A blend of tobacco leaves from Macedonia and the Black Sea region mixed with Latakia from Northern Cyprus and the finest Virginia tobaccos establish the foundation of this Balkan Sasieni English type mixture. Satisfying yet not overwhelming, Balkan Sasieni progresses into an interesting Latakia blend with a smoky aroma. The high content of Latakia provides the Balkan Sasieni tobacco with its unique character and room note making this Balkan blend a one-of-a-kind tobacco experience that is a must-try for pipe enthusiasts alike. Enjoy Balkan Sasieni here at Pipes and Cigars.
Items arrived quickly and well packaged. This particular tin was fresh with strong aroma of it's distinct Latakia aroma. Very pleased with this brand and will order again!
Smooth tasty smoke. Heavy latakia aromas in the tin but much more subdued when smoked. To me it had a very rich peaty, smoky flavor, like a fine aged single malt scotch. In fact my favorite way to enjoy this tobacco is with some Glenfiddich or a good cup of freshly ground dark roast coffee, black. If this was available in bulk, I'd be buying 5# at a time.
Favorite of the two Balkan recipes. Awesome awesome flavor, I cant wait to see the results of the tins I've put in my cellar!
This was my first Balkan and it's exactly what I wanted it to be. Complex, full-bodied flavor without being overbearing. The slight, peppey spiciness on the tongue compliments the flavor nicely.
This is wonderful stuff. One of about 10 blends I'm stocking as funds allow. I find myself smoking this a bit more frequently than my other "treat" smokes. The other treats being captain earl's ten russians, GL Pease Gaslight & Triple Play. Oh, Peterson's Perfect Plug. When I want a delicious smoke that won't clobber me with nicotine or Latakia. It's a luxurious contemplative smoke. I hope to never run out of this. A rare bargain.
Beautiful! This is a delicious blend and a great example of a Balkan. This retails for $17 in California. P&C is why I don't bother shopping at my local stores anymore.
When I first started smoking pipes, I bought and restored estate pipes to build up my collection economically. I was smoking a mild vanilla tobacco at the time, and was noticing a unique flavor lingering from the previous owners tobacco in no less than 1/3 of the pipes. After a while I ordered several English blends, and I hit on the flavor I had noticed. It was in Balkan Sasieni. It has been one of my regular blends for 5 yr's now. The flavor is rich with no bite. I've learned that Perique gives it that taste that makes it distinct. I've tried other Balkans, but Sasieni has remained my favorite.
Just enjoyed another bowl full. Tin has a (to me) heavy Latakia note to it, but once lit isn't that strong. In my pipe, the way I smoked it, burns a little hot, but little to no tongue bite to it. I find it best to smoke slowly. I especially enjoy it when I get home and can sit on the porch, unwind, and watch the world go by. This is something I enjoy and will buy again.
Really enjoyed it. Slightly dry on opening the tin. Spicy nose before smoking. Burns well with very few relights, peppery flavors. I'd definitely order it again.
