The all-new Mark Twain corncob has a smooth Dublin shaped bowl with a large capacity. This pipe was made for long, contemplative smokes after a busy day. Sit back, pack a bowl and relax with the brand new addition to the Missouri Meerschaum collection of cobs. The Mark Twain is the perfect large, lightweight corncob that you have been waiting for. It comes in bent and straight stemmed models.
A handsomely constructed pipe with a big inner diameter to pack plenty of your favorite tobacco. It's my favorite everyday pipe.
Just recieved my Mark Twain and fired it up. Like all my other MM'S it smoked cool and dry. This pipe is replacing my recently retired Danish Spool and though not as large a bowl as the spool, the classic Dublin style will more than make up for that. Another great pipe from MM and again great service from P.C. !
This is a great pipe for the beginner or someone looking to test a cob. I like the bent shape and bowl size. I use it fairly regularly and have great flavor since breaking it in.
I second all of these awesome comments here- such a great find from a timeless pipe making company.
The black plastic stems are too soft, the old standard yellow stems seemed to be harder? Pipe smoked well, just thought the stem was disappointing.
In regards to the loose stem issue, do any of the past reviewers find this particular issue has resolved itself following a couple of smoked bowls of tobacco? Just curious and thank you...11.25.2014
I've had three bowls of SPC' s Mississippi River in my new bent Mark Twain and this is one fine combination! I have a full collection of the Missouri Meerschaum cobs and this may prove to be the best. The bowl is just the perfect size and shape for my taste. I'm going to buy a couple more just to have the spares.
I love this pipe! I am probably ruining it with over use and not letting it rest. Completely neutral to the tobacco flavor. Weight and balance are very nice. Price point is remarkable. Every time I pick it up I feel like I have a fishing rod in my hand and a summer on the water never has to end. My handful of briars is getting ignored.
Just received my Mark Twain today. I've smoked it through the break-in period already. This is a terrific pipe, and I will purchase more.
This one instantly became my favorite cob. Great shape. Perfect bowl size. Smokes like a dream. I had the same loose stem issue that others have complained of, but this is a problem easily solved if you do a little internet research on loose stems. Worth the minor fix for what I think is the best cob out there. Especially for this price.
I love my Mark Twain MM, like all MM cobs, it is a cool and dry smoker. The big bowl holds plenty of my favorite tobaccos and feels great in my XXL size hand. I overcame the loose shank/stem fit problem with a custom stem, something I do anyway with all my cobs.
I received my MM Mark Twain last night in the mail and fired up for my late evening smoke. The bowl was a perfect size and shape for about an hour smoke. The only problem I had was the stem was very loose in the shank. That was a disappointment but for the price I can handle it. Pipes and Cigar might want to do a little quality and control because this is the second review stating the same problem. Other than that I have 9 other MM cobs and I enjoy them more often than my briars.
I really like the shape and size of the pipe and it smokes well, just like I would expect from an MM. However, I was disappointed to find that the bit was quite loose. It appears to be an issue of the mortise being a touch too large for the bit. I figured that out when I tried using bits from other MMs that I have. While I understand that this issue is most likely from the factory and for the price you can expect some flaws (some much more manageable than others), it was still disappointing. This certainly won't discourage me from buying MMs in the future, but I might stick to the ones that I can get at the tobacco shop and inspect myself, even if they don't come in as many cool shapes.
One of my favorite authors comes together with my favorite style of pipe... the Dublin. I bought a pouch of Missouri Pride, as well, and they were immediately included into my rotation. I will be ordering more of both to be sure!
Received my Mark Twain MM pipe today . Have smoked it several times already . The bowl is the perfect size for a satisfying smoke , good feel in the hand or even to hold in your teeth . I smoke a 50-50 blend of Gawith&Hoggarth Burley&Bright and blending AAA burley ,good flavor and room note . The Mark Twain I just received is a straight stem , going to order the bent stem next . They will make a good addition to my other MM's. Anyone that smokes MM'S will really enjoy the Mark Twain .
What good things can one say about MM cobs that hasn't been said already? Another stellar smoker, it's like MM took 1/4 of the top of a freehand off and recreated the wheel. And it's a wheel you gotta have guys. Just order a couple and you'll be just fine.
This pipe is the perfect size for my preference. Nice big bowl, good weight and great finish. Also, this pipe smokes great with Ole Shenandoah Barrel No. 76 just, like all of the other MM corncobs that I have.
Nice big bowl, good heft and lot's of classic look. Can't wait to fire it up!
Awesome 5 stars
Just got my Mark Twain pipe in the mail today and couldn't be happier! Very cool looking( I got the bent) and exactly what I wanted. It's the same height and chamber size as the Country Gentleman, with a hardwood plug like the Gentleman; so if you have one of those, you will know what to expect from the Twain. Smokes great, as do all Missouri Meerschaums, so get one!
