GL Pease Charing Cross

GL Pease Charing Cross is a robust Orientals-forward Latakia blend with the usual cast of characters- fine Virginias, tangy Orientals and rich, smoky Cyprian Latakia, but done with such balance as to make Charing Cross a full-bodied blend that is a distinct departure from the norm. People who enjoy Latakia blends with a robust Oriental influence are going to love this blend.

Superb Blend
One of my favorite 2 or 3 Pease blends and one of my favorite English blends period. Nice flavor and smokes very cool.

Charing Cross
As a longtime lover of English/Balkan-style blends - and there are so many good ones - this is my desert-island tobacco. Consistently good, a year-round smoke. The tin aroma is ok but it doesn't measure up to the taste. It's great right out of a new tin, but is even smoother, richer and fuller if allowed to age for six months or more.
Customer Testimonials
This blend really highlights the orientals. Almost like rye bread with hint of nutmeg. The latakia is bold but not overpowering. If you like Early morning Pipe by Dunhill, consider this the gourmet version. Gl Pease is not your standard tobacco. Its very coarse cut and is a little on the moist side. I let my bowl full dry out for a good hour before I smoke. I get much better results this way. I also rub it out like a flake to break up the larger pieces.
Not a bad Balkan and that is saying a lot considering that GL Pease is really not my cup of tea. Not sure what it is with their blends...I keep tasting this bitterness with the blends that I have tried?! Still, I decided to go for this one considering that I am on a Balkan kick at the present time and so like I started out saying, not bad! Good rich flavor, still has that bitterness but very smooth nontheless and surprisingly one that I will probably continue to smoke.
