Old fashioned, real honest tobacco flavor with a kick, these phrases describe Five Brothers to a T. This is straightforward dark Burley, cut in a fine ribbon that's almost a shag. Although a lot of people smoke this on its own, it also makes a nice addition to mellow tobaccos to give them more body. If you like your tobacco to be robust and bold, but don't care for added flavorings, Five Brothers is just what you're looking for.
Undecided. The leaf has a nice full "tobacco" smell. Moisture is just right. A very fine shag cut. It's full and strong without being harsh. No bite. I got my via the pipe club monthly shipment. No other way to describe this, but it has a "moldy" flavor to it. It's not discernable when smelling the pouch. It's not discernable during the draw - only during the retro-inhale and aftertaste. Possibly this was an old pouch - hence boxing and shipping it out for the pipe clubbers. Possibly it's just my palate. I did mix it with another blend - added body and strength and lessened the unpleasant after-taste. It's not bad - but not great. Probably best used a blend booster since it's flavor it neutral, or as a RYO.
I ended my last two nights with this. Although the spicy body isn't quite as present as Picayune, and the nicotine punch isn't as overwhelming as I had been led to believe on YouTube (and various tobacco forums), I found this to be a very pleasant smoke. My gosh, what a nice blend! This is a PERFECT topper for the night, even if you don't have a mug o' draft beer on your side for accompaniment.
A classic straight forward Dark Burley. No added casings or toppings, just good old fashioned burley taste.
Burns fast, but has a rum-less, chocolate-less, fruity-less, solidly good taste. And a bit of a buzz. Great tobacco !
I mix 1 part five brothers to 3 parts H&H Old Companion to get an old time pipe tobacco flavor . Mix only a days supply at a time because it dries out very fast . Very satisfying , tasty smoke .
I tried this with g&h dark birdseye which is a dark fired Virginia in the same fine cut. Together they make a nice balanced smoke.
I love the taste of this tobacco, it's nutty and american made. I love it by it self and mixing it with other tobaccos to give them some oomph.
Everyone experiences burley differently, but for me this has a strong spicy flavor, with a hint of cocoa and espresso acidity. An all natural shag-cut burley tobacco that comes bone-dry, but offers a full-bodied satisfying smoke. Word of advice, pull the tobacco you intend to smoke out of the bag, cup it in your hands, and breath into it a few times. The added moisture from your breath with help keep it from burning like a forest fire. Alex rates this: 8 out of 10
Decent nicotine strength. Not as strong as straight Dark-Fired Kentucky, but tastes better. I'll definitely keep some of this on hand.
Definitely a powerhouse. I actually like it best mixing it one for one with a pouch of the Borkum Riff bourbon. It slows down the burn a little and tones down the bourbon flavor of the Borkum Riff. The mixture of the two has made it into the rotation.
Not a bad tobacco, but I found it a little strong. I mixed it in with some Middlltons Cherry Blend and it gave it a little extra kick! Seemed to burn hot by itself and burned quickly.
This tobacco is a powerhouse of vitamin N! It lights easily and has a mellow nutty flavor. The Dunhill Nightcap of Burly tobacco.
I like to umph up my other tobaccos with this stuff. It's a treat.
