Cornell & Diehl Cross Eyed Cricket

There's nothing else that's quite like Cornell & Diehl Cross Eyed Cricket. Mellow and sweet toasted black Cavendish is combined with earthy Turkish leaf, smoky Latakia, and a splash of spicy/sweet Perique. Those tobaccos alone would make this a unique blend, but the C&D finishes it with a rum punch note to add a smooth touch of sweetness and brightens the aroma. Different than anything else you've tried, Cross Eyed Cricket is well worth a try.

I love and hate this
I love and hate this tobacco blend. The perique hits the spot, but the rum aroma is not up my alley. If you love rum this is for you.

Reminds me of Good BBQ, Smooth & Full of Flavor
I must admit the name and blend uniqueness got me to try this and I was a little afraid at first, as it smelled like a grilled steak fresh out of the can. The bbq aromas of wood, smoke, and hints of bright KC sauce through me for a loop but when I took the first couple of puffs it all changed. Nothing like the smells out of the can, as it was smooth and fully flavored with a beautiful aroma and smoke. This is an all-day tobacco that has smoked well morning, afternoon, and night. I am now a fan!

Liking this blend
Bought a tin of this to try, The name sold me, after a few bowls I keep coming back to it, seems to burn well and the rum flavor in the background is nice, I mixed some with Sutliff mature virginia, it took both to a different level quite enjoyable!

Wasn't sure what to expect...but
Wasn't sure what to expect...but guess what, its pretty tasty! A little english, a little aro, good combo. Its a little wetter than I like out of the tin, but a couple minutes of dry time and your all set. Burns well, but did require more relites than usual.

Louisiana perique comes together nicely with the rest of the blend
Not bad . My everyday smoke is Balkan supreme or 965 Peterson similar blend . And or BCA cavendish this was alittle of both worlds and is a nice break when something new is needed or wanted rather .

My new favourite
Ever since McClelland's Frog Morton blends disappeared, this one has been my go to. Tried a whole raft of new blends, but kept coming back to this one.

I'm rather new to pipe
I'm rather new to pipe smoking and still learning the intricacies of the various types of tobaccos. I enjoy the rich smokiness of the latakia in this blend and the subtle spicy tang of the perique. The rum punch casing offers a fruitiness that is very interesting! It's a complex and enjoyable blend.

Very unique and a great one to try at-least once!
Solid choice! Unique savory and sweet flavors. I would suggest trying it at-least once if you like English's and aromatics both, because this is for sure a cross between.

Yummy!
I was quite surprised by this being essentially a non-aromatic chap, but I definitely enjoy this blend. Even at a moderate cadence, I have experienced no tongue bite. Generates lots of creamy smoke and has a delightful fruity sweetness to it. Excellent post-meal smoke.

I enjoyed this one a-lot!
I enjoyed this one a-lot! The tin note is definitely smells like a rum punch, and the room note smells sweet. This is one id smoke all day. The tin description says it best "english or aromatic, you decide"

Evolution of perfection.
I never thought that I’d find a blend that I enjoy as much as Plum Pudding, but this Cross Eyed Cricket is fast becoming a new favorite. If you’re someone who enjoys routine, prefers to know what to expect and doesn’t care for surprises then you will absolutely not like this blend at all. If, on the other hand, you crave the unexpected and find that subtle little surprises fill you with joy then you may appreciate C&D’s Cross Eyed Cricket. I’ve smoked it in several pipes, from a cob to a Peterson to a Nording Freehand it is different in each. Not only does it taste and smell different in every pipe, but each puff is slightly different from every other. It evolves in the most elegant way that leaves almost sad when you’ve finished he bowl. I truly hope they never retire this blend, but in case they do I intend to stock up on it!

Similar to Frog Morton's Cellar
You may think I'm crazy, but it's what I consider the closest blend to Frog Morton's Cellar - so far anyway. Perhaps I'm still in mourning and simply on the rebound.

Pricey, but my very favorite. Love it but only smoke it once a day.

Pleasantly surprised.
On a hunch I decided to give this a try. Was looking for something a bit different to break up my every day rotation of standard English blends. Was intrigued about the top note of rum punch. The minute I opened the can, I was pleasantly surprised by the awesome aroma of fruity rum wafting in the air. Couldn't wait, grabbed my pipe and loaded it up. The tobacco was nice and moist but not wet. Fired it up, sat back and fell in love. Very smooth, loaded with flavor, smoky and no bite what so ever. It's like a fine after dinner dessert. Those who like aromatics will love this one. Even though my mainstay is straight English and Balkans, I do like to change it up once in a while and freshen the palate. This cross eyed cricket is superb and will be a keeper in my rotation. This is a nice twist on an English blend.

Different
It is a different smoke for sure. I enjoyed it but I don't think I would smoke it all the time. It's a bit fruity but has that smokey hay note to it as well. It burns well and smoked well. I enjoyed it more out in the cold while I chopped some wood I did not enjoy it sitting on my couch. A good smoke. Will buy again and smoke on occasion.

Best Cavendish
I typically enjoy English and Balkan blends (Plum Pudding, Bengal Slices, Super Balkan). The Cricket is my exception. Great blend.

love this stuff
love this stuff. it is my favorite Cornell & Diehl and 1 of my favorite all time tobacco's. its smokes wet but cool, give it a little dry time before packing it up

I suggest this in everyone's rotation.
I wish their was five more stars to give this. I've been enjoying this blend with Narragansett lager and it tastes like blueberries. It's beautiful. I'm sure smoked alone will not disappoint. Oh. And did I mention the wife enjoys the room note !? Sounds like a win win to me. This is a blend I approached unbiased. Not being an aromatic nor english snob. I celebrate both individually. With the two powers combined it's total heaven. Just do it.

Wonderful
Smokes wet, tastes amazing. I've tried drying it out, even leaving on a plate overnight and it still stays pretty damp. Perhaps I need a dehumidifier but I have yet to experience this with other blends. Definitely a great smoke.

Just awesome.
I don't always smoke aromatics... But when I do, I prefer the Cricket. Seriously, this is candy for adults. And I generally can't stand aromatics.
