Blending - White Cube Burley

These tightly compressed little Grape Nuts looking nuggets of white Burley are cool-smoking with a distinctly nutty flavor. I like to use it as the base tobacco for semi-aromatics or American English blends, if I’m trying to keep the burn slow and cool. Moderate in nicotine, slow burning.

Great tasting burner
New to pipe smoking, just playing with blending now- this did a great job of adding substance and body, while keeping things nice and burning between resting.

Blending White Cube Burley, smooth, earthy taste.
Blending White Cube Burley is a smooth, earthy tasting smoke. Very pleasant to me. Very dry and smokes fast if not careful. Packs well. I didn't blend it with anything, since I enjoyed the flavor by itself and onIy had a sample. I will buy it again.

A great smoke
I use 4 oz of this combined with a one dram bottle of Lorann's butternut vanilla oil for one of the smoothest smokes ever.

nice blending leaf
A tasty addition to almost any American style blend. Texture is a bit rough, but it's a nice smoke taken straight.

Cube-cut white burley
Ever since Middleton dumped its line of pipe tobaccos this is what I've been smoking. I just wish you could duplicate Kentucky Club Mild. (Essentially cube-cut white burley.) If you sold that, I'd be buying it.

Good solid smoke
Just what my husband wanted as a replacement for Kentucky Club. A little larger cut than KC but that’s no problem at all. Also try it 2/3 cube cut to 1/3 Sutliff’s red Virginia ribbon by volume. I’ve got a bowlful going right now.

Slooooow Burning
I use this straight up when I want a long, cool burning, tasty and trouble-free smoke. Pack very lightly, just enough to keep in in the bowl. Burns completely, no waste, no soppy residue. Eight ounces of this will give you more smoking time than a pound of any other to pipe tobacco. Pleasant taste and room note.

Cube Cut White Burley Pipe Tobacco
What I actually WANTED was Kentucky Club Mild. Middleton stopped Making it. P&C has duplicated the Mixture but not the mild. Cube Cut Burley is okay, but it burns too hot and I don't know how to fix that. Suggestions are welcome.

Restrained taste as a solo tobacco...but OK.
Tried a bowl straight up before using it in a blend. Seemed dry as purchased but packs well with a bit of springiness. It’s definitely a cube cut. Lights with effort, stays lit well, mild, no bite, tasty smoke, easy to keep lit, cool burning, pleasant aroma and slightly sweet taste. Likely best in a deep bowl. Finishes with clean gray ash and smokes to the bottom, flavor improves as you go. Has potential as a solo but could use a little added moisture. Not quite the same as the natural southeast Missouri cube cut from my past...as mild but not as tasty. Could be an acquired taste as a solo. Look forward to blending it with a bit of black cavendish or sweet Virginia, Latakia and a touch of perique.

Interesting stuff
Tried it straight up and didn’t think much good about it...not like my old cube cut Burley but later on I added it 50-50 to my favorite black cavendish blend. The cavendish always burned a little hot and fast...probably the smoker and not the tobacco. What a difference! My best go-to pipe hasn’t been this good yet. The addition took care of the fast smoking hot burn with negligible effect on the excellent cavendish flavor...I think the basis of my cavendish blend is Green River black...a very tasty smoke. My test mix was almost too easy to do in spite of the totally different physical characters of the two components. Packed easy, lit easy and stays lit easily. Seems impossible that I got this done on the first try but it sure worked out well, accomplishing what I’d hoped for with little hassle. Bowl temperature is lower and duration is improved dramatically. I’ll make a batch to try out over a weeks smoking and see how it stands the test of time but first impressions are very favorable...so, this stuff is indeed a good blender and deserves a second look...I think it’s at its best as a blender. I’ll try it with my other favorites and hope for a similar happy ending.

white cube burley
Good by itself straight out of the bag. Traditional molasses cased, all things burley goodness. Use a windcap outdoors or in the car.

Good blender
I like burley so this is nice to add to a blend to slow the burn rate and cool it down.
