MATCH Elizabethan (New Name - Match Victoria) Sale

This is a match to Dunhill's Elizabethan Mixture. A variety of sweet Virginias are pressed and slightly darkened, then tumbled into a ribbon-cut, which are then blended with fine Louisiana Perique for a piquant flavor. Dunhill fans may miss Elizabethan Mixture, but MATCH - Elizabethan is here, and at a very comfortable price.

My EDS (Every Day Smoke)
For the last decade or more, I've been a fan of Virginia Perique tobacco blends. They have a distinct aroma both in the can, and as they are smoked, without the sometimes cloying sweetness of some cheap aromatic tobacco blends. Match Elizabethan has plenty of perique and enough naturally sweet Virginia leaf that it doesn't need much top dressing I suspect it has some, however, for it has an identifiable, almost fermented aroma, or that of dried fruit or flowers that's hard to pin down. Whatever the manufacturer does, is done well. I recommend Match Elizabethan to anyone.

A Tribute to England's Greatest Monarch
Mine came in today, and it's really good.I enjoy the big leafy shreds of tobacco found in my order.I last smoked Elizabethan mixture two decades ago, and don't have much recall about it then. Some grouchy smokers I know may refuse this due to the fact that it is not made by Murray's,and for no other reason. I say to try it.One the leaves marry to each other, it will be even better.

A Pleasant Surprise
A purchase of Match Elizabethan on a whim and I was surprised. It was a tame blend with just enough character to pass on some flavor with a bit of finish that got me to make a note of ordering more.

great tobacco for nicotine content.
So I bought 3oz. of this one, and four other ones. I switched over to smoking a pipe from cheap cigars, that I would inhale. I don't inhale with the pipe, and with Match Elizabethan, I don't feel the need to either. I took away one star, only because it burns a little too fast. Happy piping.

Elizabethan Match
It doesn’t have the strength of Dunhill Elizabethan, but it has an excellent flavor. The perique is forward enough, but the Virginias are just very fine. An excellent daily smoke, but it’s not exactly a one to one replacement for the Dunhill. Still, on its own it’s very good, and I will order it again.

To me it isn't the same, and yet, a delightful tobacco. Tell Russ I have enjoyed the tobacco. A touch of Picyune boosted the strength. You guys are great! Thanks for your efforts- bravo!

Very good
This blend does not taste like Dunhill Elizabethan, it is in my opinion much better but then I don't much care for Elizabethan. Match is a bit more mild with less nicotine and not as much perique.

Match Elizabethan
I'm dumbstruck. I've always been a Dunhill supporter and dare I say this? But....I think I prefer the Match Elizabethan over the original Dunhill. Smooth and rich, it's a win-win.

New favorite
I had never really been the biggest fan of VaPers, but after seeing a review of Dunhill Elizabethan on Stuff and Things on YouTube, I thought I would try it. Due to availability and price, I chose the Match Elizabethan. It is an excellent smoke with no flaws as far as I'm concerned. Rapidly becoming my favorite go to blend. Five stars.

Excellent Alternative, Price Is Right
I'm a cheap bastard. I admit it. So if you're looking for a top notch pipe tobacco, and don't want to pay the price of tinned blends for your every day smoke, then get Match Elizabethan, especially if you're a VaPer enthusiast like I am. If I had a bigger humidor, I'd buy it by the pound.

Forget it. Bad mix.
I was disappointed in this blend. Smelled bad and tasted bad. I would not order this again

Maybe A Little Much For Some But Good!
If you're a perique lover then this one's for you, the flavoring and aroma of this blend is obviously dominated by it down to the peppery tongue and nose tingle. This blend is a good one for the VaPer fans but may be a little over the top with perique for those who want a more mild smoke. The aroma of the "Match Elizabethan" reminds me of some of the incense that we burned back in the 70's and while it's not bad it's not at the very top of my flavor profiles that I would prefer, I like perique but I don't want it to completely dominate the other ingredients of the blend which in this case are the virginias in the mix. I think that I would prefer the perique to be used as a condiment rather than the main course, much like it is in the "Match Nightcap" blend.

Just to strong for me. Big time tongue bite.

VaPers own me
I bought 4 lbs of this based on the reviews and am thrilled with it. My only complaint is it seems to be disappearing mighty fast. -Bravo Sutliff!

Very good match! I like it better!
I had the Dunhill's Elizabethan, but never the Murray's original version. So I can't compare this match to Murrays. Compared to Dunhill's Elizabethan. I like this Sutliffs match better than Dunhill's version. Taste is similar. However this match just has a little more going on that I like. This being cheaper is also a bonus!

Pretty doggone close.

the match is close enough...
the taste is similar to the dunhill, just not as intense...i love it; it's an everyday burn...i'm trying a 3-1 blending of this with a tin of elizabethian...if dunhill bolts the scene they better not stop making this match blending...i'm buying it pounds at a time...

A Wonderful Smoke.
A great relaxing smoke. A little sweet, and a hint of peppery spiciness. Mild but plenty of flavor. The aroma out of the bag puts me in mind of an old-time mixture without all manner of flavorings and additives. I really like this mix, it has become one of my favorites.

A favorite
This is one of the few tobaccos I've bought more than once. Deep and bright in flavor - almost tangy. Hope it sticks around because we're tearing through it.

Decent vapor
I've never had the original but this was a good straight forward tobacco. It was a little to peppery for my tast.

good smoke
Medium cool smoke. Burns well. Earthy, nutty flavor. Have other blends I'll probably go to first.

Exactly as expected
I have smoked a locally made blend for many years and got an itch to try some others to refresh my memory or "see what's out there." I find Match Elizabethan fully comparable to the original. It is fairly bright, with a toned down sweetness thanks to the darkening and "picquant" is exactly the right word for the the taste the perique adds. It would be 5 star but just wasn't the taste I was looking for.

Very enjoyable, great in the morning with my coffee.

Match Elizabethan
Got this because I love Dunhill mixes. I can say that you nailed this mixture. It is everything that I would expect from Dunhill except the price! Definitely something that I will reorder in the future.

Elizabeathan Match
Its a tasty smoke, not near as good as Dunhill version...seems to be missing a bit of the perique bite. Dunhill Elizabethan is easily my favorite all day every day smoke...the Match is " close " but a bit flat... I ended up mixing it 66% with Daughters and Ryan Picayune 33% and beefed it up just a touch and found that it was an enjoyable smoke...though it is not equal to the Dunhill.
