MATCH Revelation

This is a match to House of Windsor Revelation. The original was one of Albert Einstein's favorites, and this blend captures the essential character of the old classic, combining yellow and red Virginias, nutty cube-cut Burley, smoky Latakia and zesty Perique with a soft, dark fruit top note to create an distinctly old fashioned flavor and room note.  Fans of the original will find MATCH - Revelation to be a fine substitute.

A nice snoke
I decided to try Match Revelation for 2 reasons, I'm a fan of Einstein and I wanted something beside my normal aromatics. I was not disappointed, in my opinion I pick up the the flavor of the Latakia pretty early on and enjoy everything else that goes along with it. I will definitely be buying Match Revelation again.

Very good tobacco
Good and interesting, thoroughly enjoyed this tobacco

I like it
I buy Revelation Match pipe tobacco because I like the flavor, rate of burn, and aroma. I was pleased to find a source for a tobacco I used to smoke before it went off the market.

Look forward to repeat order
Match Revelation fits well with my tastes. Has a slight aromatic touch. I enjoy the cut of the tobacco, too. Burns well, not harsh and does not contain the "stringy" tobacco cuts so many of the other blends contain.

Smooth smoke
Satisfying blend

Very Enjoyable Mild English Blend
I tried both this and Epiphany, I like them both very much but prefer this. The nicotine isn't quite as strong and I can smoke this all day. Has a nice mellow flavor, slight smokiness with a nice bit of pepper/spice. Burns well and didn't notice any tongue bite.

Not bad
Never had the original so I cannot compare them. To me it tastes like most otc blends but with a little something extra. Meant for large pipes.

Interesting blend- quite enjoyable.
Nice smoke. Although I don't taste much of the topping(s) I like it anyway. Not a "lat bomb" by any means but it's there in a sufficient amount for me. Cool burning and no bite. Somewhat spicy (perique?) but still quite mellow, nice plain old full tobacco aroma, consistent throughout the bowl, and it stays lit very well. My wife said she didn't like how it smelled at all but since I only smoke outdoors, so be it. Will definitely stay in my non-aromatic rotation. I'm beginning to like my English and Balkan type blends more than I used to. Trying to develop a more educated palate in order to recognize different components but for now I'll just say it's good stuff! Thanks for reading.

Nice smoke for the price.
I ordered this because my wife has always remembered her Dad smoking the original Revelation. I can't compare it to the original but I like it. Smooth smoke with a nice flavor, good price. It was a bit dryer than I like, but that was easily cured.

Very enjoyable
First off I've never tried the original blend so I cant compare it to the match. I found this blend by itself to be very enjoyable. Great depth of flavor and a subtle top dressing to compliment the tobacco's. Overall I thought this blend was very nicely crafted.

A good bridge from Aros to English blends
Ordered an ounce of this and an ounce of Epiphany in order to compare them. This review is for Revelation Match. I smoked both in a briar, a cob, and a meer. Opened it and the room note was a bland fruit note, think not quite fresh dates and bland dark plums. Unfortunately, neither is fresh nor jumping out at you. The room note is simple tobacco smoke. Not smelling of anything bad nor really good, just a vague fruit tobacco smoke. The smoke is okay. The fruitiness pops up and it seems to tame the peppery Perique. It also feeds the floral taste of the Latakia. And this where the latakia comes in, though faintly. The amount is enough to give me the hint and floral taste but not enough to turn off somebody wanting to explore a latakia blend. There is no real pop here... just the average fizzle. The latakia feeds the fruitiness and it in turn tames the perique. The burley is there as a base for smoke puff clouds and balances the virginas and the perique... nothing really stands out front and center. More complex than your usual aro but less complicated than full on English or Oriental. Great bridge from aros to mild English blends.

First bowl of match Revelation
Theoretical physicist here, and a great fan of the Great Man. Some years ago, because of my physics background, I tried a Revelation match called "Epiphany" (Cornel and Diehl) and found it too strong for my wimpy taste. Match Revelation is much better in my opinion. But I was expecting more Latakia, which I am sucker for. I may try adding a little Latakia and see what I get. The wife is not a fan of any kind of tobacco smoke, but says the room note is ok. Overall, I like it as much or more than any of the many blends I have tried

Great smoke.
Great flavor, good sustained burn. Has all the ingredients I settled on as my favorites 50 years ago.

Mismatch Revelation
I started smoking Revelation when I was in college in 1971. I was glad to see somebody was going to duplicate the blend. Unfortunately, this isn't it. It's not even close to Revelation. It's kind of sweet, coursely cut and damp. If there's any Latakia or Perique in here (and Revelation had a light hint of both) I can't taste it. I won't be reordering this.

Super Mellow Light On The Taste
This tobacco is my go to smoke all day, between other blends. Little on the tase but it is there with subtle hints of smokiness.

Lane Revelation Match
I thought that I would give Lane Revelation Match a try. My preference in pipe tobacco is medium strength English blends. This version of Revelation is quite light in its flavor profile which probably would be preferable to those who are seeking an all day blend. I limit my smoking to one or two bowls in the evening and prefer a tobacco with more flavor. In the past I have found Cornell and Diehl's Epiphany to be more to my liking and will be ordering more of it.

Good Stuff !!!
The more I smoke it--the better I like it--Cool--even burning-not overpowering --but very pleasing with ample flavor. Packs good --stays lit--needs a little drying out. Could become my favorite !!

Great customer service
I love p & c. Great customer service and I won’t go anywhere else!

Took a look at in--OH NO !! Real course cut---however it packed tight--stayed lit--burned real smooth and even all the way down. Never smoked the original Revelation but the match is very good--might be the one I'm looking for--very comfortable and satisfying smoke--not real heavy but ample taste--could use a bit more Latakia--but overall --well pleased.Want to try a few more Match Blends but do like this one !!!

NOT like original Revelation, but not bad either!
First of all, this match is NOT like the original Revelation at all! It is too sweet...a somewhat sweet casing of some sort, the cut is all wrong, more coarse with big twig like hunks of burley & large pieces of virginia flake, and more latikia. It burns a little hot and faster no doubt due to the semi sweet casing. The mixing is uneven as well. I am an older very experienced pipe smoker & smoked Revelation as a regular until it was finally unavailable.....and this ain't it!! HOWEVER, all that being said, this 'match' is a not bad lighter Americanized 'English' style blend and for what it is is not bad and quite smokeable..(is that a word?) I bought a pound to try and am enjoying it... even though I will probably not reorder the same 'match' again. It's certainly NOT like the original Revelation, but a pretty good smoke anyway!

2017 batch different from 2016 batch
Never tried the original, so I'm no help there. Ordered some in 2016 and was knocked out by the experience. It was out of stock most of 2017, so when it finally reappeared I ordered. Unfortunately, what I received was not the same thing. "New" batch looked and tasted more like Epiphany that what I received before. Not necessarily a bad thing, but rather disappointing.

I remember seeing the original Revelation many years ago, but never tried it. Now I wish I had, if it was as good as this, I sure missed out on some good stuff. I ordered 16 ounces of this, and after one bowl in a well behaved Savinelli bent apple, I am hooked. This is good tobacco, no negative comments from me, will order more.

Revelation Resurrected!
Its but a small touch off from the original Revelation. It was wonderful to smoke the MATCH Revelation, bringing good memories and good taste. Well done!!

Pleasant smoke -- no Lat bomb
Latakia is present in smaller amounts and not over-powering, and I did not even notice the Perique, two characteristics I really liked. Bite-free. Got a rare thin, weak smoke, probably from how much of the very wide and long ribbons that are a small part of the mixture were loaded in that fill. Sometimes needed a little drying time before loading to prevent leaving some un-burned, wet tobacco in the heal before the taste got funky. My rating is based on it doing very well for the type of blend it is, and not on how much I liked it personally. A pleasant mild-to-medium American English aromatic. Latakia forward, but far from a Lat bomb, and, of course, Einstein was against any kind of bomb. Smoking it didn’t seem to make me any more intelligent. If you want a pleasant, flavorful, mild-medium, smoky and slightly sweet experience, you’ll find it here. As Einstein might say (but probably wouldn’t) “Smoke what you like, and like what you smoke”.

One of my favorite tobaccos, good anytime.

Even My Wife Likes It
I'm really enjoying this blend. I never tried the real thing, but, on it's own, this is a nice, light, and balanced English. I generally prefer Latakia bombs, but those usually make my wife complain about the room note. This is one that satisfies both of us.

Nice flavor, but not enough of it
I don't have experience with the blend this is a match for, so no comparisons here. This blend doesn't have enough body for me. It's a bit too light in strength. The aroma and flavor are nice, but very light and, to my palette, unsatisfying.

My favorite go to choice right now.

Nice blend for a great price
Revelation is a decent blend on it's own, but I use MATCH Revelation as the base for my blend. I combine it with a good amount of either 10 to Midnight or Plum Pudding, and sweeten it up with a bit of Russ' Old Glory. It makes for a nice balance that burns cool with sweet dark fruit top note. It's also a great way to stretch your tobacco supply too.

A mild but delightful blend.
I'm a fan of bold latakia blends, but when I saw that this had been one of Albert Einstein's favorites, I had to give it a try. As others have mentioned,it does not have the punch that latakia lovers may be looking for, but I nonetheless found it a pleasant smoke, mild, a little woody, a little herby - like sipping a nice cup of herbal tea. While I do enjoy it on its own, I enjoy it even more when mixed with a heavier latakia blend. Overall, I was very pleased to find that Einstein's preferences in tobacco were much more sensible than his views on space and time... and now I'm wondering what tobaccos Henrik Lorentz and Henri Bergson enjoyed!

Darned good stuff!
A new favorite for me. I never enjoyed the original but, this is one that I have added to my regular order. I will surely keep this in stock . Nice flavor and aroma. Perfect for relaxing after a long day.

I love this tobacco. It reminds me of sitting in an old professor's private study surrounded by physics books and chalkboards scribbled with equations. It's smooth, woodsy, and not too strong. I smoke it in my Macqueen Seafarer pipe, perfect for a Saturday morning watching the sun come up. Highly recommended

So So
I thought this blend was kinda "blah". I added some extra Latakia and it perked it up to something smokable.

Just OK
Being a fan of all the types of tobaccos used in this blend I thought Revelation Match would be a shoe-in for addition into my rotation. Not the case however. I found it to be rather bland and unsatisfying although I did like the cut of the tobacco and it burned well right down to the bottom of the bowl. Given the tobaccos in this mixture I just expected more of a punch...didn't happen. I wouldn't say it's a bad smoke but just OK. May try it again in the distant future.

Personal favorite
As being a new pipe smoker I will try my best to be accurate. This is one of the few blends I've had to where it's one I will remember that just has that right taste. I only ordered an ounce but man I regret it. I'm use to quite moist blends and this one was ready to go straight out the bag. I only give it four stars because I don't have the expertise to expand on it anymore than that.

A Good Companion
A solid cured Virginia leaf flavor with English tones, and with an overtone that changes with my mood that day. Fascinating and relaxing, and a good smoke for reading. Good with a cup of coffee. For me, smokes best in a longer stem, heavier pipe. I have been using it for awhile now, and very much like the blend.

I like it!
Just got this from p&c a couple of days ago. I am a big fan of burley and Virginias. Nice mild smoke. There is a taste that is hard to identify that I really enjoy. Nice.

Hint of clove. Winter time tobacco. Don't overthink it, just smoke it. Never had the original.

A most enjoyable mixture. Not an exact match with the original. Too much fruit casing I think. But still quite nice. Service on my order was outstanding. Thank you.
Customer Testimonials
The batch of MATCH I am now enjoying is probably superior to the last batch I had of the "original recipe". Will be ordering more when this lot is gone. A very tasty blend, recommend smoking slowly.
DV of Bedford, PA
A milder, fairly smooth smoke. I kind of like it, may order more.
BR of saum, MN
Seems close enough to the original to satisfy me, probably just a touch closer than C & D's Epiphany, if it matters. A great blend in its own right, if you like this type of pipe weed, mildly "English" with a slight fruit topping. I do, very much.
