GL Pease Gaslight

GL Pease Gaslight is a rich crumble cake of red flue-cured tobacco, combined with lively Orientals and rounded out with a generous helping of Cyprian Latakia. This is a true plug!
This is a true plug! Very old-school and takes work to prepare. It's made from high quality tobaccos. If you're considering buying it, you should.

This has easily risen to
This has easily risen to be one of my top smoked blends. The flavor is wonderful with a thick and creamy smoke. If you like latakia blends this will hit the spot. Been a long time customer of Pipes and Cigars. Their website is well laid out and they have great customer service. Always a pleasure buying from here.

Very smooth, good English blend.
Very smooth, good English blend. Minimal nicotine hit. It has a great balance between the sweet Virginias, tangy orientals and dark, smoky Latakia.

Got to be the best
Got to be the best Latakia pipe tobacco I've ever tried!

Quite simply, the best tobacco
Quite simply, the best tobacco I've ever smoked. Not sure why but I just love this stuff. Perfect for after dinner in the evening.

Not for me but worth trying.
My main issue with this blend so far is I have not been able to enjoy a consistent flavor profile from bowl to bowl. The smokes flavor is constantly changing throughout the smoke session. Sometimes all I can taste is the latakia. Every once in a while, however, the flavor is perfectly balanced between the three components and is very pleasant. The tin note is smoky, dank, musty, and smells kind of rotten (but in a good way). Personally, I probably will not be ordering Gaslight again, but if your are into heavy, full-flavored English blends, this is definitely worth trying.

Creosote-soaked log...mmmm....
My favorite description of Gaslight comes from Bradley, host of the StuffnThings channel on YouTube. He compares it to a creosote-soaked log down at the pier that has been lying in the sun, and if you can imagine going up to said log and sucking on the end of it, that'd be Gaslight. It sounds awful, he warns, but it's surprisingly delicious. If you find that description intriguing, pick up a tin. I grabbed my first tin of Gaslight after listening to Bradley's review, and was he ever right. This stuff is delicious. I've had to resort to buying it in 8 oz. cans because 2 oz. doesn't last long enough. It also makes me want to find a creosote-soaked log to...well, no, not really. But I will have another bowl of Gaslight!

My palate is not super refined but this was an amazingly good tobacco. It is a very relaxing smoke.

Good
Very good tobacco. Tin note is amazing, but tasted much different. It was milder, but did have good complexity

NOT ABOUT THE ROOM NOTE
This is a the only English/Latakia ive had that i can actually enjoy. That "Body Odor sweaty and sour lockeroom" note that i cant stand doesn't exist with this stuff. Instead its more like a salted smoked meat note.

Good smoke
Nice latakia forward tobacco. Had some of this when I first started smoking English blends and it was a little strong for me, but after getting used to other English blends I find this one enjoyable for an evening smoke.

Good strong smoke
Yes this hits the pallette very smooth, but be aware this will catch you off guard and have you putting the pipe down about 15 minutes sooner than usual. I'm a heavy puffer and this has trained me to be very conscience of my cadence the hard way.

Gaslight!
Seems like the dryer I let it get, the more flavor I get out of it. This stuff is my current favorite.

True perfection!
After many years and countless blends, I’ve finally been moved to do the impossible: give a 5-star rating. The tin description, while prosaic, poetic, and intellectually stimulating, doesn’t really do anything to help one prepare for or understand what it contains. Some reviews have said that it is fairly strong and heavy on Latakia, while I have found it to be exceptionally and unusually savory, and very well-balanced. It is deep, dark, and rich with a little spice. The fragrance is stunning. The smoke is voluminous. One thing I’ve never gotten from any other pipe tobacco is a taste and aroma of (get this) charcoal. And I mean distinct, grayed, ashed-over, smokey, ready to grill, Kingsford charcoal. 😂 Yet it wasn’t unpleasant at all. In fact I found it surprisingly nice, but didn’t really know what to make of it as it came and went through the bowls. As meaty as this blend is, I expected a lengthy, creamy pleasant aftertaste, but it didn’t linger long. Like most GLP blends, the nicotine is unfortunately strong. The first time I smoked it, I had to put it down a little more than halfway through the bowl. Subsequent bowls I’ve packed less so it isn’t an issue. For comparison, I find Gaslight to be reminiscent of SPC’s Plum Pudding; equally round and satisfying, but far more intense on every level. It is very well developed and has a maturity about it, unlike the edgy greenness I’ve come to hate from C&D.

Hybrid Curmble kake/Plug
This is a very complex and full flavored blend. While I understand that you're supposed to slice it, I prefer to break it apart because the leaves still have the big stems in them which i believe add a bitter taste, I'm not sure if that's suppose to contribute to the flavor that Mr Pease intended but I'm sure that at least half on oz of the 8 oz jar is composed of stems. Either way this is still an nice blend.

Awesome Latakia forward blend!
If you love the smoky flavor of Latakia, like I do... you'll love this blend! When you crack the tin and give it a sniff the smoky aroma almost socks ya in the nose! Super smooth smoking experience, with thick, almost creamy smoke production. I will be adding more of this to my collection!

Smoke every where
A TON OF SMOKE. This little crumble cake is quite a powerhouse. Wonderful flavor, would be better in my taste if they would lower the orientials a little.

Rub it out let it dry a bit
I tried to rub some out and pack straight out of tin. Not impressed, just strong. Rubbed out rest of plug and in a couple days what a difference! Absolutely amazing. Very full, complex, smoke it every day!

Latakia forever
This is a heavy one. Incredibly rich and amazingly smooth. They aren't kidding about the slow burn. It does come a dap damp, but the amount of times you're going to be reopening it to refill your pipe will square that away right quick. Definitely a mainstay for the shelf.

Rich & Smooth
Moisture content needs about half hour drying time. Comes with 2 one ounce plugs and a few crumble cakes. Very dark Latakia, but not smokey as you might expect. Very rich and smooth full body blend. Burns down to a very nice white ash and not goopy at all. Will buy again later on in the fall. Enjoyed smoking out side on my patio.

Will be buying again
I love this tobacco! I've never tried Latakia before and I will certainly be buying more of this. Lovely smoke and made me feel so relaxed. Reminds me of being outdoors on a crisp fall night with a campfire crackling.

Another home run from Mr. Pease...
Pease strikes again! While I can’t vouch for all of all the man’s blends given my particular tastes, I can assert my full faith and in this blend that I have grown to love. Greg Pease has turned out to be the one of only a few artisanal blenders that I trust to deliver outstanding and delicious products! Gaslight is a deeply rich and satisfying tobacco. Summa Cum Laude!

Wonderful Blend
If you are a fan of Dunhill's Standard mixture or London mixture, you will love this. It's rich with a smoky Latakia but smokes really smoothly and no bite. Its a strong blend and I think this is going to be one of my regular daily smokes from now on. It's an excellent blend.

Another nice surprise
Never have tried plug tobacco but the reviews prompted me to purchase a tin. This stuff is moist almost wet. After trimming enough for a bowl full I let it sit over night, actually 12 hrs open on a paper plate. After the second bowl I realized how good it truly is. Dealing with a plug may seem like a real pain but is actually fun with great rewards. Highly recommend.
Customer Testimonials
This is regular cake, so get a sharp knife (part of the fun). I like this one, it is stronger than what I normally smoke. I was surprised only one other reviewed this. GL Pease Gaslight is a blend that I will keep on hand.
JR of Hydro, OK
Gaslight is my favorite tobacco from this past year. I picked up 10 tins in December each tin I open is better than the last. I want to correct P&C's description, this is not a crumble cake. It is a regular cake that must be sliced. This is a strong Balkan blend with a heavy Latikia component. I love it.
