Blending - Maryland

Blending - Maryland is a tobacco that is similar in flavor to white Burley - soft and somewhat neutral, but what makes it remarkable is how it burns. It stays lit easily but burns fairly cool. If you have a blend burns hot and/or fast, adding some Maryland can rectify the problem while not affecting the flavor all that much.

Please note: Some of our blending tobaccos arrive in a dry state from the manufacturer since they don't add humectants to these tobaccos. We aren't allowed by law to add any moisture to the tobaccos we sell, so they may arrive rather dry, but will rehumidify easily.

Decent Blending Tobacco
Nice cut, even burning, not as smooth as I hoped but overall a decent blender.

Control Rods😉👍🏻!
A SMOOTH Neutral, Cool Smoke That EASES The BURN Of Those Blends Such As VIRGINIA😉👍🏻! As For ME, It Acts As CONTROL Rods In A NUCLEAR Reactor👍🏻! I’ve NOT Used It With PERIQUE😳🤷🏼‍♂️!

Great mixer
Makes a great mix with Sutliff Vanilla Custard. I use 1/3 TS9 Maryland, 2/3 Sutliff Vanilla Custard.

Maryland vs. AAA Burley
I bought Maryland and AAA burley at the same time. I found Maryland to burn a little hotter than AAA but also burned a litte slower while staying lit, more toasty, less chocolate-like flavor more sourness which for me is a good thing. Both needed a little drying time (10-15 min. in the sun). Maryland is a good burley but for now I think I like AAA better. But that could change especially with blending. :) Smoked straight in and Legend comb.

Excellent solo or in almost any blend
Wonderful by itself, well-balanced blend. One of my favorite tobaccos I've found here. Used in RYO. I'll be back for more!

Wow! Try this.
This is a blending tobacco but I really like it on its own. It really reminds me of Carter Hall, not that it tastes like Carter Hall. The cut is similar and so is the burn rate and the creaminess of the smoke. It does not bite. It is easily an all day smoke. It does blend well as stated by the Pipes and Cigars description.

True to the description
This is a very good blending tobacco. It has little to no bite and a mild taste. It helps to tame high nicotine blends. TS9 MD does not taste like Carter Hall but something about smoking it on it's own reminds me of Carter Hall.

Superior Blending Air-Cured Leaf
This Maryland leaf is excellent for all sorts of blending. It's an air-cured leaf that is a bit thicker and coarser than burley but not as much as say dark air-cured varieties like Greenriver or broadleaf. It has such a smooth and almost neutral flavor with none of the harsher elements in cruder burley grades. Very straight forward tobacco-y aroma with a slight sweet grain character. This could be used to tame a sharper virginia base in just about anything even english blends. A superior air-cured blending component that beats the pants off ordinary burley.
