Made in Holland by the Royal Dutch factory, the Hilson brand (previously made in Belgium) was bought out by Royal Dutch in the 1980's, and shortly after made obsolete as Hilson pipes were unfiltered and therefore not suited for the European market. In recent years, the brand has been revived with old and new lines added to the lineup.
The Hilson Vintage line consists of classically shaped bowls were turned in the 1960's and 1970's, which means the briar has had decades to cure. Today, the best quality bowls were finished in a light walnut color and stamped Hilson Vintage with the H logo on the mouthpiece.
The Rainer Barbi series are made using models created by the German master himself and lovingly recreated.
