Having been a fan of Pete Johnson's Faustos, I was anxiously anticipating the first release of Avion - the same bold blend as Fausto in a long, box-pressed perfecto shape. When I finally got my hands on one, I was blown away, and I'm fairly hard to impress. They change the cigar slightly from year to year, but it's always richly satifying.
The wrapper is a beautiful Ecuadorian Habano, fermented to a dark chocolate brown. The rest of the cigar is all Nicaraguan Cuban-seed with a robust profile. Notes of cocoa, dark roast coffee and pepper greet the palate, while more subtle notes of wood and leather weave in and out. If you love big flavor, you should keep a few Avions in your humidor.
