Lane Hazelnut

Lane Limited Hazelnut is a superbly balanced blend of golden Virginia and Burley with a smattering of rich toasted and steamed Cavendish that smokes easily and coolly. What makes this popular blend such a hit is the wonderfully pleasant addition of slightly sweet and fragrant hazelnut flavor. If you prefer a mellow aromatic that let's the tobacco shine through, you'll love Lane Hazelnut.

Lane Hazelnut
I just love the stuff have bought both bulk and the tins. My bulk is cellared and the tins are easy for travel. Will recommend it to anybody. It is a very mild smoke and love the nutty flavor. Lane has a winner with this one.

Just Fantastic
Smooth creamy nutty aroma that is just pleasant. This is how Hazelnut should be. Wonderful anytime but I really enjoy it with a cup of tea. Not bite no bark just pleasant to enjoy. Stays lit from start to finish with a nice ash leftover. I do believe that this might just become my new go to. It will be on the top of my list for my next order. Nice room note with no complaints. One of the few blends that leave a nice aroma in my moustache after enjoying. Lane Hazelnut is the perfect partner with a cup of tea or coffee, after supper, news paper (the real thing or digital) or a book, yard work, fishing, I think you get the idea. I just can not say enough. A must for everyone's rotation. This is a no brainier with no disappointment. It delivers that mellow smooth creamy nuttiness that hazelnut should. Just fantastic!

Sweet and mild.
This is the only aromatic I smoke. I smoke this for a 1st. thing in the morning. It's so smooth and mild Hazelnut could be a great starter for a new smoker.

Deliciously understated
It has been a good while since I have written a tobacco review, but P&C asked for a review, so here it is. I am in my 30th year of piping, and my tastes have evolved numerous times over the years. After a brief initial foray into PG laden OTC blends, I smoked predominantly burley, specifically "Lenny's Blend", a 50/50 blend of Prince Albert and Carter Hall, as taught by my Uncle Lenny, for decades off and on. This is still my go-to blend with morning coffee on most days. These days, I smoke seasonally...mostly Virginias and VaPers during the warm months, shifting to burleys as temperatures cool, with either an English or an aromatic after dinner. But, as man does not subsist on cocolate/vanilla/cherry aromatics alone when the sweet tooth strikes, I began my exploration of other aromatic flavors about a year or two ago. While I very much enjoy Lane Black Raspberry (a delicious change of pace with a delightful room note), too sweet can be a bit much sometimes. Despite the mixed reviews for this blend, on my last big order, built around the spectacular Lane Ltd sale, I pulled the trigger on a pound of Hazelnut. Well...it was exactly as I expected. And nothing like I expected. As an aromatic...it is very understated...deliciously so. No goop, gurgle, or tongue bite here. A tad bit of a sting if pushed...which is, to me, a good thing. It reminds me to slow down and let the flavor come to me. From the tin ($4 on sale!!!) the flavoring is a bit stronger, requiring careful pacing to avoid that bit of sting and get the most out of the flavor. I got both the tin and the pound of bulk, just to have a dedicated travel tin for business trips. The flavoring and pouch note, in keeping with most bulk blends, is a bit less out front than the tinned version. I jarred the pound for future use (at about $22 and a $10 P&C Cash rebate, it was a no brainer, and if the less positive reviews proved true, this "flavorless" leaf would at least be a decent filler/blend extender). Going through my cellar of some 80 blends last night, reorganizing and jarring my latest additions, I ran across a forgotten tin of Grand Croupier Boneyard that, sadly, had dried out. Toss this bone dry tobacco....? No sir, not this guy! In a flash of inspiration, as I puffed on a Dublin loaded with Lane HGL, I blended in a good portion of Hazelnut as I set up my rehydration jar. At worst, I would be tossing a couple ounces of leaf if it yielded an abomination...and hey..."HGL made me do it". I know this sounds bizarre...English and Hazelnut??? But both Lane blends share some base tobaccos in common, and HGL's unique flavor and aroma drives off the Latakia/Cavendish interplay, so.... curiosity killed the cat. In the blending bowl it went. Well, 35 hours later, as I puff on my third bowl of this, I am glad I bought a pound. And I will buy this again. Yes, boys and girls, this is GREAT blended with a mild to medium English. About 40% English to 60% Hazelnut gives a soft, bite-free smoke with a creamy and natural sweetness, a velvety mouth feel, delicate undertones of chocolate, and deliciously nutty body with notes of burnt caramel that waft in and out, with a slightly salty backdrop from the interaction of the Orientals and Latakia, the latter of which brings a gentle smokiness to the party. This is an all day crossover blend to beat the band! The missus immediately commented that it reminded her of "what you have been smoking at night the last several days" (Lane HGL), but that it also smelled very different. She even d?shared a bowl with me! And so English Toffee was born. This one I am allowed to smoke in the house. You can push this down ten flights of stairs and it won't bite you. This tobacco was a calculated risk that paid off. I will save some of this pound to smoke by itself, but I am going to mix a good half pound or more of this treat to see what some aging does for it. The hard part will be leaving it alone long enough to find out. As a stand alone aromatic, 3 stars for being understated and unassuming, and not cloying or overpowering. An extra star for being a surprisingly good blending tobacco. I might upgrade this at a later date...for now, it's on to bowl number four today (so far....). Happy piping!

Clean, mellow smoke
Not a huge fan of the sweeter fruity blends, but this one has become one of my favorites. Smokes well, smells great, and is perfect for any time of day. I recently bought a wide variety of tobacco to go through and my wife says she liked this smell on me afterwards the best.

Average has a mild hazelnut taste to it, got some compliments on the aroma.
An okay blend does not quite have the hazelnut taste by wanted or expected, but the overall smoke is nice and smooth.

Lane Hazelnut
Lane tobaccos are my favorite, and Lane Hazelnut is now my "Go to" tobacco because of its flavor, relatively slow burn in bowl, and no bite. Total strangers have stopped and complemented me on the aroma of this fine tobacco.

My new favorite
No bite, and wonderful flavor. I drink hazelnut creamer in my coffee everyday and this blend has a wonderful nutty hazelnut flavor. Glad I bought as much as I did. Oh and the aroma of the tobacco outshines the other tobaccos that I bought, the wonderful hazelnut scent fills the room

My tobacco of choice
My main tobacco. I was hooked on Lane 1Q and one time I came to order it and it was back ordered. I enjoy my hazelnut flavored coffee so thought I'd give this a try. WOW! What a treat. Smokes slow, no bite and great room note. 1Q smokes a little wet but not hazelnut. For some reason P&C stopped carrying this and I had to go with a McClelland match for quite some time. It wasn't bad but not quite the smoke I enjoyed with this. Fortunately, Lane brought this back and it's been a constant with me ever since. Highly recommend.

I just smoked my first bowl of this. It was a nice light smoke but I didnt pick up on any hazelnut.

Great all day smoke or as a blend tobacco.
OMG! This is some good tobacco. The first pipe full was not the best but I tried it in a brand new pipe. A week or so later I tried it in a broken in pipe. Wow what a difference! It smokes clean, long and bite free. The aroma is light and mellow not the least bit offensive. This will be one of my everyday tobaccos. A friend of mine tried it and fell in love with it. It is a nice break from heavy aromatics. It blends well with other tobaccos. If you want to lighten up something add this. It has a nutty vanilla character that doesn't over power what you mix it with.

Pleasantly surprised! Mild and flavorful tobacco with no bite.

Wasn't sure at first but now I'm sold!
Tried this in a brand new corn cob. At first I thought there was no flavor. Once I hit the sweet spot the flavor was there. Nothing heavy and no bite. The aroma was a very mild sweet, slightly nutty essence. Nothing heavy or over the top. Will be a good all day tobacco for the experienced or new smoker. Make a great change of pace for those that smoke heavy aromatics or straight tobaccos. Mixed with something light to mild this would be a great smoke. As light as this is strong blends will over power it. Bought 1 oz. to try will be buying more in the very near future.

Customer Testimonials
Looked around and tried many blends, this one I will stick with for a long time. It's lite, burns well tastes the same all the way down. Taste better in a corn cob but ok in briars too.New smokers, you got to try it,you will love it, No bite, nice flavor, stays lite. A KEEPER! Oh nice room smell. Even your other half will like the smell. Lanes you got it right, keep up the great work,
I was little disappointed. Minor bite and no distinctive taste or flavor.
Another wonderful Lane tobacco blend. A nice "nutty" flavor and great aroma in and out of the can. I did notice a slight tongue bite now and then, but that is most likely just me. All in all a very nice smoke.
