Blending - AAA Burley

A very good choice for that burley taste in your blends . It also goes well with existing blends that need a little something.

I smoke a lot of straightforward burleys, and i like this one a lot. I know its marketed as a blending tobacco, but i smoke it straight up, in the biggest bowled pipes, the same way i smoke all my burley ribbons. A large pipe lets it develop deeper flavors before it disappears into ashes. I have purchased this burley more than once, this time i made a substantial purchase in hopes of aging some before i smoke through it all. And yes, burley does improve with age. My cellar has quite a few (currently 5 or 6) jars of burley that have been there for over a year and the tobaccos are noticably different and improved, with an increased intensity of aroma(natural) and nose, particularly the licorice-like smells. I am very optimistic about this all-burley blend in the cellar. If straight burley and mostly straight-up burley blends are your bag, then this qualifies. If ya like blends with white burley, this one has it too (i like white burley, its got the flavor profile i enjoy the most in my burleys). It seems that the white is the best flavored burley and it's use in this blend is just right to me. If yer gonna smoke it straight, big bowl or you might never get to know it. Not sayin you gotta finish the bowl in one sitting, but a big pipe sure helps to bring out the true flavor. A big ol cherry wood or cob, i say. As far as reviewing this for blending...i have never attempted to blend it, i just smoke it (it is a blend in and of itself). I cant give any info on those aspects of this baccy.

I wasn't the biggest burley fan, but this is really some exceptional tobacco... so far it's my favorite straight burley blend. It's bursting with flavor & character with no harshness. I bought this for blending (RYO), but I'm smoking it all up by itself so I'll be back for more!

Excellent smoke on its own, and the primary base for all my Burley blends. Really, really good, no exaggerating.

This batch has much less of the cocoa element as previous versions.

Not quite as nutty and flavorful as the dark burleys but it is a good addition to Virginias. This burley will cool the smoke down, lengthen the burn time and add a little more body to a blend that is heavy with Virginias or orientals.

I use Blending-AAA Burley to cool down my Virginia tobaccos. It works very well for that. The moisture content was just right in the batch that I received. Just out of curiosity, I tried smoking it on its own...Not so good. Not much flavor but, again, it works well as a bending tobacco. Pipes AND Cigars gets 5 stars from me for quality, prices and customer service.

This is the base tobacco I use, with a nearly equal amount of red Virginia. A very good Burley.

I put together a 7 tobacco blend, I used the AAA Burley as part of the base for two reasons--first, it helped to balance the Latakia, Turkish and Smyrna elements and second, it brought the "burn rate" down, since the Virginia and Perique can be a bit on the "quick" side. It did precisely what I intended..

Enjoy smoking by itself,blending with other tobacco.
