Excellent. This blend has become 1 of my new favorites. Tastes almost exactly like carter hall original but minus the ashyness in the flavor.

Not quite Carter Hall but
Not quite Carter Hall but close enough to make my morning pipe an enjoyable start to my day. I like a pure non-aromatic tobacco to have with my morning coffee.

Very satisfying, what I wanted from the very beginning. So glad it is now in stock.

Good stuff!
I purchased this when I couldn’t get Carter Hall from the store and it was amazing! I have not been pipe smoking long but I could not tell the difference. Good Stuff

Great smoke
This blend is great. Mild with a little sweet. I think I just discovered that I’m a burley codger kind of guy. Paid great with pepsi

Almost as good as the original. Would by again.

Not a great match, but not bad. Texture is too stringy. It just doesn't taste like Carter Hall. Would I buy it again if I couldn't get Carter Hall? Probably, but I would still keep looking.

Outstanding match for carter hall
Excellent burn rate, no bite, smooth smoke. All day smoke for me. Price is fantastic. Pipes and cigars is great company. Shipped out next day.

Good, but not the same.
The match isn't quite the same as Carter Hall. The match is more aromatic than CH. I have smoked CH for nearly 40 years and it is my mainstay tobacco. Hope it comes back.

W#orth a try
Close match to Carter Hall--CH has never been been my go to blend--however I do like it because it has a deep somewhat mature and aged content not present in all codger blends--and I could always detect that and the aged virgina--the match is a lighter version of CH but does not have the depth and maturity and the virginia pickup is not there.I used to like Royal Yacht when Dunhill made it--but the newer versions never had the mature taste with depth. However the CH match is a good codger blend --great room note --and despite the heavy moisture content--smoked cool and dry and all the way down.Love the cut. Some CH buffs may like this better than the original--well worth a try.I am going to air it out a bit and let the tobaccos marry somewhat before I try it again.

Great Tobacco
Here is my take. It is not a perfect match for Carter Hall but still has similar qualities. So, after getting this out of the way, if you just rate this product on its own without just comparison, it's a great smoke. I frankly like it quite of bit. I could certainly put this in my rotation along with Carter Hall just for something similar but a little different. It smokes great and stays lit. It does burn a little fast but that's ok. Try this and judge it for its similarities to CH but then on its own merits. Think you will enjoy.

My favorite for 40 years. No bite and an outstanding aroma. Excellent blend, whatever it is, and a nice even burn.

Something is Off
I love this match but for some reason the flavor has been off the last few times I have purchased it. It’s not bad it just does not have the taste from past orders!

Tasty and mellow
I love codger blends and I really enjoy the Match blends. So I finally got around to try the Carter Hall match. Boy, this is a tasty smoke. It's sweet and mellow. The bag aroma reminds me of raspberries more than vanilla. I'm glad I tried it and will be stocking up, cause this bag isn't going to last long. Thanks P&C.

The All-Day Smoke for the Experienced Pipe Smoker
It's not a perfect match for Carter Hall's flavor but it truly is a quality all-day smoke. I didn't care for it at first but man, it grows on you. I will buy more once this 8 oz purchase is depleted.

Match Carter hall, mild great flavor &taste
I've haven't tried this in years. This is a true old-fashioned blend this is close to the original as this can get. Didn't the original blend have some gin berry flavor? If you love burly and Virginia, with light vanilla, whiskey in the background you found it.for a treat mix 40%vanilla royale, to 60%Carter hall. This is a great every day blend. Robert

Do yourself a favor and try some of this. Very tasty
I have never had the original CH and have been on a bit of a codger kick lately. Original and a number of Matches from P and C. I have really enjoyed Sir Walter and a little PA. I think so far I like SWR Better than PA. For me, a lot of these codger blends just don't have enough actual taste or flavor if you will. Just recently got back into pipes and out of the codger blends, I REALLY like this stuff. I can taste a little sweet Virginias and a real tasty whiskey flavor. I remember really liking Peter Stokebyes Whiskey and this tastes kind of like that if I remember right. I highly recommend this. I'm going to put this in my rotation and could easily see this as an all day smoke. Enough flavor that you can actually taste, just not hot air. You can't beat the price either. I like to load this shag type of cut by first letting it dry out an hour or so and then put a bunch in my palm and turn the pipe upside down and go in circles. There's vids on Youtube on how to do this and I'm sure of you old timers know this method. This stuff burns great after you let it dry a bit or a while. Been on a drying kick too and tobacco tastes so much better and smoother if it's a little bit on the drier side, IMHO

Don't overlook this one........a winner!
Brand Carter Hall is my go-to tobacco, as I first smoked it in 1975. Yes, I have smoked many proprietary tobaccos over the years that are fine smokes. But, nothing comes close to the 44-year taste and product quality consistency of brand Carter Hall.......except for CI's Match Carter Hall tobacco which comes very close. This match tobacco is my second go-to tobacco and always provides me a fine pipe smoking experience at half the price of brand Carter Hall. This one is a winner and a keeper. I hope CI will keep this match on the menu. Enjoy!

I can say for a fact that I enjoyed his tobacco, however I have discovered by using it that I'm much more of a dark Cavendish tobacco fan.

Will order again and recommend
This blend isn't trying to be anything special and it surely exceeds its expected purpose as a Carter hall match. I find it to be more flavorful and have a better aroma than the original Carter Hall also it probably doesn't have Pg like the original does, that stuff will stay moist if you left it out on the desert sand. With that being said I suggest you dry this blend out for a couple hours prior to smoking to get a better flavor and for ease of the light.

Unqualified Reviewer
As a newbie to pipes, the Match Carter Hall pipe tobacco was the 2nd pipe tobacco I tried. It performed as expected. It had good flavor and provided a genuinely pleasing experience.

Not Quite There Yet!
I was a bit surprised by this! After reading the great reviews I thought this could possibly replace Carter Hall but its just not there yet. I am enjoying it right now but I miss that slight bit of nutty I get from the authentic. Now this is not bad and the second half of the bowl is better than the first. This Match just does not seem to be as mellow but do not get me wrong....its not bad, but I think I will blend it with some Hazelnut and see where that takes me. I will purchase again but just as a blender and not so much by itself. You can enjoy this all day but I prefer something a bit smoother and mellow. Give it a go as I do not think you can be disappointing either way you go. Cheers!

Daily Smoke
Very close to Carter Hall, but better. I swap between Carter Hall and Half & Half for my daily smoke. This will replace Carter Hall.

Awesome ! Great taste, smells great and easy on the tongue. Smokes cool
This is better than the original. It’s great all by itself but even better when mixed 50/50 with Lane mv1000 !!!

Excellent smoke!
This is an excellent blend. If you enjoy CH original you'll not be disappointed. I actually prefer this match over both CH and H&H Chatman Manor. All are great codger blends.

Excellent tobacco
I mix this 50/50 with Lane's MV1000 (CB Gold bulk without all the humectants) for an excellent smoke and is now my favorite mixture. When I started smoking a pipe in the early 80's, I mixed H&H/CB Gold, then went to CH/CB Gold, then CH/MV1000 and now Match CH/MV1000. The taste of this mixture is superb and I get countless compliments on the room note. Great in a cob or briar. P&C says it's made by Sutliff. Can't beat this one for the price. Try it (if you can catch it in stock).

Excellent blend, slightly better than original...
Long time fan of Carter Hall, I decided to try the "match" version of this blend. Not disappointed to say the least! Excellent taste & aroma.Very much like the original, and leaning towards slightly better. Will definitely buy again!

I was pleasantly surprised at how good this is! I think I like it BETTER than Carter Hall!

A step up
This is an excellent tobacco! Compared to carter hall it's a step up. Same consistent smoke except with a few minor differences. To me, the pouch aroma is richer and has more depth. A little more sweetness possibly due to a slight more Virginia and the cocoa is more prevalent. Great Nutt aroma like CH. The smoke is good,, same easy burn, no harshness and very easy on the tongue. The aroma of smoke from the pipe is simile th CH with more toastyness. Excellent match to CH but it just has an extra taste and aroma the is a step up. Excellent smoke. I don't generally white reviews but I had to for this one. I highly recommend this one.

Good as the Original
I used to smoke Carter Hall years ago, so I had to give this a try. I was very pleased at how close the match is. The tin note has a stronger cocoa smell than Carter Hall, but the taste is the same. I will be going back to this on a regular basis.
