absolutely stunned never in my 5 years of smoking a pipe has my wife come and sat with me. normally she tries to get as far away as possible and promptly says I stink afterwords. This on the other hand was paradise she said she hardly even knew i was smoking as the smell blended well with the smells of spring outside. she even comment that she loves the after smell on my beard a plus for sure. This tobacco tasted like it smelled while being smoked and was to this day the easiest tobacco I have had to keep lit. Only one relight and that was my fault as i set the pipe down while having a conversation with the Mrs. I had no tongue bite at all. I did notice towards the end of the bowl it had a spice taste to it not to far from a spice tea which I really enjoyed. I will definitely be buying more of this specially with the reaction I received from my wife. For those interested I smoked this in a Stanwell Bent Bulldog
A splendid aromatic tobacco that never gets old in my opinion. Best if aged a little, I usually open my first tin and allow it to age for a day or so.
I agree with previous posters. This is a nice, flavorful tobacco. Not goopy AT ALL. Nice citrus/fruity flavor. Different. And good. Found myself wanting more, after I finished !
A nice summer blend. Reminded me of sutliffs Taste of summer. Sweet but not overbearing.
Stanwell Melange has a nice fruity-tart character that sets itself apart. I keep going back for more. It's very tasty. Will be ordering more!
The Stanwell line of pipes is itself outstanding, and when I was sent a sampler of Stanwell's Melange, I was hoping the legendary name would fit the tobacco also bearing the famous Stanwell name. From the outset, I knew I was in for a special treat. Upon cracking open the tin, I was immediately hit by an incredible aroma; a hodgepodge of vanilla, apricot and coconut, with a slight hint of nuttiness. I then wondered if the casing would be overpowering and just lay in the tin and smell great. A pinch told me it wasn't gooey and overdone, and a taste of my fingers confirmed that. The look of the tobacco was very good, a nice blend of burleys and Orientals, with a bit of Virginia and a slight touch of black Cavendish. The quality of the tobacco seemed very good. I packed up a bowl and commenced a char light, and was immediately pleased with the amazing taste and room note. In fact, my non-smoking wife drifted into the room somewhere after the second light and commented that she had arrived in Heaven. I couldn't agree more. All the way through the burn, all the way down to the heel, Stanwell's Melange burned bright and merry, filling the room with an amazing scent unlike anything I have ever smoked. This particular flavor is now a very heavy hitter in my pipe smoking rotation, ousting my previous standby, MacBaren's 7 Seas Royal.
Nice apricot and vanilla (and slight almond) scent in a very non-goopy mix. The blend is a gold and tan color with a scattering of black cavendish. The smoke is enjoyable with a slight sweet taste (from the burley, I am presuming) that doesn't overpower the Virginias and Orientals. Highly recommended and a pleasant surprise, especially the price.
A very good smoke, I detect a slight citrus flavor, possibly orange, don't know if I'm alone in this might just be my palate, I'll have to really pay attention next bowl. Would definitely buy again!
A very flavorful cool smoke. An almost butter aroma and taste. Very satisfying.
This is a wonderful smoke. Don't expect the apricot smell (I don't detect too much of taste here) at first , but once you get it lit well and smoke slowly, you will detect it... so the key here is to be patient. A great room note . .. a great evening smoke with some Drambouie..This will be on my top smoke list along with BCA, RLP6, Very Cherry, and Vermont Meat Candy. I am still exploring.
