I bought the Brigadier sampler
I bought the Brigadier sampler some months ago and after trying all of them the Alamo was my favorite. It’s aromatic so no fussing from the wife, minimal to no bight and burns fairly cool and I’m a fast smoker. It does take a couple of lights. For a price like the P & C just offered it was a no brainer. 7 Seas regular is still my number one smoke but this is a nice change.

Tobacco is lightly sweet and smooth. It has more than one source of flavor making it a good smoking experience usually not found in low-priced brands.

Pleasant, subtle, smooth
As a dedicated aro-only smoker, I love cavendish, and I love flavor that doesn't bite. I have no idea what nougat and mocha are supposed to taste like, so I had no expectations. Whatever the definition of nougat and mocha flavors might be, all I know is that it was indeed a very "subtle, pleasant flavor, with a nice room note" as described. It could easily be an all-day aromatic, and definitely ties for second place in the lineup of Brig Black offerings.

My favorite
I like a cool smoking tobacco that won’t bite my tongue. This is it. The aroma is pleasant, the room note is fine. It doesn’t require lots of relights. I love to share some with friends!

Favorite blend
Alamo Black has become one of my favorite tobacco's. I'm a 40 year plus pipe smoker and pretty much have stuck with the same couple of tobacco's for many years. But a couple if years ago I tried Alamo and now it's become a daily smoke. I'm a Black Cavendish fan and Alamo has just the right blend. Its mild and smooth and never bites. It has a pleasant room note. I've tried the other Brigadier blends and they don't do much for me but Alamo is a winner with the perfect balance of flavors.

Brigadier Alamo
Bought all 6 flavors, they smoke fairly mild but the flavor and room note is not as strong as I was hoping for. It is hard to tell the peach, cherry and vanilla apart. Quality is okay, just not what I was looking for.

Good Stuff
I'm a beginner pipe smoker, so I got this orginally as part of Brigadier Black Sample. Since then I've bought two more pouches. It's a nice good mellow easy smoke with no tongue bite. It also has a nice aroma.

No complaints here.
Given adequate drying time and smoked with patience, Alamo takes on lively chocolate and vanilla notes and will not goop up your pipes. At least, the handful of bowls I’ve smoked haven’t. As budget-friendly pouch tobaccos go, this one seems superior to most.

Wild Smell but a Great Smooth Smoke
What a great tobacco and smoke. Saw this on sale a few weeks ago and ordered it. Had never tried the brand before and am relatively new back to pipe smoking. At first open it has a wild sweet smell. But it burns with no bite or aftertaste and is an excellent all day tobacco with character. Thanks for putting it on sale

great taste-good smoke
I've tried Antietam, Sherman's March, and Alamo. I rate all 3 blends as 5 stars. They're all great aromatics, without an aftertaste. Good aroma and flavor while smoking.

Great Gift
I bought this as a Christmas gift and it was a big hit. I do not smoke myself but the aroma when the package was opened was great. Will be back on the list next year!

Very Impressed!
This is my second order of Alamo. My first was a precautionary order. I liked the description but until I actually got it in my pipe I was skeptical. I am pleasantly surprised. I'm a 40-year veteran pipe smoker and as one of the "old guys" pretty set in my ways. I'm a purest and don't do chasing after new and exotic flavors-of-the-month. I like a nice, smooth predominantly black Cavendish blend that I can smoke all day without any fuss. I don't want to have to let the tobacco age or worry that it's too wet or too dry. I want the ambiance, the aroma and the relaxing experience that pipe smoking brings to our harried lives. This tobacco delivers. From the first bowl to the bottom of the can it's consistent. A little moist ... a little dry ... doesn't matter - it's good! I don't think my opinion is swayed because I'm from Texas! Well maybe just a little. Remember the Alamo!

11th Cav Blackhorse
I got this from my last order. I have to say I just ordered more and will continue to order more of this. I will be a constant in my regular daily rotation, on the lower end tobaccos I smoke. I must admit I'm a little, since I'm from Texas and live in Mexico, I use it to take jabs at my fellow smokers down here. I have had no problems with my stomach, tongue or throat burn, doesn't burn hot, stays lit and flavor is consistant throughout the bowl. Leaves nice after taste to the pallet. Does start gurgling a little at the bottom of the bowl, but not bad, and doesn't gunk up the bottom of the bowl. Scouts Out

A few survived the Alamo to tell the tale!
Ok, I do have to change my review for this product. Like the other 1 star review, this blend is very heavy on the stomach. I have been smoking a pipe for 20 years, and only pipes. I contacted my friend at meerschaum Pipes and he stated that this blend of this brand was not high grade tobacco. As it was plugging up my 500.00 meerschaum's bowl, shank and stem. It burns hot and bites. So he recommended not to throw it out, as if I would. But to wash it, dry it and press it into a plug using a few drops of your favorite liquor. I like Drambuie... You will want to note that washing the tobacco will remove well over 90 percent of the nicotine. So if you smoke for the Nicotine, you will not want to wash it. Instead, dump the tin on a cookie sheet put it in the oven on 185 deg for about 10 minutes. This will dry the tobacco out enough for you to place it into an air tight container with a few drops of your favorite Liquor and store it for a couple of weeks. However, I do not smoke for the nicotine so I would boil the tobacco to remove the layer of paraffin they add to the tobacco so I can dry it out in the oven at 185 for 20 min. Then add it to a T-Press and add a few drops of Drambuie and press it for 10 days until you get a nice plug.

I like Alex C.'s review. This brand was like smoking not air, and it did upset my gut! Remember, no one survived the Alamo.

I love the stuff. It smells awesome in the can and if you smoke it correctly it tastes just as it smells. I some times mix it with captain black original because I don't want to wait for it to dry out but mmmmmm. Mmmmm this stuff is great

Awesome !!!
If you want something sweet and well balanced and just plain delicious, this is for you. In my opinion it rivals any Cap'n Black blend in fresh smooth good flavor. It's A-1 !

Not bad
Not a bad smoke. This isn’t something I would buy again, as I am more partial to English blends, but if you want something smooth for all day that is a bit aromatic, and won’t break the bank, this is for you.

My favorite Brigadere!
Of the five Brigadere blends I smoke this is by far my favorite. It is very smooth and has a very pleasurable taste. I do enjoy a number of tobaccos, but i ordered another 8 ounce can of this because I'm goin to it that much. Enough said! I m looking forward to ordering Sherman's March, which I hope will cause me to write a review of it.

Plesant surprise
I smoked pipes back in the 70's for long enough to have a favorite blend, however, they are part of history. I started back in April and started buying pipes and deciding what tobacco to smoke. I tried a few blend available locally, but they did not impress me. I got on the web and started reading. Fortunately, Pipes and Cigars, where I bought my new pipes. Brigadier Black Alamo was my first choice, it was smooth, aromatic, people enjoyed the smell of the smoke and did not leave a sting on my tounge. I know tastes are individual, as are smells. If you want to want to experience the pipe world, I recommend this tobacco and while you're start, I would recommend a Meerschaum pipe. The extra expense is well worth it.

Daily smoker
Smooth and cool with now bite. As of now it's my daily smoker. Came a little moist, not that it was such a bad thing. I didn't even dry it out on my second bowl (just to try)and it smoked really well with no gurgle. Recommend it to anyone who wants a daily easy smoke.

Top Notch Tobacco
This tobacco is a phenomenal aromatic! I have been searching high and low for an aromatic that tastes as good as it smells and Brigadier Black Alamo is that tobacco. The mocha and nougat floor is there along with a very mellow tobacco flavor and it is simply a joy to smoke. P&C hit a home run with this blend!

Not to remember the alamo
Blah rot gut! I read alot of positive reviews, however for me I shall not remember the Alamo. Dry mouth, lots of bite, no flavor, and a camp fire aroma. I ended up giving my tin to somebody else.

Cavendish and Burley? Yes.
Really great blend! As a lover of Cavendish, I was a little wary of a 'golden burley' blend, but it has exceeded my expectations. Trying others of the series now...

I love the brigadier black line, but the Alamo is the best of the bunch. Smooth smoking and long lasting.

Finally-A good cherry-flavored pipe tobacco.
Really nice tobacco with an equally nice room note. The cherry toppng is barely noticeable so the tobacco flavor comes through nicely. The flavor lasts to the bottom of the bowl and I have used this in pipes with big bowls. No tongue bite and no "chemical" taste that you often get with cherry'flavored pipe tobacco. I am on my 2nd 8 ox. tin.

Always Excellent
One of my favorites, sweet but not too sweet. Stays easily lit and does not fade throughout the day. Outstanding smoke but at the price can't be beat.

All the BRIGADIER blends are EXCELLENT !
Excellent!!! Six Stars ****** !!! Price is more than right, plus it's American made. I try to buy American whenever possible, but I won't settle for sub-par quality just for the glory of the Flag. Brigadier is the real deal, it is just what it says it is. I've smoke Waterloo, Antietam, Gettysburg & Bull Run on a regular basis. Don't have a favorite yet, I just enjoy one or the other each night, and I mean I really ENJOY whichever blend I'm smoking at the time !!!

Remember the Alamo!
I have made Alamo a 'stock' item. I had the opportunity to try Gettysburg from a friend and it paid off. Alamo proved to be a smooth relaxing smoke. No bite easy draw with no bite or after taste. Great product. Will be testing Antietam soon.

Super tobacco. The aroma is mesmerizing. The first puff ia awesome but the last puff is heaven in a pipe. Highly recommended. You cant go wrong.
KS of Dell Rapids, SD
The tin note is amazing, smells just like hot chocolate or something. Pretty wet out of the tin, so it's hard to get started, but once it does it delivers a pretty smooth smoke with few relights. I enjoy the flavor a lot. Definitely worth the price.

My first try and order from PipesandCigars. Very nice and will try some of the other Brigadier Blends.
DW of Akron, OH
A very pleasant smoke, my wife was not as wild about the room note as some others that I smoke. Burned to the bottom with a white ash. I really like the aftertaste. The mocha stands out. I will buy it again, to smoke when I am not around my wife.

Remember the Alamo !!! This blend is awesome !!! It is exactly how many here have described...Creamy, smooth, No bite at all.. And out of the tin it does have a delightful Choca / Nugat scent. I definately got a slight Choca taste out of it too.. It stayed lit and it burned down to the bottom wonderfully in my Savinelli antique shell #316 . The art work on these tins are phenomenal !! They were rendured by artist Dale Gallon who has depicted some of the greatest battles presented here on these tins. I will definately buy this blend again and recomend it also.
SR of Manchester, MI
Great value on a great every day smoke. Well pleased. I since ordered the 4 pack sampler. Hope it's not a mixed bag.

DH of Ewing, NJ
Such a nice Tobacco -Alamo has a beautiful tin note and the look and feel of this tobacco is outstanding! As far as smoking, I let it dry out a little before lighting with a match in my MM Cob and really do enjoy its “Creamy” taste. Just an Outstanding Quality Tobacco can’t wait to try the other “Brigadier” selections.
