As mentioned by previous reviewers, there was some looseness in the tenon and mortise of this pipe when I received it. However, after a half-dozen smokes, the wobbling stem has firmed up considerably. Despite these few niggles, it smokes like a dream. Thanks to their stubby build these Tors are excellent clenchers, but they feel so good in hand that you won't want to let them go. I smoke more slowly when I sit and hold the pipe, so now I'm truly enjoying that last leisurely smoke of the day.

Great pipe with poor quality control and fit/finish

I want to like this pipe more. I ordered the Tor 501 smooth, the finish on the pipe rubs off while smoking so I end up with red on my hands, the bowl despite being very thick on the walls heats up a little more than I expected, but not so hot that you can't hold it, and the pipe stem isn't a quality fit and you really have to get some pressure on it to get it in there snug. As for smoking it, it smokes fantastically and the secondary chamber seems to work well. 3 stars because I don't see any reason a hundred dollar pipe should have a finish that rubs off. P&C service and shipping is fantastic.
