Great Match for Nightcap!
I have smoked both the Dunhill and Peterson brands of Nightcap. I have just tried P&C Match Nightcap and I think you’ve nailed it. It will remain a staple in my pipe tobacco rotation.

This stuff is so good!
If you like the way Nightcaps flavors develops, the good news is that this blend does that. There is a little bit less Latakia, in fact, my first bowl, the earthiness made me think there was no Latakia in it. However, the Latakia is just better balanced! You can taste the other components, while still getting the Latakia smokiness. It just doesnt completely smoke out your taste buds. This blend is all the flavor of Nightcap but not the nicotine. So, i lovingly consider this the Guilt free version, if you will. The Jenny Craig Nightcap. Haha!

Bye-bye Carter Hall
Finally able to quit banging my head on Carter Hall and does it ever feel good! Smoked Scotty's English Stout for years until the nicotine police put it down. Tried this and that, mostly other Englishers but one's too soapy, another's too hot, etc., until I picked up a pouch of "nobody doesn't like" Carter Hall one day. I didn't dislike it, it's inoffensive and smokes well right up to the last of too many bowls in the evening. But let's face it, it's sweepings. So last month after a couple of yearsat The Hall I went back to the P&C Match page and tried the copies of 965 and Early Morning. The latter is like smoking Dial Soap, the former, less noticeably soapy maybe because the flavor is better. Nightcap arrived today and in a well-cleaned, long dormant pipe it's the One! The Perique isn't noticeably peppery or biting but the flavor is there as is the Latakia without a trace of Lifebouy. I read where some Danish outfit bought the Dunhill name and will resurrect the blends but whether or not this is the real Nightcap or Dunhill Tins will become available, I don't care. P&C can call it Chanel #5 as long as they continue to make it available and inexpensive.

It's good folks
Haven't tried the original Dunhill, but this is an enjoyable English tobacco.

Perfect nighttime blend
This is by far the best stuff to smoke at night. Leaves me feeling relax and ready to go to bed. Never had the original to compare to but it definitely doesn't disappoint.

MATCH Nightcap
I first tried MATCH Nightcap when Dunhill’s original was very expensive. Although It was not an exact match, it was close. Over the years, when Dunhill’s Nightcap bulk price was less expensive or near the same price, I would buy that in bulk, usually 80 ounces. As I most often smoked the Match product, the Original provided a pleasant change. Had I known that Dunhill Nightcap was going to disappear I would have stocked-up. I am not a sophisticated pipe smoker nor tobacco connoisseur, despite having smoked pipes for more than fifty years. I purchase all my tobacco from P & C but have a small collection of gift pouches from people who recall me as a Borkum Riff user. I have a few bags of Value Tobacco, mostly Cavendish and Latakia blends. I have found BB1938 a pleasant and somewhat similar tobacco that I smoke intermittently. I also have a small quantity of Black Velvet, which I have used sparingly, that I bought on one of my early visits to P & C (I wish I had bought more, as the price was very low at the time.) Just so you’ll know…I am very satisfied with Pipes and Cigars –good prices, products, and customer service.

The aroma was much more
The aroma was much more straight forward than i had anticipated. This is not an aromatic, it is definitely more of an english blend. The room note was pleasant but not as overwhelming as i had thought. I would recomend this for anyone wanting a more robust smoke to wind the day down.

Match Dunhill Nightcap
One of my favorites. A bit heavy for others around me (the room), but good flavor and cool.

Great before bed.
Good. Its been over a year since i had the dunhill so cannot say how close it is, but very similar for sure. Mine was a little to wet. A few minutes sitting out was about all it needs to be just right.

Flavor Galore
Great stuff. Never had nightcap so I'm not sure what to expect. But I can tell you this is full-bodied, sweet and smoky. Just what I like at the end of the evening before I rest. The retrohale tingles and enforces the smoky overtones. A great rotation baccy

An Instant Favorite!
I'm more or less a newbie pipe smoker but I've tried several top brands. After 1 bowl this had become my go-to favorite.

Robust, Tasty, Smokey
I have taken up the pipe two months ago, and find MATCH Nightcap to be my favorite out of three other tobaccos I've purchased. I have tried Lane 1-Q, Captain Black Regular, and Peter Stokkebye Luxury Navy Flake. Dunhill Nightcap was out of stock so I never got to try it like I wanted. However, I found MATCH Nightcap to have a robust and smokey flavor with hints of spice and occasional sweetness. Four stars for a quality blend, but this blend does bite and requires a few hours to dry out a little (at least for my preferences). If you're looking for something robust and tasty, look no further.

Nightcap Notbad
This tobaccoo was a similar downtoned version of the dunhill. Burned ok, white ash, no bite. I liked it.

Pretty good smoke
Not Nightcap..... but good in it's own right. This is still a pretty enjoyable English blend.

Soothes the over thinker
This one really sets you up for lala land. Aptly named for an end of evening whatever the hell it is you do session. Enjoyable aroma. My pipe stinks sometimes but the fellas say this one smells good to em.

Good Taste, not what I expected
From my knowledge of Dunhill Nightcap, recommended to me, I expected this blend to be way more relaxing than it is. It tastes good, and I like it, but it's not what I expected. I mixed it with some P & C Cigar Leaf, and now it is much better.

Shows whos boss
This is a smoke for those who rule .has such a good taste, can fill the room with smoke that other's may not care for.but most good english smokes that ate any good do.the over comes all else, now a good english is only for the real pipe smoker not for the meak.if you smoke a pipe to hear from other's boy that smells pretty do not pick this ,becase like i said this and all english are for those who smoke for their pleasure try a good english and nightcap is one of the. Best.but guys not in the living room unless the kids or the wife will not let you watch the news.if you want to clear the room ,light up a bowl of good english, and this is a real good one

Not it
I have smoked only dunhill nightcap daily for 4 years. This ain't it. Tongue bite in four puffs. The Virginia seems harsh, lacks body and richness. I'm am not a tobacco expert but after nightcap this isn't close to measuring up. Nic seems about 1/2. Maybe relying too much on the spice..DN is sweet but really smooth. I fear I may never find an adequate replacement

It is an English blend
Bad tin note. tastes maybe ok if you don't have anything else. Room note smells not so good. Won't buy again.

Product just as described. Great company to deal with.

No match point here.
Not all what I dreamed of, only the vaguest hint of nightcap, maybe the Ben's were located near each other. Not a match, smoking time wasted.

It's OK, but it is no Nightcap
I hate to be the only d__k in the reviewer group, but... This is no match for Nightcap. It tastes something like it, almost, but it is neither as strong nor as sweet as the original. It is a rather pleasant though unremarkable English in its own right, but it lacks that flavor tie-in that makes Nightcap so great. If you are looking for something that will replace Nightcap, look elsewhere. Sigh. If the demand gets big enough, Russ will think of something!

Pretty good stuff
I'm a Latikia hound, so I found this blend great!

Soft and light. Good for nightcap or first in day.

An Excellent Smoke!
this is an exceptional English! Creamy, smooth and earthy but then gives a peppery tingle on the tongue. the different tobaccos used in this blend really work well together for a great flavor and a surprisingly good room note. I'll be ordering a LOT more of this blend! P.S. Goes great with Knob Creek Single Barrel Bourbon!

It’s good, but not Nightcap
I really enjoyed this tobacco, and I really had high hopes that it was close to Dunhill NC, but it’s just not quite there. It has the same tin note, and the components are all there (latikia, perique, Virginia), but somehow they just don’t marry together like expected. There is a point about midway through the bowl when this smoke has a Dunhill moment, and that’s why I’ll keep smoking it; however, it won’t be my replacement for the real thing.

MATCH Nightcap, A really good blend
MATCH Nightcap is a really good blend. The Turkish Tobacco through me off at first as I was not accustomed to it's flavor and aroma but after a few bowls I really started likeing this blend to the point that I will definitely put it in my rotation. MATCH Nightcap will be a good replacement for the Original Dunhill Nightcap once it is gone. I believe it will cellar nicely and age well. Keep up the good work Pipes and Cigars.

Good clone
I am the once in a while Nightcap guy. Roughly once a month I would guess. I tried this with a good friend who smokes his Nightcap every night whiteout fail. For myself, this nailed it and once dunhill goes away this will be my go too for Nightcap. My buddy said he really enjoyed it, but it’s not Dunhill Nightcap. I thought the nic was good but my friend thought it had less than the original. My honest opinion is that it could be in the marketing for my friend. I think he wanted it to be an identical clone, but it isn’t. Close enough for me...and my buddy ordered some as well. Side note, I think the tin note is stronger than Dunhill, but once you light it up the room note and mouthfeel is very comparable. Thanks

Pretty Good English
No tongue bite, smokes cool and it remains spicy and licorice through the entire smoke. Amazing!

Nothing like dunhill!
Nothing like nightcap very dry rough tasting not even one percent as good as dunhill very disappointed but the delivery was quick.

Near Perfect Match
Good match to nightcap, but, doesn't seem to have quite the kick, so, I mix pound for pound with the original, gets it even closer as a perfect match and still saves you money. So, if you like a rich, full flavored smoke with some kick and no bite, give this a shot. As always, P&C has a great selection, great prices, and shipping that can't be beat. Thanks again P&C for another match.

Tastefully heavy with no burnt bite
Can't say much more than this is a great and flavorful smoke that will remain in my rotation. Having never tried dunhil's blend of this I can't compare the two, what I can say is this stuff is superb and a safe buy.

I recommend this
Very tasty blend.I haven't smoked Nightcap since the late 90's,so due to the time lapse,I can't say if it is spot on or not. If you want a good full mixture,buy/try this one.I recommend this.

Nightcap has been a favorite of mine since the late 1960's. This match is very good and has good body and a lot of depth. But these days none of the Latakia seems to have the saltiness of the old days. Other than that, I have 16 ounces of this and it is pretty good in its own right.

Better Than The Original
Honestly, I like it better than the original Dunhill Nightcap. I heard a lot about NC before I got to try it and when I did finally try it I just wasn't that impressed. Bit of a let down quite honestly. When the NC Match arrived in my Pipe Tobacco of the Month Club box I was a little disappointed at first. I figured if I didn't care much for the original, how good could a match be? Well, I was wrong! I can't put this stuff down. Once I finish the 4 oz I have now, I might have to order some more of this...maybe by the pound! Definitely worth giving it a try.

strong flavored full bodied flavor has a slight bite to it but mixes well with cavendish in the woods to reduce the bite very enjoyable tobacco

This is an excellent match to Nightcap. I found it slightly drier, and that made if even more relaxing. My only regret is that I only purchased 2 ounces.

Very Good "Match"
As a purveyor of many Dunhill blends, I find the Nightcap Match a very close facsimile of the name brand. It smokes cool and evenly and although the moisture content of the blend is somewhat drier than the tinned original, it delivers the same basic notes as it's more expensive counterpart. In short, a great value and one that is sure to please a seasoned pipe smoker.

Spot on mix
I recently purchased the Match Blend Nightcap from P&C. I was pleased myself with the taste and quality taken to get as close to the Original mixture. I then put it to the test. A good friend of mine who got me back into pipe smoking is the person who put me on the trail of Nightcap to begin with. I gave him an ounce to try. He is very picky when it comes to tobaccos and flavors. After a few bowls of the Match Nightcap, he was impressed at how close if not identical to the original that the Match Bland is. Thank you for the great variety and high quality of your products you continue to produce and distribute to us.
