Came in quite dry; however, a little time in my jar humidor and it was fine. Smokes wonderfully and the room notes are awesome. Great value.

A good smoke, not to wet, and smells good.

Well, it's a good filler. You can smoke it, but it needs something more to make it more like a tobacco for everyday use. I blended half a pound of this with a half pound of Mac Barens 7 seas regular that I put up in April 2018 (what, you don't let some blends age for 5 years?). Turned out very nice with a better smoke and room note than even I expected.and will last a long time. I have many others at the 5 year mark that I'll try blending with the remainder.

Excellent budget priced tobacco, certainly not budget quality. Lights and burns well without any harshness, pleasant taste. I usually prefer non aromatics however this is an exception, anxious to try the english blend. Equates to a single barrel bourbon!

I am extremely pleased with this package. The Roma pipe is well made and it smokes smooth. I guess the real surprise was the lighter. I have a drawer full of pipe lighters some very expensive some bargains and none really well. I reluctantly fueled up the Pipe and Cigar lighter and tried it out. It really works! I have been using it for two weeks and am really impressed.

Blend Goodness

This is my 2nd bag both were good in different ways. Over all it's a cheep way to have good tobacco. Much higher quality than I've ever been able to get for even close to this price. Will buy again

I ordered both the Aromatic and English versions and my review of them is below: 1. Both blends I received were a nice ribbon cut. 2. Both blends were a bit moist right out of the bag and smoked best with a little bit of drying time. 3. The Aromatic wasn't goopy or overly sweet. Tobacco flavor came through nicely. No tongue bite. Reminded me of Lane 1Q. 4. The English was what I would call a light English. By no means a Lat Bomb but definitely there. I found it to be a very pleasant smoke. Would I order again? Yes. I realize the next batch will probably be different than the batch reviewed here, but that's ok. From this experience Best of the Rest is one of the best deals for a pipe smoker.

What can I say? For what it IS, it's not bad. It's basically your standard ribbon cut super value tobacco, like Gambler, or Four Aces brand. The "roll your own" pipe tobacco that comes in regular, menthol, and light? (I call it "pipe" tobacco, because were it anything else, it would be taxed differently). Anyway, it's that, but flavor infused. I wouldn't really call it an AROMATIC but I wouldn't be opposed to calling it flavored super value. It's like if you entered a neighborhood contest of best flavor infused "roll your own" pipe tobacco, and it won. So you took that pipe tobacco and entered it into a nationwide contest of best aromatic pipe tobaccos, alongside Captain Black, Borkum Riff, Sutliff, Mac Baren, and Half Half, and they sort of laughed at you and made you and made you take your product and join the audience, even though back in the neighborhood it still gets a weird sort of respect, you see. In fact, if you're looking to really stretch your dollar, you could probably blend this with some quality aromatics, and it would still be quite pleasant to the general public, because by itself, the aroma isn't bad. It has some bite, but it's surprisingly low for what it is. After blending, you wouldn't really notice it much (if at all). I guess what I'm trying to say is, this is probably one of the best tasting, most well balanced "filler" tobaccos I've had, but I wouldn't want to smoke it by itself. That's probably why they call it "Best of THE REST". 😉

I smoke a lot. This 16 ounce bag will last me 5 weeks. Best part about it, it's good! Medium flavor, nice aroma, doesn't bite the tongue. Way better than a bag of that stuff you would buy in a smoke shop (you know, the stuff that tastes like pencil shavings). There are better tasting and better smelling tobaccos that cost 8 times as much, but this is my go-to tobacco. I also like the English blend, but my family complains about the aroma, so I stick with this.

The aroma was fine. It burned well. The problem is the taste, or lack thereof. Pencil shavings would have been more flavorful and less harsh.

My everyday smoke. Great flavor and pleasing aroma all at a very reasonable price.

I like vanilla aromatic blends and this had enough tones and aroma to fill that need. It did have a bit of a bite, but not too much. Only problem I had was trouble keeping it lit, but for the amount you get ... at that price, you can't go wrong.

First time buyer of this blend. Usually smoke Lane's or the Danish Black but I am really enjoying this and it is amazing value for the price. Nice steady burn to the bottom with almost no bite, nice flavor and my wife allows me to smoke it !! Obviously not a "to die for" tobacco but a genuinely enjoyable bowlvevery time at a great price point.

This is my first review. I have been thoroughly satisfied with the Best of the rest aromatic blend. It’s unlike anything I’ve smoked honestly. It’s flavor is neither this or that, but rather just something special that I will likely buy often because the mix is different with each bag. At a pound of tobacco for this price? Why wouldn’t you try it? It’s the best deal you can find anywhere, and I promise you won’t be disappointed. The bag arrived ready to smoke, I threw it in my corn cob and went after it.

Happens to be one of my absolute favorites. Very very consistent with flavor, smoke, room note and moisture level. It’s a bit warmer if a smoke which I personally enjoy.

I haven't had a bad bag of Best of the Rest yet. The inner resealable part usually comes loose from the bag too easily but some sprayed on water brings the tobacco back into shape.

This is always my favorite tobacco, just like coffee I like to try different ones everytime I order, but it doesn't matter how much money I have spent on other brands this value priced and packaged tobacco has actually always been my favorite, and when I order a tabacco that I don't enjoy too much, I use this one to mix with it.

I've been smoking Best of the Rest since 2019 and still to this day. I tend to stay with the products I like and I can afford. This is by far the Best price and a whole bag can last me a whole month. Makes me very happy. Hopefully wen I am able I want to try out some of the other tobacco. Maybe this month I might try the Norman Rockwell.

Really good flavor and a great deal

Very nice tobacco. Especially considering the price. Mellow, burns really nicely - not too hot or fast. It seems perfectly moist, but doesn't load up the pipe stem with water like some drier/harsher tobaccos I've tried. The scent and flavor fresh out of the bag is a little vague - I have no idea how I'd describe it. It's not my favorite, but it's also not overpowering. And as this will likely change batch to batch I won't knock it. All in all a very nice tobacco and a relaxing, everyday smoke.

I'm about to purchased my tenth or so one-pound bag. I usually mix this 50-50 by weight with any decent black cavendish (whatever you'd enjoy by itself), then load it into clean jelly jars with tight lids, slap a date label on the jar, and squirrel them away in my tobacco cabinet. It's been fun, when sharing this with friends who come over to join me for a bowl or two in my well-ventilated man cave, to ask them what they think of my private blend. Maybe they're all just super polite? 'Cause they usually thank me for sharing my obviously expensive tobacco with them. Some won't believe me when I tell them what I just told you! The aromatic bag I received didn't appear to be mixed but has a very nice flavor and burns well. Tastes much like Sutliff maple walnut. I know the mixture changes from bag to bag , but still a good deal. This is my first time buying Best of the rest but won't be my last.

I've probably smoked 3 pounds of this tobacco and every one had a different smell outta the bag--once even smelled kinda flowery? lol but dang--it always smokes sooo smooth and cool --end up finishing the bag and wishing I had more--for the price you can't go wrong--best smoked in one of your less expensive pipes like a Missouri meerschaum because it may impart a aromatic scent to your pipe but still a great smoke to try

I am guilty. Very guilty of snobbing this blend for quite some time. I tried for the first time today. It was a mild aromatic with hints of caramel and vanilla. No tongue bite and very pleasant.

Best tabacco

Bought ‘Best of the Rest’ for years. Very satisfied with it, mild and tasty.

I bought it for RYO. I blended 1 third of OHM turkish and 2 thirds of BOTR. I didn't have to dry it out since it came with the perfect amount of humidity to be rolled once it was mixed. Very smooth, aromatic, slow burning, and a very nice flavor. I thought it will come with weird mixed flavors but no, it is homogeneous; a perfect and subtle aromatic pipe tobacco blend. Definitely buying this again !!

Meets my needs and is reasonably priced. Shipping time is very good.

I’m on my third bag, I always try to place the flavor quick before it changes & my mind most consistently goes to Nutella spread (hazelnut cocoa). I’m not experienced enough to begin placing exactly what ends up in here but with my budget I know the taste of cheap aromatics & this ain’t that. Keep this stuff flying off the shelves so it stays at this price! Will try the English next.

I quit smoking aromatics years ago. I got this bag free as part of a promo deal, and it has refreshed my interest in the genre. This is a really nice blend with notes of cherry and vanilla. It's not cloyingly sweet, and smokes clean. If I ever run out (it's a big bag) I will buy another. Of course free is the best price, but the list price is pretty great too.

A .tasty, smooth smoke, long cut with a fresh brewed cocoa hint to the room note. No bite but not mild either. I smoke it straight from the bag but mixing has good results, also.

Best of the Rest has been my go to tobacco for several years. Smooth, mildly aromatic, good all day smoke. Sometimes a little on the moist side and the resealable bags don't. That said it's my #1 go to tobacco.

Great value for the money...says its a mix match but I think mine was just some kind of generic vanilla. Hardly any bite, looke to be of quality tobacco, mine smelt like vanilla cake throughout entire bag. Not a bad gig at all.

looking at the online descriptions... It seems like everything but the kitchen sink used in this blend. It was a great price, and a good friend told me about it. So I thought I'd give it a whirl... I honestly didn't expect much. Boy was I surprised.... Mama always said this tobacco was like a box of chocolates.... You never know what you are going to get... No way to describe it. The flavor and aroma not only transition between bowls. BUT BETWEEN HITS. A very tasty and high quality tobacco. I've now had my BOTR for just over a year,at first was very comparable to 1Q when my palate was a little less developed..but now,this blend SOARS above my first impressions.. it's slightly bolder,nuttier,the Virginia content in mine is very up front, Burley is very nutty,earthy,it has a slight plum/peach and smokiness too.im VERY pleased with this blend...still have 8oz.unopened in a jar over a year..gonna be great.

This bag was better than the first bag I ordered The first bag came in a plain plastic bag and the only thing I could taste was menthol.had to doctor it up to make it palatable. frankly i think they screwed the order up and sent me cigarette tobacco. This time it came in the proper bag and it actually tastes like pipe tobacco.

I wasnt sure what to think of this blend at first. Threw a bag in the cart since they were running a deal for free shipping with any order with a LB of this stuff. Man was i surprised and couldnt be happier with this purchase! Have tried MANY tobaccos in the 2 years or so i have been on the pipe and in that time have tried a number of aromatics and every other kind as well. The bag i recieved tastes like a single blend rather than just a BAG OF SCRAPS, it has a Carmel note to it and is not a GOOPY AROMATIC and burns perfectly perhaps one of the best burning aromatics i have tried. Have recieved numerous compliments on the room note scent from total strangers. Took about a OZ with me on a recent camping trip and really got to know this blend during that time. It is sweet not not cloying and will not cause diabetes lol This is one i wish i had picked up another LB since i have no idea if it changes over time but will be jarring up some of this stuff for future use, highly recommended to anyone that likes a sweet change of pace or something to add to other tobaccos to help either the burn rate or add a bit of flavor.

Have purchased capt black here for years. Tried diff blends at pipesandcigars, some more, some less expensive than capt black. Saw Best of the Rest. Debated for two days before ordering. At half the price of the capt black I had real reservations on the quality. I pulled the plug and ordered. I am delighted at the quality. I will reorder when running low.

A pretty decent smoke! I don't know if it's true, that this is "floor sweepings" (leftovers, combined), but the net effect is a fairly cool, mild and flavorful smoke. I generally smoke a Black Cavendish, and this is less flavorful...but very nice, for a Change. No harsh Bite, stays lit without trouble, there's a lot to like about this Blend. Especially at this Sale price, it's a No-Brainer! I am very pleased with this purchase. 16 oz. should last me awhile, too. :)

What the HAY is this ? Was very, very hesitant all this time, saw the Best of The Rest bags on P&C but thought it would be a crapper. Only got my first bag because it was free. Opened the bag, delightful aroma, packed a bowl as usually will, lit up, and WOW, was I surprised. Excellent flavor, aroma, moisture content, everything was really good. Sad thing was, as I'm puffing away, I can see a can of Sir Walter Raleigh Aromatic sitting on my coffee table, and although SWR is a great smoking blend, I'm wondering why I spend so much on it when BOTR was there all along at a MORE THAN REASONABLE price.

Each bag is a little unique. Maybe more sweet, maybe more fruity. It is truly a great value and I have been smoking it for many months, regularly.

I have been buying this blend for a long time now. The older type of blend was good, but I believe the new way of dividing the tobaccos is better. I am not an english smoker, so not having the chance any is in the blend is better to me.

I really did not expect much, then it showed up in what looked like a super value pipe tobacco bag and I thought I made a big mistake. I am probably 10 t 15 bowls in and I am pleasantly surprised. I took one start off because no mater what pipe I use or how clean said pipe is I do get a little pipe spit, and I do not smoke a hot bowl. Outside of that no complaints.

OK aromatic. Not great but OK. I remember just getting tired of smoking it and wanting to smoke English. But it changes all the time so I might give it a go again. Give it 3.5 stars.

I'm very pleased with my BOTR pound. Expected sub par mix..but after a couple of bowls, I would suggest this to any Piper that enjoys a flavorful, light aromatic with combination of flavors that can't be easily deciphered...I get chocolate,vanilla,rum,anise,fruit,and other undecipherable flavors(so far) with a slight smoky,peppery,effect..this is a finely cut easily packable, cool burning, perfectly humidified blend.Looking forward to enjoying this over many months as it matures and continues to morph it's flavors.

There seems to be less “flake” and only “cigarette cut” faster burning tobacco. Years ago there was a variety of tobacco in the bag. Not much variety today.

I'm well into my first bag now and I'm really enjoying it. Some of my old favorite flavors with buttery, nutty notes. It's a nice mild blend that smokes well and taste great. I've already ordered another bag.

fresh the day it arrived. its a nice smoke and better than anything off a store shelf at a good price. Well worth trying for smokers of all types.

Sometimes this is a great smoke with the perfect moisture content, other times it isn't so good. Last batch had a touch of latikia which I am not fond of and it was a bit to the dry side, the time before it was perfect. I will continue to take my chances simply because it is the best deal going

Loved it, I ordered it some time ago and I have been enjoying it ever since. Granted I was hesitant due to it being leftovers from the bulk bagging process. But it was a great mix. Kinda reminded me of the tobacco I used to get from my local shop called North Sea.

P&C needs to change their product description and be honest with customers. P&C no longer collects their own leftovers, but buys "leftovers" from manufacturers. My last order of BOTR was packaged by Lane. The product may be fine for many customers, but the source is not as advertised.

Has a pleasant vanilla odor out of the pouch and after lighting with more of a cigar vanilla tone. The flavor is a sweet vanilla. For the price to quantity ratio, you cannot beat the deal.

Satisfied, smooth and didn't get hot like some other tobacco products.

worth it good flavor

I received my tobacco today and it is so amazingly good! The products and service of this company are the best! As if a nice pipe of tobacco and stroll was not enough to remember my grandfather and honor his memory, people stop and comment on how rare a sight it is. People who are involved in cell phones 24/7 are everywhere. A gentleman with a pipe stops traffic in an otherwise weary world.

Been ordering this for years. Always smooth and robust at the same time. Highly recommend for the regular piper that's cost conscious.

I have bought a dozen different types of pipe tobaccos from this store and although this one is extremely cheap it is actually one of my favorites so far. I don't know how much the flavor will differ from month to month, but I will definitely try it again next time I need some.

Smooth taste.

I smoke often over the course of the day and was looking for an all day smoke that was economical and also a quality tobacco.................well I found it! BOTR lights and smokes easy, has no bite, tastes good, and is the right moisture (does not arrive too wet or too dry) and for the price I can afford to smoke it all day.
