C'est La Vie

C’est La Vie means “That’s life!”, and this smooth and satisfying, richly aromatic blend will definitely bring your taste buds to life. Made mostly of the finest flue-cured tobaccos, it is gently pressed and cut in the traditional Cavendish method. This process infuses the leaf with a richly sweet and creamy note of French vanilla flavor. Even though the enrapturing aroma will fill the room, the taste is remarkably subtle, and it’s wonderfully easy on the tongue. Take yourself on an intriguing Parisian vacation with the goodness of C’est La Vie.

A very pleasant smoke! The vanilla flavor isn't overpowering and lasts until the end of the bowl. The blend itself is toasty and mellow and I will certainly be buying this again.

Very light. Not much tobacco flavor but great room note.

Good Flavor, hard burn
I did like the flavor of this tobacco. My main tobacco is a cherry liquor, so the vanilla hint was a nice change. My only complaint would be it was hard to burn. I learned that if I pack it a little looser than I normally pack, it burnt considerably better.

One of the better package pipe tobacco’s out there. Its one of me favorites.

My, "Off the Wall" tobacco
I was looking thorough the "Pipes and Cigars" catalog, when I found this. I like to try something," different" along with my,"Go To" be=rands, (1-Q and Trout Stream). In my 3 years of smoking a pipe, (waitied til I was, "refined" enough to hold a pipe in my mouth, use the stem when I talk and point it to get my point across! :) I beleive this is my 2nd pouch of this. I have some issues with it; 1 I have a hard time getting the packing right, (usually over pack) 2 keeping it lite. Bot, I'm sure is pilot error on my part. When I DO get it lit, It smokes well, no bite, I like the room note. Over all not a bad bowl in the pouch. Would I smoke it regular, I don't think so, but, when I crave something different, I'll go to it. Joe Always take my adice with a grain of salt or a beer er 2!

A good smoke but not great or flavorful to me
A solid blend of good quality tobacco. Bought a pouch to try and found it a good smoke. Personally it didn't have enough vanilla or any flavor note didn't standout

the style is similar to the sail tobaccos and so is the packaging. the vanilla is so gentle that it couldn't possibly be offensive

Great product for a great value
Great aroma in the pouch, good room note, not quite as flavorful as other vanilla tobaccos I've tried but, a great value so it's nice and easy to have some on this on hand.

Something different?
ANytime I put an "order in", I look through the catalog and if a "pipe filler" catches my eye, I'll try it. I'm a 1Q and Trout Stream man, but........ Saw this French blend and thought, why not! It's not bad over all. I've only had a few bowls full, so the verdict isn't in yet. My wife likes the room note. Will it replace my 1Q or T.S.???? I kinda doubt it, but as a "something different" I'll reach for it. Joe Just my 2 cents!

C'est la Vie
Good all-dayer- mild, excellent flavour, stays lit, enough nicotine to let you know you had a good smoke. No bite, good room note- a dependable tobacco, not too rich, fine for the first pipe of the day.

Perfect Way to Start my Day!
This tobacco is exactly what I was looking for: an inexpensive, solid aromatic. I am very fussy in the morning, and the strong tobaccos that I love to smoke in the evening don't work for me in the morning. This blend is the perfect way to start my day. The pouch note is very sweet, yet the flavoring is subtle when smoked; I get a little burst of vanilla flavor every few puffs down to the bottom of the bowl. Very pleasant. The room note is also quite nice. Just make sure that you dry this stuff out sufficiently, as the pouch is sealed well and the tobacco is very moist at first. This tobacco also blends well with Five Brothers (a no-nonsense burly with a medium-to-heavy nicotine content); this combination is satisfying as a desert-type blend. I am giving this tobacco five stars on account of its price-to-quality ratio. There are better blends out there (Mac Baren Vanilla Cream Flake, for example), but I would pay several times more for these and only enjoy them slightly more.

Interesting cav.
Was a little surprised upon opening the pouch - this stuff looks like a broken flake rather than a ribbon. The first bowl I packed like a ribbon and couldn't get the draw just right - too loose, then too tight, so I wound up drawing too hard and overheating my tongue. Then I decided that, since it looked like a broken flake, perhaps I should rub it out a bit before loading. After that it smoked like a gentleman. The casing has a nice vanilla flavor that accompanies the tobacco rather than overpowers. A good cavendish at a great price.

C'est La Vie Pipe Tobacco

I thoroughly enjoyed the C'est la Vie pipe tobacco. It was smooth and flavorful and I will definitely order more! Thanks to all the people that are involved in the shipping and gathering orders. Excellent job!

Decent aromatic with setbacks
This is a decent Cavendish forward aromatic blend. However it has two main problems. There is almost no Vanilla flavor and this blend burns hot very easily ruining the bowl and forcing you to dump it. Despite these problems if you treat this like and English and take your time you can get nice smoke out of it.

Where's the vanilla?
Very little vanilla flavor came through this incredibly hot-burning tobacco. Room note is nice but I wouldn't re-order. Maybe your cup of tea? 2.5 stars

Doesn't live up to its promise
It smells wonderful in the pouch but it doesn't live up to its promise. Almost no taste of vanilla. It burns super hot. I could tell right away that it was hot so I went slow. It didn't bite but the pipe was scorched. The taste was a letdown. My impression is that it is inferior tobacco disguised by an intense casing that disappears immediately under the intense heat of the burn.

Not a fan
This tobacco all tho has a very pleasant aroma was just not pleasant to smoke . It seemed to "bite " to much .

Exciting as finding a $5 bill in a winter jacket
I bought this for my husband and he said there nothing really exciting about this tobacco nor is there anything really horrible about it either. "A good tobacco for a yard pipe or an outside rainy day smoke break where you may have to dump half a bowl." Not a tobacco he would go out of his way to buy nor would he be offended if he received as a gift.

Not my blend
I got this as part of a pipe and tobacco deal run on P&C. I elected to try a couple of the aromatics despite being an English fan most of the time (started with aromatics early then switched over). I got the Casey Jones and Captain Black gold at the same time. Of the blends I got, C'est La Vie is by far my least favorite. The tobacco seemed to have a way more off flavored top note than any of the flavored aromatics I have tried along the way and seemed to give off an insane amount of condensation in the pipe leaving a wet draw. I didn't mind the other two blends as something light and different for a change of pace, just didn't care for this particular blend.

It's a Happy Smoke!
Good Day! I hope All are enjoying a pleasant one. New Hobbyist. Excellent All Around Tasty Smoke! I'm glad the great brand name and tobacco go together so well. It's a nice smoke as per the description. Smells attractive in the pouch. I like tasty smokes and this French Vanilla is wonderful It's a Happy smoke, and will have you shouting C'est La Vie all over the place. Not Kiddin'! Ha! I encourage all to try it. I like the pouch it comes in. I save some pouches to but the zip lock baggy tobacco's in and this is one of my favorites. I put the zip lock baggies into better, nicer pouches, like the Gold foil ones, then swap the label over. Being that this is a fantastic smoke and a wonderful name on a quality pouch, I'm ordering another as I write this... and I'm sure to keep it a regular. Enjoy!

This stuff is as gentle as a lamb. I say give it a try when you are in the mood for a (mild) change of pace or to gently slip into the new day. Also, P & C's prices are always fair, especially for this blend. JU Cincinnati, Ohio

Many of the aromatics turn me off such as Stanwell's which are just too aromatic. I found C'est La Vie to be surprisingly good. Great with a cup of coffee after breakfast.

New to pipe smoking, but I found this blend to be EXCELLENT! Great pouch aroma, mild and cool smoking, no tongue bite even when smoked hard, and it burns thoroughly. I really like this blend and would definitely buy it again.

Adequate. 6 out of 10 in aromatics
JS of Edisto Island, SC
I found this blend to be best smoked slow. The true aroma and flavor come through if you don't puff fast. Overall not a bad blend but would have never tried it if it wasn't given to me.
CR of Cheyenne, WY
As far as pouch brands go this one is just okay. Smells great in the pouch, like vanilla, but I could not smell or taste vanilla when I smoked it. Very minor to no tongue bite which is always good. Would be nice if it was a finer cut because the pieces are kind of long. If you want a good aromatic pouch brand go with Erin Go Bragh or Captain Black.
