Great smoke from the same company that makes Captain Black. A whole lot cheaper. I've bought this several times and will buy it again.

Tobacco has always been good stuff, but came really dry like it was old or had been cooked in transit.

Over the years I’ve smoked several of the more expensive and we’ll know bulk brands and enjoyed them. I decided to try the Virginia Gold and been pleasantly surprised with the quality, mildness and full bodied aroma. I will be recording it again in the future.

I have enjoyed smoking this tobacco. It tastes good and has a pleasant room note. There’s no tongue bite, as long as You don’t smoke it too fast. Smoke it slow and easy and it’s a winner. My favorite & regular tobacco is called Shadow Mtn., but its only available at a B&M 200 miles from me. While not a complete replacement, I will definitely be ordering more to have around as a weekly smoke. If you like cavendish tobacco then try this one, you’ll like it too.

I'm a huge fan of black cavendish. I liked the price so I figured I would try this one. Pleasantly surprised how good it is! Smooth. Flavorful. Sweet. Wonderful aroma. My favorite blackk cav is Captain Black Dark. I judge all black cav by CB Dark. This VG might be exactly the same as the CB! They are both made by STG. I will definitely purchase this stuff again! If you love Black Cavendish like I do, but are on a budget buy this one!

Nice cavendish at a great price, I would compare it to Smoker's Pride. Anyone looking for a low cost smooth tobacco with no bite should try this tobacco.

It's a good natural blend to mix with aromatics if you like a combination that's not too sweet. Its grains are very stringy and long, requiring more effort to stuff it down into your pipe bowl without having any hanging over the side.

The Virginia Gold Black Cavendish is and "Old Friend" It is a reasonable smoke. I usual mix it with Capt. Black original(White) and it smokes very well. The cost is very reasonable also. I would recommend it to anyone that likes a light smoke with a good flavor.

Mixed 50/50 with Admiral's Choice Vanilla this tobacco gives a clean mild smoke with a pleasant aroma, does not burn hot and is moist enough to keep fresh and burn evenly.

Been smoking a pipe for about 35 years now,have tried a lot of pipe tobaccos over the years and thought I wouldn't find a tobacco I liked. I tried Virginia Gold and found the brand I like. It's nice and moist(not to moist) nice flavor and no bite for me. And the price is nice.

After I smoke all the expensive cavendish I bought before I tried VG black Cavendish I'll only be buying Virginia Gold Black Cavendish from here on out. It taste right to me, no funky tastes like some of the high end tobacco. Not too sweet, not flavorless like some that are like smoking hot air. Just right for my simple tastes. I mix it with a little whole leaf Virginia flue. I'm a believer.

The best Aadmiral's Choice is the Vanilla, but I like variety, and this one provides a quality second cjoice. It is both well-flavored and smooth. You may think it's Admiral's Choices best; you definitely like it.

One of the better AC. I actually like them all. Gives a deep smokey "tobaccoish" taste time to time.

This taste and smelled horrible. After trying to smoke it three times i throw the complete bag away. I would never recommend this to anyone!

I blended Virginia Gold Black Cavendish with Smokers Pride Mello Taste and ended up with a smoothe nice blend I’m using as my all day tobacco. Great burn, smoothe taste, great room presence. An inexpensive alternative for an all day smoke.

I wanted "black and gold" but with this i can make my own! go halfsies, or put a quarter part of some dried out pouch scraps with three parts black or add one part black to three quarters of a robust aromatic so it won't be too harsh. or just have it by it's self to cleanse a pipe like pipe sweetener, this stuff is sweet and mellow

great flavor, nice and smooth. Every time I open the bag it reminds me of playing when I was a kid, in the tobacco drying barn of my uncles farm.

Don't be fooled by the reviews. This is not BCA, it's better. Love right out of the bag or mixed with other blends. It improves the over the counter blends to. I won't be without it.

This is my go to smoke I tend to smoke hard and this tobacco smokes cool without bite I tend to choose others when i slow down for a nice enjoyable smoke.

Virginia Gold Black Cavendish... I bought it thinking it just might be a slightly less expensive tobacco that was comparable to Lanes BCA.. Close.... so very close but no cigar.. It is a good.... actually acceptable substitute however it has a wee bit more bite and a bit sharper taste.. An acceptable substitute for BCA if you cannot get BCA, but it is not equal to BCA..

Very nice aroma and enjoyed by others when I light up. Seems to require less relighting than many other tobaccos I smoke.

This is a good black cav.. not great.. Comparing this to Lane BCA is a long reach to the moon. This does not bite. It has minimum taste and flavor. I will go back to Lane BCA.

This was a gamble, but it paid off. Thus comes pretty moist, so some drying time was in order. I spread out the whole bag on two paper towels and covered it with another two, taped the edges down, and put a fan on it on low for several hours. Not bad by itself...but add in 10-15% of Stokkebye Perique and it becomes a wonderfully flavorful, all day type smoke with a great aroma. I have never been much into aromatics, but this blended with Perique is excellent. No bite, just take it slowly. Already reordered.

Not bad. No preservative bite, but my preference for discount is smokers pride. Just my opinion.

It has an odd smell, like dirty laundry or sweaty workmen. It's basically tasteless except for the sweat. This Admiral should be lost at sea.

By far my favorite tobacco. Can't believe the price as well. I purchased alongside some Sutliff black cordial and maple walnut, as well as some Peter Stokkebyes peaches and cream (all highly rated tobacco). At the end of the day none of the others even came close for me. This cavendesh is superb in all aspects (flavor, aroma, texture) and burns smooth when rolled up. Burns great in my pipe. Bout to purchase this again and stop trying other brands entirely. Found what I needed right away and can not beat the price. So tasty indeed!

I have smoked this and similar mixes for years. I occasionally try something else , recently, an analog of Edgeworth, which my father smoked. This cavendish is not a very sophisticated mixture, but I like it!

I bought this to blend into some other inexpensive tobaccos, have not smoked it straight. At this price range it is quite good, not too wet or sweet. It adds a nice aroma to the straight burley/virginia mix I smoke during the day. One bag will last me quite awhile, but when empty I will buy more.

I really like all of the Admiral's Choice blends. The Natural is a nice, easy smoking blend. It's straightforward, and has a distinct flavor, but does not taste too "fancy", like some aromatics.

Good smoke. One of the best of the black value priced Cavendish. I find the all black Cavendish the best burning and room note of all the low-med priced tobacco. Burns cool than others mixed with burley tobacco.

I won't bore you with the wonderful smoking qualities of this tobacco but I'll say this, if you want a mild , flavorful, non-biting black cav, stock up on this one. It's better than 1Q for blending and I smoke it in all my pipes too. All around best in my book.

Great price, quality, real Cavendish. I smoke a lot and I have a real problem with the tongue bite even after I pre-dry it which takes a while because I believe is a true Cavendish, not the suger water rip off style. Would be perfect for a casual smoker!!

I have been smoking this tobacco for several years (used to buy it when it was available at the local drugstore). It is a slow burning tobacco which you can smoke all day without a problem. Receive lots of comments on how good it smells. The price is several dollars below what I used to pay at the drug store, and I have had numerous pipe smokers ask where I got it. A win, win!

I am just finishing up a 9oz bag of the Virginia Gold Black Cavendish and found it to be a very mild, slightly sweet smoke. The tobacco was very moist and fresh, which I liked, and did not dry it out but enjoyed it the way it came. This was the first time I had tried a black tobacco and was very pleased. I will be trying others since I have ordered the Dark Side Black Cavendish Sampler and am glad I ordered the Virginia Gold as an introduction. Edward H

I have smoked this tobacco over the years and have always enjoyed it. Being a senior citizen without a lot of financial resources I look for the best value at the lowest cost, this is in that category.

I have tried all of admirals except cherry(I hate any cherry flavored tobac). I personally like them for the money and include on most of my orders.

Exactly as stated. A 'natural' Cavendish. I have others I prefer, but smoke this one to two times a day. Mix in a little Black Cavendish, and it is really good. Try some and decide for yourself. A this price, it's a steal.

This is by far the best pipe tobacco I have smoked. I agree with all the 5 star reviews and could add more positives. I have had zero problems, so there are no negatives. I think that if I had no 'lucked onto' this wonderful tobacco, I would have given up smoking a pipe. I have smoked and tried many other pipe tobaccos, Virginia Gold Black Cavendish is my only excellent choice.

Wonderful for blending or right out of the pouch. This is a mild flavored, no biting inexpensive blend which should be in everyone's humidor. Is there any better? I have tried many and as yet haven't found any which are close. Very satisfying smoke that's easy on the wallet. I can smoke this all day.

This is an inexpensive blending tobacco and as such, works very well. I waited two months while it aged and dried an it was a decent smoke. Right out of the pack, it's a tad harsh and prone to bite viciously. I won't purchase this again.

I'm not exactly a newbie pipe smoker, but it has been a long time since I've smoked out of a pipe. I find this black Cavendish to be incredibly smooth and a thoroughly satisfying smoke. The aroma is very intoxicating even right out of the bag. Nice nutty notes with a hint of chocolate and slight caramel. For the price it absolutely cannot be beat!
