G&H Brown Flake Unscented is a pressed and sliced combination of a melange of Virginias with a fair amount of African Burleys and a bit of dark-fired leaf with minimal added flavorings. The result is a flavorful smoke with a medium body. This is one of Gawith, Hoggarth & Co.'s classic tobaccos.

Can't get enough
This is a great all around flake that burns well and tastes great! One of the stranger notes is that (which I can only describe is) of a slightly soapy character. That topping is not at all unpleasant however and one I can't seem to get enough of; unfortunately neither can "Pipes and Cigars" for it has not been in stock for some time......

A Truly Legendary Bulk Virgina Flake
P&C's image of this outstanding bulk Virginia shows broken flakes, and some are, but you will receive some full delightfully rustic looking flakes that are nearly eight inches long! The feel of rubbing them out gives one a sense of an almost "meaty" texture. The very rich "tin" note is one of the best you will ever experience. There is little to none of the infamous Lakeland fragrance. And these flakes are drier than Samuel Gawith's Best Frown Flake, so it's a better value. The smoke is a full flavored, deeply, deeply satisfying one. Get a sample of this tobacco. You will be back for more.

A Great Value In A Great Virginia Flake Tobacco
I'm not much into writing reviews, and I haven't been smoking a pipe that long, but I have learned about some very good tobaccos through an online Forum I belong to. That is how I found out about G/H's bulk Brown Flake. I can only say that compared to GH's Ennerdale Flake, Brown Flake has hardly any of that infamous "Lakeland" topping they are so noted for. This flake is just good old pure Virginia, and it comes fairly on the dry side, so it's a good value when you consider many bulks are quite wet. And the flake is very easy to rub out, as well. Has a great, somewhat bread-like, rich, nutty flavor. Get yourself some. You'll be glad you did.

Flake for any time of the day
A nice medium strength flake. Needs drying or can leave pipe wet. This tobacco does have full VA flavor. Rubs out into a shag. Best when left as mostly broken flake. Because of low nicotine could be smoked all day but can get boring. Great choice for cellaring.
