Erik Stokkebye's great-grandfather, Erik Peter, founded the family's tobaccos business. He had a personal affinity for real tobacco flavor, and this rubbed-out Virginia flake is a perfect example of the leaf's sweetness and smooth flavor. Tastes of sweet plum pie, sherry, and smoky fruit flavors hit your palate, and a warm heavenly aroma emits from this 4th Generation tobacco blend. 4th Generation 1855 is an absolute must-try for brightleaf fans.
Of my latest set of tins I purchased to try out, this one ranks as one of my favorites. It has a nice aroma when you break the tin seal, and that aroma transfers well when you smoke it. My wife liked the smell so that is always a plus. It is mild yet complex, has tastes of plum pie, sherry, smokey fruit flavors. And while you smoke it, it takes you back to when you were a kid and would smell that sweet pipe smell coming from grandpa's pipe. I recommend at least trying 1855 to your collection even if you are not into aromatics.
