One of my favorites !
I might have just found my new favorite pipe tobacco. Fantastic smell the minute you open the can , nice light maple scent, not overbearing at all. Smokes well, barely a bit unless you smoke it too fast and leaves an excellent room note.

Best of the bunch
I've tried most if not all of the Brigadier Blends and this one is hands down my favorite. Nice maple scent from the can. great room note and no burnt tongue. Will be stocking up on this blend.

A stand-out among Burley-Virginia blends!
To my mind, there is no better tobacco suited for a cob pipe than a first-rate Burley. And, boy, is this a first-rate Burley/Virginia mix. It is an ever-so-slightly sweet blend with a prominent maple nutty flavor. Sherman's March is, in my opinion, the best everyday smoking Burley on the market. If you are a Burley aficionado like myself, give this a try. Its tin-note is divine. It doesn't bite. It smokes cool and even. It burns to fluffy white ash. There is absolutely no gurgle. And the taste is rummy-nutty maple nirvana! And, finally, the price cannot be beat. Highly recommended!

Maple and Rum come through nicely, and the wife loves the smell also!
I really enjoyed the aroma and flavor that came out while smoking this tobacco. I had seen it advertised for quite some time now, and decided to give it a try. Pretty moist out of the can, so leaving it out to dry out a bit is recommended. Overall, though, I'm pleased with this tobacco.

Great for Blending!
Ok, I do have to change my review for this product. This blend is very good tobacco for blending, if you boil it to remove the high sugar content. I have been smoking a pipe for 20 years, and only pipes. I contacted my friend at meerschaum Pipes and he stated that this blend of this brand was not high grade tobacco. As it was plugging up my 500.00 meerschaum's bowl, shank and stem. It burns hot and bites. So he recommended not to throw it out, as if I would. But to wash it, dry it and press it into a plug using a few drops of your favorite liquor. I like Drambuie... You will want to note that washing the tobacco will remove well over 90 percent of the nicotine. So if you smoke for the Nicotine, you will not want to wash it. Instead, dump the tin on a cookie sheet put it in the oven on 185 deg for about 10 minutes. This will dry the tobacco out enough for you to place it into an air tight container with a few drops of your favorite Liquor and store it for a couple of weeks. However, I do not smoke for the nicotine so I would boil the tobacco to remove the layer of paraffin they add to the tobacco so I can dry it out in the oven at 185 for 20 min. Then add it to a T-Press and add a few drops of Drambuie and press it for 10 days until you get a nice plug. I also found that by performing this process the tobacco no longer plugs up my pipe bowl, shank, and stem.

Amazing! I've had many a maple and rum flavored tobacco but none have compared to this. For once I can actually taste the nuances of the rum. Once opened the can smells like someone dumped an entire bottle in. I started this with a brand new Missouri Meerschaum General pipe and it was one of the greatest smoking experiences I've ever had. I guess you could say I kinda liked it.

Sherman's March
Only smoked it a couple times, not a real strong maple flavor but that may not be a bad thing. Decent but not awesome

Homerun! Best value I've found.
After getting 4 tins previously I saw that I needed to add Sherman's March to the collection. Guys, all I can tell you is that for an aromatic blend Sherman's March as well as the other blends in the Brigadier Black series are excellent value for the money. Each smokes extremely well and provide wonderful relaxing atmosphere. I personally highly recommend getting ALL six blends.

Sherman's March knocks it out of the park!
Rum and maple, truly a great great pairing lead to a tobacco with a truly wonderful flavor. No bite, and I rank this up with Alamo as their blend. I will be ordering more!

Thumbs Up!
Being a diehard fan of old codger burleys (PA & Granger) admit found this to be a nice alternative. Distinct aroma & a mild sweetness. Good honest smoke.

Well I usually wait until I have smoked these at least one time, but I am up to my 5th this week. What can I say, it's that good.

Another great BB tobacco!
Sherman's March is one of my favorite BB blends and it's a regular in my aromatic rotation. The rum and maple aroma and flavor is outstanding and the tobaccos are quality. It has everything you want in an aromatic - superb tin note, great flavor, lights easily, burns cool and even, no tongue bite, no goop, an affordable price, and some of the coolest tin art around! Add this to your cart and see for yourself - you'll be glad you did.

Lots of bite
I disagree with other reviewers, this tobacco has a strong bite and bitter after taste
Customer Testimonials
I previously tried Waterloo from the Brigadier Black line, which I thought was pretty good, but this is a whole other level. It's heavy on the burley, which I think works well with the maple and rum. It burns cool, tastes good, and smells better. The smell is more rum than maple, and the taste is nice and nutty from the burley, with the maple sweetness. You won't be disappointed if you like burley.
I liked this a lot. The Maple comes at you out of the tin but stays in the background in the taste, not too sweet, but not in the room note, it makes the place smell soooo good. The blend of Tobaccos comes through to let you know your smokin a real American Blend and the Rum and Maple enhance those Tobacco flavors, does not cover them up. Russ has a good one here. Normally I don't care for Aromatics but this is great!
VERY NICE! With this blend I'm beginning to find my target "Go-too" smoke. As a new to pipe smoker, I've been enjoying the quest. However, my stock includes a number of blends aging in my "but-Why" cellar. This blend has moved to the front of my shelf for when I just want to chill with a relaxing, plesant smoke.. Enjoying the March.
This is awsome tobacco for the price. I was unsure at first thinking it would be like WalMart tobacco but this is a awsome smoke. I would definitely recommend it to new pipe smokers because it is very smooth and mild. The price is more than awsome for the product. Pipes and cigars is awsome and thanks for your great deals.
Nice aroma. Everyone has complimented me on the smell. Occasionally has a bite when I start smoking but mellows out halfway through. I will try the others to find a favorite.
I love it the smell is amazing the taste is great. If you like burley then you will love this. It's my favorite and when you walk into the room you can smell the maple smells so good.Sometimes i like to open my can just to smell it when i'm not smoking it.
I second all of the above!!! Wonderful smoke!!! Pairs wonderfully with a glass of fine Bourbon!!! RWILHELM, Studio City CA
I'll join the chorus. I too like the maple/rum flavor, and it smokes nice and cool. If you're looking for something pleasantly sweet try this.
Loaded up my brand new mark twain corn cob pipe and fired it up. All I can say is wow!! This stuff is awesome !! I love it. You get so much of it in a large can and the smell of the fresh tobacco is mesmerizing. Good stuff all around.
This stuff is absolutely amazing. bite free and delicious. Becoming my everyday go to. Man it's good.
This is the best of the Brigadier Black in my opinion (but they are all pretty good). Burns very cool, and the maple rum flavor is not overpowering. A great burley tobacco. Don't let the price turn you off thinking it is cheap drugstore tobacco. Very good smoke.
Really like this latest Brigadier Black selection. I’m a Burley Blend fan and the maple rum flavoring on this is just fantastic. Highly recommend, find myself grabbing the can just to smell this ribbon cut tobacco. If you’re a Burley fan this is wonderful.
