I did not receive “flake”, this is for star of the east. After first few puffs I was in wonder as to how tobacco could taste salty, but before long was shocked as salty turned not only to the taste of but even the feel of actual real butter! I couldn’t believe it was butter, had to say it “. Left that fantastic taste and feel in my mouth long after I finished! Loved it!

Very nice, no bite, cool smoking. Has a mild but pleasant taste, full bodied, and smokey. But not overpowering.
A great blend for relaxing anything. I see this is going to be a favorite go to blend.

I’ve tried many different Latakia blends in my pipe smoking journey but I find Star of the East flake to be the best combination of flavor, strength and taste. I smoke Latakia every morning with black coffee. They pair well together and I find myself every morning reaching for the Star of the East Flake. For smokers looking for a very smooth, very creamy Latakia blend, you won’t be disappointed with Star of the East flake.

This is far superior to the bulk version of this blend. To me it tastes very similar to pirate cake, only with more nicotine and a fuller body. If you can't let it dry out then pack it a little loose. Medium level nicotine. I don't give 5 star ratings, this blend is that good (if you like latakia like I do.)

As English blends go this one has a unique flavor / nose, no bite but I find it tastes better longer when smoked at a slower pace. Truly my favorite English and yes the flake is a bit better than the bulk.

I dont understand how this stuff has only 3 reviews. Its one of my favorite english blends. Highly recommend if you like Latakia, try to let it sit for a year or 2 before braking the seal if you want an even more superb smoke.

If you love Latakia look no further. Smokey deep rich bold flavor that harmonizes with the Virginias and orientals beautifully. If this tobacco were a symphony clearly the Latakia is the melody and the Virginias and orientals the harmony. Together they all make beautiful music together. I'll be keeping Star Of The East close. No tongue bit at all, cool as a cucumber. But sip it for maximum flavor. This is a winner!

I am a bit reluctant to give a poor review, but I was not happy with this blend. I found it difficult to enjoy this blend. I enjoy English blends of all strengths, but I found this blend intolerable. Muddy, texture-less; I stopped about 1/3 way through after two attempts.

If you like English baccy, Cornell & Diehl Star of the East is another good one. Recently I was blessed by a fellow from http://pipesmagazine.com/ who gave me this blend, together with C&D Divinci, and Dunhill Early Morning Pipe. As a novice, I find these blends to be rather similar just varying strength. Returning to smoking a pipe after 15+ years away, I'm finding I like the English blend a lot, and my wife actually likes the smell of these over aromatics.
This is a mild to med smoke. Great traditional "room notes." I just finished smoking a bowl. It lights well, stays lite and smoked to the bottom. Give it a try. If you don't like it - send it to me!
