Cornell & Diehl Habana Daydream No. 420

Cornell & Diehl Habana Daydream is, as the name suggests, a blend containing cigar leaf, but that's only part of the story.  Virginias are combined with unflavored, toasted black Cavendish, lively Perique, a splash of Latakia, and the aforementioned cigar leaf. The flavor is smoky and exceptionally creamy, producing plumes of thick smoke. It's a gentle-on-the-tongue blend with plenty of body. Sit down and relax with a bowl of C&D's Habana Daydream.

Great all around blend.
This is a unique blend, it has a good nic hit if that's your thing. But also a good all around flavor, you can just barely taste the cigar leaf. The perique is pretty on top of this one, but not as forward as it is in Bayou Morning. It also goes real well with coffee. Which is my favorite way to smoke a pipe. Been my daily driver since I got it, good stuff.

Excellent
Excellent. It’s like smoking a smooth cigar with some of the nice benefits of pipe tobacco leaves. Very creamy and super thick smokey plumes. This is really a top notch bulk easily better than some tinned tobaccos out there. My one ounce bulk was perfect moisture to smoke right away. Plenty of nice cigar flavor joined by burley etc.

Strong, smooth, satisfying.
This is some good stuff! I bought it on a whim to try a cigar leaf blend. I normally prefer very strong burley blends with just a bit of topping. This is different: bold, earthy, smoky, spicy and I can definitely taste some smooth and flavorful cigar notes. To be clear, this is not at all like smoking a cigar. It's more like a bit of cigar flavor mixed into a pipe blend, but it is an excellent mixture of tastes. I think most anyone could enjoy this smoke, and it comes in bulk, so you can try it for cheap or stock up on a budget. Simply one of the best pipe blends I have tried. It's not what I usually enjoy but I keep finding myself coming back to it again and again. And the nicotine is plenty strong!

Been smoking this for years,
Been smoking this for years, buying it by the pound. My all time favorite smoke. Packs and lights easily. I get a solid almost sweet VA in front and with each puff I get the others supporting cast, most notably the latakia and the cigar. The unsweetened cav is neutral taste wise but sands off any rough edges. This is the smoothest tabak out there.

Very Nice
The first bit of the smoke didn't impress, but a sweetness kicked in and it developed into a full bodied flavor. This will get reordered. Not a grab and go smoke, but one that needs relaxation.

Muddy mess of a blend
Yuck. Muddy mess of a blend. It is trying to do too much at once and doesn't do anything well.

Messy, Confused Soup Trying to Do Too Much
This is a messy, confused soup of too many tobaccos. A kitchen sink blend that doesn't do it right in my opinion. Yes, it has plenty of creamy smoke, but it is plumes of smoky socks and grandfather's moldy books. I have plenty of experience with cigars and enjoy them on occasion, but this blend's use of cigar leaf does not compliment the blend, or make one think of a quality cigar.

Great blend
Great blend! Good change of pace from my English blends. Not harsh whatsoever and I even get a slight sweetness. The cigar leaf is noticeable here and there, but definitely not overpowering the blend at all. Highly recommend!

Well balanced
A very well balanced blend. Ideal for those that seek full taste and subtle aftertaste. The cigar leaves' presence is very discrete. An easygoing blend, delicious and satisfying. Nicotine presence is indulgent and benevolent. I would prefer it more rubbed out and broken up, but overall it is a very good tobacco.

Nice Touch!! Gave me the aroma of smoking a ' Cuban Cigar'!!

Smooth and Tasteful.
I don't find much of a cigar taste however it is a tobacco that let's you know you are smoking a somewhat strong tobacco without tongue bite and is very smooth with a nice fullness. It loads well and stays lit. This is the first time I tried it but will definitely buy again. C&D seems to always be available whereas a lot of good tobaccos such as G&H are always backordered plus you can buy this in bulk.

A great smoke
I've always had the habit of smoking several different blends at any given time: Three to four pipes a day, each one a different tabak. Then I found Havana Daydream. Didn't know at first if I liked it but increasingly started craving it. Now it's just about all I smoke and I order it by the pound. Why? One: all natural tobacco flavor, no added chemicals. Every puff reveals some very nice VA with perique and latakia lurking in the backround. Not at all a strong cigar taste but just a little hint. The unsweetened BC smooths it out. Two: never every been bit, the smoothest smoke around. Three: loads and burns nicely. Four: C&D is a class act and this is a well made blend. Smokes better slightly dry.

Habana Daydreams
Great cigar-leaf blend with a nice latakia kick and good balance overall. Careful with this one--smoke too fast and the nic hit is pretty hard.

Rich and satisfying
Interesting to look at: colors are light brown, dark brown and black. Different "cuts", mostly kind of ribbony but some smaller and larger pieces. Takes a charring light to get going. Flavor is full and rich with really good VA in front and the perique, latakia and cigar leaf always hanging back but definite none-the-less. Think the black cav helps keep things cool. No topping, no added flavor, no casing, just a full rich straightforward tobacco taste. This has been my daily smoke for years. Smokes cool and never ever been bit.

good tobacco, lacking in cigar flavor
I like VERY strong cigars..I was looking for something to replicate that experience in a pipe..this really doesn't do it...I enjoy it, has no bite even when smoked "hot", which is why I stick to cigars and cigarettes, the bite from most of the pipe tobaccos I have tried over the last 30 some years put me off...this is a good tobacco, has a pleasant aftertaste and a fair amount of nicotine...I will buy it again, yet I am still in search of a "Diesel" I can take a few puffs on without having to relight a good cigar....

Habana Daydream
I like this mix very much. It is rich and complex, not sweet and not biting. Good for long thoughts or pleasant musings.

On my fav list
Excellent blend with a pleasant aroma and nice blue/gray smoke. Well balanced flavor and very smooth. Could use a touch more of cigar leaf but other than that excellent. I will definitely buy this again.

BIG, BOLD, and BEAUTIFUL!
I am new to pipe smoking, so I'm sure that others might better describe the subtle intricacies of this blend. However, BOLD is the word of the day when it comes to this blend. I have been smoking English blends, almost exclusively, since I have started down the rabbit hole of pipe smoking. This blend takes the "boldness" cake for me! The most amazing aspect of this blend is its cigar-like taste and room note. For me, it really shined through towards the middle of the bowl throughout the rest of the smoke. If you are new to pipe smoking, as I am, you will really need to pay close attention to your "puffing cadence"with this blend as the bite was intense to start with... It does mellow though.

Habana Day Dream and Cornell & Diehl in General
I have tried several C&D blends and all of them seem dry and have the consistency of chipped bark. This is my last C&D purchase. the flavor of the blends are very harsh and have tons of bite. Even if it doesn’t have cigar leaf and or burley.

Great, non-aromatic blend. Smooth and unique
Since I first smoked this several years ago this is my daily smoke. The big thing for me is: this is an unflavored tobacco, no sugar, choco-vanilla or candy bar flavoring. It's an all tobacco taste, all the time. After many pounds I've found that its a very consistent flavor: I get really good VA at the forefront with perique lending some sweet/spiciness. The unflavored cavendish makes for a smooth mellow backround. Funny thing: I smoke several stronger cigars a week and don't find much "cigarish" about this blend (as a few others have noted). At first light it takes a few minutes for the best overall flavor to develop but when it does it's very unique. I have several pipes dedicated to just this blend but my favorite is an old generic long stemmed canadian. This is a rich tobacco but smokes very smooth and it never, ever bites. Best smoked slowly in sips. This stuff is good enough that it's ruined me for other tobaccos although I keep a few change of pace blends for once in a while use. Recommended for those who don't like aromatics. A truly great blend.
Customer Testimonials
One word, cigar, the tin note, the room note, and flavor is of a quality cigar, in fact someone thought I'd lit a cigar when I smoked this around them. Great great blend starting to realize C&D are one of the best pipe tobacco blenders on the market today. Only problem is my four oz ran out way way to fast! Highly recommended!

This one is very interesting, overall I like it. Has a very cigar-like flavor, very earthy. The Latakia gives it a very smoky, rich flavor, and I also get a bit of spice from it, I'm assuming that's from the perique. After a few minutes into the smoke, it mellows out, a lot like a cigar would, and gets a hint of sweetness, presumably from the Virginias. It's also very strong, so be warned... it may be because I smoked it too fast, but I got a bad nicotine rush from this one. But other than that, it's very elusive and has quite a complex, interesting flavor. Recommended if you like cigars.

Long time cigar smoker here, I preferred full bodied cigars. Now that I am smoking pipes this blend caught my attention. Plenty great reviews on you tube so I thought I'd try an oz. Pretty good stuff, nothing to write home about but it's not bad. Mild blend, nothing like a cigar, and mildly sweet. The only thing I didn't like was the room note, the smoke was harsh and irritated my eyes kinda like cigarette smoke. Glad I only bought a oz, because at nearly $4.75 a oz there is many other blends for less that are better. But glad I tried it, thanks P&C for fast shipping and great service as usual.

I think this is a great pipe tobacco if you want something with a cigar flavor. While it is not a cigar in a pipe (the tobacco has the same flavor throughout the pipe), it's a great substitute and a good everyday smoke if you're converting from cigar to pipe. I highly recommend it! There is a tiny amount of Latakia in the blend, but it's so small, as to be barely noticeable. The pinch of Latakia in there just smooth's out the blend. Personally, I think this is best smoked out of a straight stemmed "General" or MacArthur style corncob pipe.

This is a good smoke, especially if you like a mild cigar. This is one tobacco my wife likes - she's not much for aromatics, so this is right up her alley. A cigar smoking buddy of mine bought himself a pipe and this was the fist blend I gave him to try. He liked it a lot.
