John Cotton's Double Pressed Kentucky Sale

John Cotton's Double Pressed Kentucky brings a new approach to pressed tobaccos that's almost revolutionary. It starts with smoky dark-fired Kentucky blended with sweet Virginias. These are pressed, sliced in to flakes which are then tumbled out into a ribbon. The tobacco is allowed to breathe and then moved back to the press to be formed into a crumble cake. This causes a second maturation cycle which deepens the flavor and takes any sharp edges off the blend. The aroma in the tin will enrapture you and the flavor is so rich that you'll want to go back for another bowl. Get ready for a new experience with John Cotton's Double Pressed Kentucky.

Happiness in a Bowl
The Double-Pressed Kentucky was a terrific surprise. The crumble is very easy to manage to achieve a reasonable pipe bowl, and it smokes evenly through the end for a long smoke. I personally have noticed not much of a room note, but the flavor is quite relaxing. My feeling is that if a person enjoys St. Bruno or Peterson's Irish Flake, said smoker would really enjoy this one too.

A good ‘mild’ strong tobacco
I wondered how this would be compared to Dark Fired, which are very nearly the same. This one is lighter in flavor and vitamin N than Dark fired. Not a bad thing. In fact, I prefer this one over Dark Fired. The Virginia in this blend adds a sweet note and makes for an overall smoother smoke. But it still is undoubtedly STRONG tobacco compared to a regular burley or Virginia blend. You can get your heart going with this one if you draw in heavy. So be warned!

The Kentucky has a bolder
The Kentucky has a bolder taste than the Virginia but not harsh. Excellent flavor and aroma. For me it is not an all day smoke tobacco but best enjoyed as an evening smoke in the porch rocking chair.

Surprisingly Smooth
Really good tobacco. I find a lot of Kentucky's get acrid and funky as you get further down the bowl, but this stays crisp and flavorful. Admittedly, the Virginias seem to be the star of the show, but the Burley is definitely there, and it seems like a good Burley at that. Perhaps it's the double press that mellows out the Burley? Either way, a moderately strong, but smooth smoke! Smokes great in my Bulldog and an absolute treat in a half bent Billiard.

A New Favorite
This stuff is delicious. I do love Kentucky burley, but the extra processing here really brings the flavors out in a way that makes them deeper and more savory. It almost reminds me of a milder version of my favorite rope tobacco. It’s not as rich or as heady as Brown Bogie, but it’s going to be in stock and it’s a lot easier to prep. Definitely an evening smoke, couldn’t handle it all day, but it’s worth the wait.

Smokes like a cigar
I didn't really know what to expect from this blend. Though I've been quite on a Kentucky kick lately, so i had to try it. It smokes like a cigar, so far best enjoyed in a meerschaum. Pairs nicely with mild bodied bourbon. The bbq tin note is not an understatement. It burns cool with no bite, but it doesn't offer much complexity to my taste. Good for those that like consistent flavor throughout a smoke. I think i may experiment with adding some sweeter virginia and perique. Not a bad smoke, but i don't think I'll be buying it again.

I really enjoyed this blend. No sharpness or bitterness. I recommend giving this blend a try.

I ordered a 2nd tin after the first bowl.
Nutty, and refined. Get the preparation right, and it'll smoke with very few relights.

Amazing
100% satisfied. Tin note is BBQ brisket all the way. Smokey, sweet, slightly musty and buttery smooth.(similar in some regards to Syrian Latakia). Sweet and some what grassy Virginia’s pop here and there but the flavor stays pretty much the same through the whole bowl. Light spice on the back of the tongue, not in the throat. BBQ taste mainly on the finish. Would highly recommend to anyone especially if they like a mild English......seriously.
