IM Corona Old Boy Pipe Lighter

I love it. It’s a must have item !!!

Great lighter! It doesn’t stand up to wind as well as a Zippo with pipe insert, but it is great for inside lights. I do not have to worry about fluid being empty as much, either.

I tried other less expensive lighters and found only one other to compare with the IM Corona, which is the Peterson. I feel that the IM Corona wins on accuracy, lights every time, and general appearance and heft. The Peterson has a double flame, making it easier to burn moist tobacco.

Nice lighter but awful hard to fill with butane. Tried several different cans and all were difficult to fill the lighter with. I'm afraid this lighter won't last long.

This is my second old boy (1st Corona) they are 100% worth the money. Yes, the fuel adjuster doohickey is temperamental. A slight turn will make a huge difference. But once you get it set it’s good to go.

I like this lighter. It is expensive, but worth it for me. My only complaint is refilling with butane requires removal of a very small screw.

The best pipe lighter I have owned to date. Went with the entry level matte black for a test run and love it so far. Was considering the briar version but was hesitant to spend that much on a lighter without a test run. Lighter is solid, feels dense and heavy in your hand not like the cheap lighters made of plastic. I only smoke 1 bowl every night with an occasional bowl during the day on nice weekend days. Lighter holds enough fuel to last me about 2 weeks. There is no sight window for fuel but the flame starts to get smaller as the fuel is near empty, this is a good visual that it is time to refill. This is the only lighter I have ever owned that lights every time, including some very expensive cigar torches. I bought this for smoking my pipes but found myself using it as a soft flame for my cigars regularly. As many others have previously stated, this is not recommended for a windy day outdoors, but that is not expected from a soft flame. The tamper is a bit finicky to lock in place but works in a pinch. I’m sure if I used the tamper regularly I would get the hang of it and it is great to have when you need it. Overall I have no regrets with this purchase and would buy again. This does not have a lifetime warranty like some other lighters in this price range, only time will tell if I need that warranty.

A feeling of satisfaction when, I hold the size, big enough, for filling up butane, easily. The flame adjustment and, craftmanship, solid part holding flint wheel, nozzle next to it for the flame, and, arm that lifts up are going to work for years, it looks well made, so partly beautiful equally, in function as, having one to own.

Do not buy this lighter, particularly if you are the age of 66, and have mild arthritis in your hands. Refilling it is a real pain which is required almost every day. Very poorly designed and sells for an outrageous price. A really bad investment

It’s smaller than I thought it would be, but it’s really just the right size and weight. You can tell it’s well engineered, and that it will be a pleasure to use for years to come. I’m going to use it for cigars. Will the soft flame make them taste better than a torch? Tobacco research ahead…

High quality build that is noticeably better than cheaper knockoffs. Produces a nice soft flame. Every pipe smoker should own at least one old boy lighter.

Yep, this thing will likely outlive me. Well made, something you can pass down to your grandkids (once they're old enough to enjoy a briar). Well made, love the matte finish. Good quality; love not having to have a tamper tool and lighter with me.

I’ve tried everything from bics to Zippos and this tops them all. Great flame, lights every time and feels weighty in the hand. This lighter is worth the money and is of heirloom quality allowing it to be a “pass downable” item. 5 stars all the way, liked it so much I bought two!

So I finally pulled the trigger on an Old Boy...should have done it years ago. Quality is top notch, as I was hoping. Lights every time. The angle of the flame is perfect for all of my pipes. Fuel capacity is great. Even the tamper is top notch. All the positive reviews are correct...There's no reason to believe this won't be the last lighter I gave to purchase. Very happy...

I received this lighter today for Christmas. I am so excited. It is everything I was hoping it would be. It seems like it would be a little harder to operate for someone with big hands but works just fine for my medium size adult male hands.it works every time i strike it. It takes a bit of practice to use it but once you get it down it is very easy to use. The build quality is amazing. It has some weight to it so it feels good in the hands. The flame is easily adjusted and it is nice to have a built in tamper/ poker/ scraper. To use the tamper I just pull it out till it clicks and turn 180 degrees and it is a solid tamper. Pull it all the way out to use it as a poker. It slides back in easily and stays in with a magnet, I believe. Not only is it a work of art but it is a great lighter. This is going to give me a lifetime of good pipe lights!
