It’s what it’s supposed to be
A nose warmer for sure. Draws easily, can see this getting hot without adjusting your pace. A tasting pipe I’m not sure, I think it’s a “favorite blend” sort of pipe. A bowl or 3 run through and vanishes is the “charred wood” taste imparted by breaking in such a pipe. For the money it’s a great piece. Bought 4 and maybe miniature pipe kits for my good friends.

Fun conversation piece to smoke out of, gives a unique taste to any tobacco you put in it at first. Definitely not made to last forever.

This is a very nice pipe. I like the size of the bowl and also the flat bottom of the bowl. You can set it down and it won't tip over. It's easy to pack and smokes well.

Great Drawing Inexpensive Pipe , Fantastic Bang For The buck.
For an inexpensive knockabout pipe, you can't do better for the price. This is the one I keep in my tacklebox when I go fishing . I use a 2 layer pack method with a small mesh ball in the bottom due to the smaller bowl, and it burns like a champ for 20 minutes plus, which is plenty for me. The bowl DOES get pretty hot pretty fast, but that's to be expected with one this shallow. I run a cleaner through it every 2 to 3 bowls, and it is the easiest draw out of all of my pipes, even my rather spendy ones. All in a all a great buy for the money

Bent smokes better than the straight. I got this one for cherry aromatics only. Looks like stained maple or birch... not sure. Cool pipe for everyday. I like it.

An excellent pipe for an excellent price.
Great knock around pipe for a great price. I dedicated this one to my aromatic blends The bowl can get a tad hot if you puff a little too much. But other than that it’s a great pipe for beginner to veteran pipe smokers.

Mini maple. Needs a better stem, but is an AMAZING tester outside of the corncob selections.
Can never go wrong with a Missouri Meerschaum .Went with the Mini maple for a mini straight. For the price you can't really go wrong. But i don't like the overly small hole in the bottom of the stem. I grabbed this to sample my Balkan Supreme and it did amazing. Great even pull; Even with my filters not fitting it. I'd keep some of the longer version and the mini's of the Ozark line around for testing new blends and for friends no doubt. The mini's need better stems! As with most new pipes, the first smoke has a "taste" give it a good char, and no problem!

420 Approved
Love this pipe. I named mine Buddy . Perfect size for that discrete 420 smoke. Fits inside a soft sunglass case and your prescription bottle of bud that the nose can't deny. The website makes it so easy to order several as gifts to your fellow OG smoker.

As far as Missouri Meerschaum,
As far as Missouri Meerschaum, you get what you pay for. As far as corn cobs go, they have the best you can buy, but still, each pipe needs to be slightly “customized” small modifications that vastly improve them. I like to slightly melt the tip, otherwise it has edges that haven’t been sanded or de-burred. It tends to irritate my tongue until I do this slight modification. I prefer the hardwood version that they sell. I’ve had several for almost a year and they take a long while to break in, but can eventually make awesome little pipes that are light, and can be gripped easily by the teeth. I prefer the thicker bowl designs, and eventually, you can see the tobacco juice infusion of the wood almost like a real meerschaum… Then again, it’s a $5-10 pipe, so what can you expect? It’s not a Stanwell but you better believe it’s worth the money. If you aren’t keeping it long term a Cobb is fine. If you’d rather keep it long term, do yourself a favor and buy the hardwood version

Great pipe for the price point
I'm not worried about stature or looks too much. I'm about founction and ease of use. This pipe is great. It's easy to pack and burns well. I also like that it's light. I'm usually working on thing in my garage, mowing or doing something else when smoking so my pipe hangs in my mouth most the time. This one will not make your mouth tired. It's also far enough out you don't get smoke in your eyes.

Gets the Job Done
Good inexpensive pipe for afternoons out in the workshop. Finish is not perfect, particularly some sharp edges and flash on the stem, but a razor blade took care of that. I have a couple of these pipes bought at different times. Will buy more in future, as well as the value is great.

Low Price High Performance
Let's be honest, she ain't winning any beauty contests. But if you want a knock around pipe that's not going to break your heart if it gets lost or damaged, and still smokes like a champ, you'd be hard pressed to find something better. I keep a few Ozark hardwoods on hand for trying new blends, or for freebies when someone forgets their own, or wants to try out piping. Never been disappointed with they way these babies smoke. I put an amber bit on one of these and after a couple years of using it as a go-to traveler and beater, it's turned a very nice deep shade, which has improved this pipes appearance immensely.

Great Utility Pipe, Great Price
This is a great little knockabout pipe that is just the right size for an average length smoke. The price is cheap and if it gets lost or broken it can easily be replaced. I carry this one in the boat, hunting vest, fly fishing vest and keep one in my truck glove box. And it smokes surprisingly good. I like the flat poker style bottom. You can set it down and not worry about spillage if something else comes up. Don't get it too hot and it should last just fine. Highly recommend it for a spare or an everyday pipe.

For an inexpensive pipe, it
For an inexpensive pipe, it does what is expected....it is a short smoke (for people on break), it is light in the mouth (for people with dentures), and it is an easy pipe to carry in your pocket......I am very hard on pipes, and this is the tenth one that I've bought and I shall continue to purchase them as long as I can ! The only problem that I have is that here in Vermont it is difficult finding the filters so I have to buy them in large quantities .

Great starter pipe, but....
Great color and look for a affordable hardwood, although you can tell its a mass produced piece, as the stain did not take to the fine grain too readily. The wood itself it rather light and very soft. I tamped out the old ash on my outdoor chair and it left a slight indentation at the crest of the bowl. Never had that problem with their cob pipes. The finish used is on the interior of the bowl, and the first 5 or so smokes I got a wood stain flavor, which was rather unpleasant. I would typically just set the pipe down after a few puffs and let it burn down, hoping the flavor would cook away. You get what you pay for, and for a beginner smoker this is a decent wood pipe so learn to smoke on and not worry about scorching when lighting or smoking too hot, but I think Missouri Meershaum should stick to their original perfection. The Corn Cob.

Look no further for a great pipe!
This is amazing pipe. It smokes great, filter is 6mm, forget the price, this is as good as a pipe as any high cost pipe. This pipe is made of birch wood. I have owned and smoked my pipe for 10 years, never has it it burned out, easy to replace the bit. .79 cents to replace bit. Thick walls, the cherry is the stain not the wood. This is incredible buy. Also buy from pipes and cigars.com, great company, incredible customer service.

No fuss no nonsense pipe. Like the cobs from M.M. it has that genuine rustic simplicity that I find so esthetically pleasing. Like most pipes, it requires a few smokes to rid it of material flavor but after that it is a great smoking pipe. Unbeatable value.

Perfect little pipe
I have a lot of pipes and a wide variety. It's funny but my Go-To pipes that always give me a pleasureable smoke are the least expensive ones in my collection-- Missouri Meerschaums. This little hardwood is no exception. Great draw, smooth and easy to break in. Trememndous value.

Bent cherry- regular size
A most excellent pipe! Walls of bowl are nice n thick. Pipe smokes great and will even accommodate a 6mm filter (my pipe came with a filter in it) The cherry seems to be superior in quality to the maple hardwood ( I have ordered 2 maple hardwood and 1 cherry) and the cherry is my favorite. Great smoking pipe for a mere $5!

They are great!
Great pipes! When you work hard and want your pipe going with you and not being afraid of loosing or busting it these are the best! Almost as good as a hat. They are tough, have a great size bowl, and great draw stand up to hard landings. On a farm when they fall out of your mouth and land not necessarily where your gonna put it back in your mouth, well then best pipe ever. Buy many they are beyond just a great pipe.

Great pipe for the price
Great little knock-around pipe for the price. It will need some work to break in properly given the nature of the wood and the stain. The shank on mine sits a bit high in the bowl, so I usually pack tobacco with the air pocket method. Worth the investment, so to speak.

Simple, Yet Very Effective
This review goes for both the straight and bent varieties, as I bought one of each, and they're both fantastic pipes for the price, and then some. They both smoke better than my any of my $30-$40 corner store pipes, and as such have replaced them as my everyday work pipes. The plastic stems are pretty soft, and don't hold up too well being clenched between the teeth all day. But as replacement stems are only 79¢ a piece, I can't even call this a complaint. Just tag a few replacement stems onto your order if you're an all-day smoker like me and you'll be good to go!

I've had my pipe for about 5 years now. I love it. the price is great, never a problem with it. The stem will loosen over time, but that can be fixed. If you smoke this pipe with a screen, thumb pressed in, just below the bowls rim, there's no risk of over heating, and cracking the bowl. This is a great pipe. Trust me.

Good little knock-about for little dollars
No one is going to mistake this one for a Savanelli, but then again, it's a four dollar pipe. Very comfortable to clinch, lightweight, very good draw. Almost gave it four stars, then thought about the value for money spent, and gave it the extra star it deserved based on that variable alone. Be aware that you are going to get a bit of an unpleasant raw wood flavor for the first few uses. Also be aware that goes away very quickly. Can't imagine a better little knock-about the yard or garden companion. I plan to buy more to "fiddle" with.

Cheap way to get into pipe smoking
Great pipe for the price. I was not sure if I would enjoy smoking a pipe so this was a very cheap investment. The stem removes from the bowl and comes apart also for easy cleaning. 6mm balsa filters work in the stem also.

Even better than my last meerschaum
Well hot damn, I thought my corncob was a great go to until I picked up this one. Nice deep bowl, great draw, smokes to the bottom. The bend works nicely for me (cant wet the tobacco when Im holding it in my mouth and doing various daily activities). Once again another one almost beats out my favorites. Well, for a daily it does, definitely getting another.

Great size, one major flaw
Great size, nice draw, smokes nice for the fist 1/2-2/3 of the bowl. Major flaw: The stem goes in far above the bottom of the bowl, and you are left with a lot of unsmoked and unsmokable tobacco below the draw hole. Most cobs have a mud in period, but the stem is cut at an angle and rests on the bottom of the bowl. This one is nearly flush cut with the chamber, and is a full 1/3 of the way, possibly more, up the chamber. Might be good if you use the "tobacco ball air gap" packing method, otherwise expect to waste a bunch of tobacco with each bowl you pack.

Nice little pipes
I bought my first one about three months back and its developed a large vertical split in the bowl although so far it hasn't gone in enough to admit air. Unbeatable for the price so I bought two more. Its just the right size for a pipe to smoke on the go, holds enough for satisfaction without being a pipe that seems to make a bowl last forever. Its my every day pipe, light, good looking and unbeatable for the price.

nice and light.
Great little wood pipe. I have two (bought one, got one in a bag of MM smokeable seconds) and enjoy them both. They weigh very little, about the same as a cob. Much lighter than the filled cobs like the Country Gentleman. If you enjoy this hardwood give one of the east European pearwoods a chance.

I guess the old saying you get what you pay for holds true here. This was a cheap pipe, and looks cheap upon close inspection. It smokes nice though, but I only smoke it at home so looks aren't that important. I still gave it 5 stars because it still functions perfectly and I have no REAL complaints.

Can't be beaten among low budget pipes
For the price, it's hard to beat. I like it as a working pipe because I don't have to worry about losing it or destroying it. Is it the greatest pipe? No, but it is the greatest 5 dollar pipe. I've had mine for 2 months now and plan on ordering a couple more. The stem is really soft and gets bitten up easily, but it hasn't broken. If you're just starting out or on a budget these are also great to put in your rotation until you can afford something better.

Ozark Hardwood Cherry Bent
It is as all pipes. Works great after cleaning. 6 mm paper roll filters, cut in half. full length will not fit after a couple bowls smoked. I do use clay stones & screen. after 3-6 bowls. Moisture & Tar cover everything at bottom of pipe. Moisture plays A Hugh roll.. To dry 2 puffs, & all gone and not any flavor. to wet and your basically lighting all the time. Also, on dry side pipe will burn up Quickly ! Nice little pipe.

Great looking. Light wieght. Good price.
I enjoyed my first time use with this pipe. My first pipe is heavier and bigger. So, I was delighted that it was light enough so that I could clench this pipe and comfortably enjoy my tobacco without holding it as often. Although mine has a gap where the wood portion enters the bowl and smoke exits this gap. For a five doller pipe I don't mind that and plan on trying to either adjust it or fill it in somehow. The bowl is smaller than my first pipe that takes a 9mm filter. This pipe takes a 6mm. I don't have filters for it yet. I like the classic hardwood finish. It seems to be well made. The band on the mouthpiece has a grey band that I don't care for. Since I don't have experience to know what I like. I think I may try and find a saddle bent mouthpiece if I ever replace this one. My girlfriend got me a pipe with a saddle bend mouthpiece and I do like that, but not the actual bowl on that one. So, overall. I think this pipe is going to be fine for me. I just need to fill the gap, buy a 6mm filter, and hopefully find a saddle bend mouthpiece. For now it works just fine.

Nice pipe, but a little different than the specs
This is my first attempt at a pipe coming from a cigar background. And, I have to admit that I am hooked on the flavor and room note! Not knowing what I would find though, I decided to start with this MM Ozark model (bent stem, cherry color). First off, please be warned that the bowl is not 5/8" as the specs say; instead, mine is 3/4". While I actually prefer to have the option for a longer smoke, I ordered brass screens from the spec sheet info before my order arrived. So, needless to say, the screens are too small by an eighth of an inch. Also, after seeing a few reviews that mentioned the bowl's varnish tainting the taste for the first couple of smokes, the first thing I did was to sand the inside of the bowl with a Scotch Brite pad. (if you choose this method, be sure to clean out all residue before attempting to use the pipe. The green pads deteriorate slightly when used; and I doubt it will be a good idea to ingest it! Sand paper was my first choice, but I didn't have the right grit for the job.) After a good cleaning, I tried a bowl of molto dolce that I let sit for a bit to dry some. I was very impressed and did not notice any trace of the varnish at all. A minor thing that bothers me though is how tightly the stem fits. I have to really apply some force when changing filters--this is much more easily fixed than if it were too loose though... Other than that, I am very pleased with this pipe and P&C altogether. I'm very glad to have found a 'dessert blend' that actually tastes similar to its aroma. And, this MM pipe is a great place to start or to use on the go to avoid damaging a more expensive piece. Also, it's much more enjoyable to me than any cigar to date ;-) Thanks for the great selection and competitive prices PÐC!

Fine Birchwood Pipes @ a Great Price
I purchased both the Maple and the Cherry; they smell and taste the same. As I understand it, the “hardwood” used in both of these pipes is Birch wood (the same as the shanks on the other Missouri Meerschaums) that has been stained. The reason to buy one of these, however, is not the color but to get more variety in your pipe materials – you probably have a briar, a corncob, even a rosewood or clay – perhaps – and this is your chance to get a HARDWOOD pipe for $5! It is Birch, it smokes well (though it can get hot if pushed, and – as with other MMs – the act of charring the shank in the bowl can be unpleasant). The inner bowl and stem charred quickly, in just a few smokes. The biggest complaint is with the Straight/”Maple,” because that shank was not attacked to the bowl, so when I pulled out the stem to clean it, the shank came out with the stem. I have applied a drop of wood glue, smeared it around, and fully expect that to hold. If it does not, I will log in again and review the Maple separately (& negatively). Regardless, to get a HARDWOOD pipe for $5 is an remarkable bargain.

Not a bad pipe for bad tobacco.
Bought this pipe with a corncob because my daughter bought me a cheap bag of tobacco. Not wanting to Funk up my Peterson's and Rattray's pipes with sub-par tobacco and being one who throws nothing away. I like the size being small and only holds a about 15 mins. of tobacco (about all I can handle of this crap my daughter got me). I read the review before I ordered, so did a couple of modifications before lighting it for the 1st time. Smokes a little hot, but all in all not a bad $5.00 pipe. Once it was broken in. It's the perfect pipe when the possibility of loosing or damage may happen when I'm out running the tractor on the ranch. I used a Q-Tip with some Irish Whiskey on it to take the hard varnish taste on the first couple of bowls. I would buy this again the time comes.

Maple Straight Ahead!
I've written a review on this pipe before, but I use the $5 maple straight more than anything else I've tried. It's very light and it works. 5 years usage and no complaints. Best kept secret in the world of pipes. MM hit the ball out of the park on this one.

It's great . I got one and love it , I have more expensive pipes but I tend. To reach for this pipe , love it so much I ordered another , it wasn't as good as the 1st due to the Stem protruded inside the bowl a little further but overall it's still a great pipe , smokes great , makes great gifts as well , very cheap way to get into pipe smoking. I honestly wouldn't mind having more to put in my rotation

I picked this up as an afterthought to the Essentials package. I ended up picking up a Forever Stem and couldn't be happier. Smooth and cool smoke with a very distinctive look. It's ok.
I bought this because it was inexpensive and I'm just a "once in a while" pipe guy who is still learning. I already owned two decent pipes and wanted a third to add into a rotation. The pipe is fairly decent and light. It looks cool too. The only issue I have is how the stem just into the bowl at the bottom, taking up space and making packing tobacco kind of awkward for someone who is still trying to perfect that skill. Beyond that, it's ok and at least feels a little better quality than a corn cob, IMO.

2 down 2 to go
I love these little pipes. They are lightweight and easy to work with when working around the shop. The one thing you have to get used to though and this will go away after time is the taste of the shank going into the bowl. As long as you give it a couple extra puffs at the beginning of breaking it in the taste will go away. If you are used to a cob you will love this pipe.

Can't go wrong with this one
Don't let the price of this pipe fool you it is a great smoking pipe. If you break it in slow over the course of a couple weeks before loading up a full bowl this lightweight pipe makes a really good all day pipe. Missouri Meerschaum took what could have been a bad shortage of cobs into another masterpiece when it comes to no frills pipes. I myself am growing my collection of both their signiture cob and now their hardwood pipes. So go ahead and stop contemplating adding it to your cart and go ahead and get two or three you will not be disappointed.

Would not buy again.
Stem was 1/8 of an inch above bottom of bowl keeping me from smoking all the tobacco. Whatever finish is on bowl gets sticky when hot. Stem broke at mouthpiece after a week.

DEFINITELY worth the money!
Bowl doesn't heat up excessively when you smoke it. Very good draw. Kind of hard to keep lit, but other than that no complaints for an inexpensive pipe. If I, or you, ever need a quick, cheap replacement pipe, this is the go-to!

Meh
The one I got is not airtight and it's clogged like it's not drilled out properly. It's draw is horrible. I have lots of MM pipes and I love them. I'm really disappointed with this one. I got a lemon.
3 out of 5
Not for everyone.
It's alright. I dislike the fit-up, but construction is well done. Seems to burn out more and more as I get to the dottle. The last of any blend is made harsher by this. Worth the money for a pipe to use on the factory floor.
4 out of 5
Great for the money, if not a little hot.
This is a pretty nice little pipe. I got myself the straight Maple finish pipe. First of all, the pipes are not made of cherry or maple, that's just the finish that's on the wood. Let me start by saying the pipe I've got can burn a little hot, but with some slow easy smoking it can be managed pretty easily. I was initially wary of the Ozark due to some reports of excess varnish on the inside of the bowl, but I had no such issues, and frankly the inside of my bowl was about as clean as a man can hope. The pipe I recieved also has a bit of bowing, the bit (as Missouri Meerschaum calls it) fits a bit crooked, but it took me a while to even notice. It smokes pretty well but the heat can get a little out of hand if you're too quick with it, It's also a very light-weight pipe, and so I imagine the bent stem model would make for a great clencher. All things considered its a fantastic pipe for the money, especially considering you are in fact getting a WOODEN pipe. it has a great hand feel to it, and I can feel the wood grain ever so slightly on the bowl. Its just a pleasant little pipe.

First time pipe smoker here and this is the first pipe I have ever used. The pipe had a very strong varnish/shine or whatever it is flavor during the first smoke but after a quick clean of the bowl with alcohol and a few smokes that went away. Very fast shipping. Something Different
It burns a little hot and there is a definitely a slight taste from the stain during the first bowls. This is something you buy just to break up the rut of going from cob to briar. With a little sanding and a decent break in it should be a fun pipe for a shorter smoke.
4 out of 5
Small and lightweight
Small and lightweight. It's difficult to draw when filtered, but great unfiltered. The small bowl smokes hot if you're not careful, but this the price of a very light, clench-able pipe. I prefer these bent MM models as the stem's lower position in the bowl gives less dottle, smoking more completely. The initial varnish taste disappears after about two bowls, and is then pleasantly sweet. As with the other lightweight hardwoods, it's perfect for walking about and doing chores.
3 out of 5
Small and lightweight
It's lightweight, inexpensive, and suitable as a chore pipe. As with other MMs, I find the models difficult to draw when filtered but perfectly fine when the filter is removed. The entry of the stem to the bowl seems a bit high as well, again similar to other MM straight models I own. I end up with more dottle with straight stemmed MMs in general. The bowl smokes a bit hot compared to medium sized MM cobs since the bowl is smaller in outside diameter than most cobs. There's some varnish taste for the first bowl or two as you break it in, but it then chars up nicely and gives a decent sweet smoke.
5 out of 5
Number one in my pipe rotation.
Great lightweight pipe. Smokes great and is easy to hold in your teeth. The only suggestion I can make is be patient while breaking it in. It does taste a little like wood stainy at first. Run a bowl or two through it and then char it a bit with a torch type lighter. Once you broken it in you'll love it.

"Smallest pipe I've smoked thus far!"
"After trying this little M.M. Ozark Hardwood minature Cherry for a bit, I think its good for when you don't have a lot of time and need only a short smoke, which is good as far as this little pipe is concerned. I would notice a little moisture in the pipe stem after a while, and have used a pipe cleaner to help with that. I recommend that to anyone who uses any pipe for that matter! Keep up the good work Missouri Meeschaum!"

Doesn’t smoke well, hard to clean
Don’t know why, but goes out when my other MMs keep up. Burns hot. Also difficult to get into the stem to clean. Other MMs have been great, and in fact, I love the oak-like luster they take on the more you use one. This one, I think, is too light.

Excellent Pipe
I keep returning to this pipe. Very light weight, easy to clean, a sitter, and takes a bowl of 'backy without a problem. Scrape off any vanish with a pen-knife, clean the bowl with your favorite booze, and pack a bowl. A little hot sometimes? Yeah, but it feels nice on the hands. It's so cheap, you feel like you stole it. There's no gloss like a briar, but there's a rustic Americana charm to a maple-wood pipe. Makes you feel like Davy Crockett rather than Sherlock Holmes.

worst pipe ever i received it and there were splinters of wood left dangling in the bottom of the bowl, the stem easily removed from the bowl. over all a very low quality item that i am not impressed with

Good pipe for price.
Not bad for the price. But not great. Bowl burns hot and there is a lot of bite. For a quick smoke it's a good choice.

Great first pipe
I bought this pipe a year ago as my first pipe and have enjoyed many bowls since. I wanted a cheap pipe to get started, but corn cobs aren't my style and I didn't know enough about estate pipes to feel comfortable buying one. This was a great alternative and got me hooked into the pipe hobby!

Good little smoker.
I bought this for a quick smoke when I'm working on vehicles, and it doesn't disappoint! It's good for a 15 minute smoke, and is light enough to clench while turning wrenches. Will buy a few more to give to my pipe smokin friends!

Burns hot, hot to handle, cheap price but not recommended
This is one of three MM pipes that I own (I also have Country Gentleman & MacArthur 5-star cob pipe). It is my least favorite of the MM line. It burns incredibly hot and essentially ruins my tobacco experience. It gets hard to handle when hot and often find that I need to wear hand protection (ie gloves) just to smoke it. I plan on throwing this one away once I have a more extensive pipe collection, or just displaying it as non-functional piece. I do not recommend this pipe.

Excellent Working Pipe
I purchased the Ozark Hardwood Cherry Bent pipe. I absolutely love it! One, I like that it is lightweight. I'm a female pipe smoker who prefers smaller, more lightweight pipes over heavier ones. Two, I like the price point. If it breaks, oh, well. No big deal. Three, it smokes very well. I haven't had any problems with the draw.

Super value
This pipe does great for me and has lasted for weeks of use. I did not sand off the finish inside the bowl, as some have recommended, and it made no difference. This pipe smokes decently and is way more durable than its price would suggest.

Ozark Hardwood Cherry Bent
These are awesome hardwood pipes & for a price you just can't beat. I ordered 1 of each, but gave one set as a gift. I'm really enjoying the Ozark Hardwood Cherry Bent that I kept. It's an awesome smoker with a slightly larger bowl than a Legend.

Izard hardwood miniature maple
It's smokes fine, however it is exceedingly small therefore there's is a lot of bite when smoking. It smokes very hot and the bowl gets very hot but I must say it is perfect for a 15 minute smoke.

Bought this mini maple for a quick smoke outside way up here in the far north, I like it so much that I've already ordered the mini cherry version.

not a good pipe
Missouri Meerschaum's Miniature Maple Ozark is a silly novelty pipe that doesn't even come close to the quality of a cheap corn cob pipe. This is a novelty pipe that would be good for being a part of a costume or something. It's not a good pipe for smoking.

Decent little pipe
A decent little backup pipe that gets the job done. For the cost you can keep an extra one anywhere. They heat up too fast to be a full duty pipe but are good for a quick smoke.

A Winner!
Despite owning other pipes, I keep coming back to this humble Maple Straight over everything else. While it's true that the bowl can get hot, the light-weight and small bowl size works really well for me. Easy to set down on a desk with no fuss. No cracks or issues. Scrape the initial lacquer out of the bowl with a penknife and clean the bowl with your favorite booze (tequila in my case). The price is practically free. You can own a dozen of these without breaking a sweat.

Great buy... For a snowman
Tastes and smells like chemicals, and that's right out of the box. Smoked even worse. Exactly what I expected form a three dollar pipe though. Stuck it in a drawer in case I feel like making a snowman this winter.

disappointing
I wish this pipe would have lasted longer than a week. I love the size, shape, and price of this pipe. The pipe cracked with the first week of me having it.

Excellent overall
Best prices - Check Great quality - Check Quick service - Check I had to give up cigarettes a decade ago and gradually picked up cigars. My doctors threatened to shoot me if I continued puffing on my beloved stogies, so I had to stop even the occasional pricier stuff, BUT I REFUSED TO TOSS OUT MY PIPES and found the ideal place to get them new or from estates along with all their goodies. My doctors may be grumbling, but I'm once more a happy man thanks to Pipes & Cigars.

Purchased a couple of wooden pipes and they are great pipes for the value. Would recommend.

Just a good smoking cheap pipe...
Well what to say, I got the MM Ozark because i wanted a wood pipe other then my granddads Grabow. upon me getting it and starting to use it, noticed that it burned cooler like a corn cob pipe and smoked really good. only reason why i rate this item at a 4 over a 5 is because they have that birch stave in the bottom like MM corn cobs do and for the first few smokes, it is very bitter once you get to the stave. but once that stave is charred then it smokes great and looks pretty to.

You can't beat the price
I'm giving this 5 stars due to price and being new user friendly. Someone already commented about this being a good day to day beater pipe, and that it is.

quick and easy
It's a great pipe. I love to smoke it on the way to work. Short fifteen minute smoke time, and for the price I'm not worried about leaving it in my glove box or breaking it. Its shortbsimple and straight to the point.

glue
I love these pipes so it came as a surprise to me to have to clear , what appears to be some kind of glue from the bottom of the bowl where the stem comes in

Missouri Meerschaum Ozark hardwood cherry pipe
Ordered the bent and straight model. The bowl is on the smaller side, but good for a quick smoke. As others have said, need to sand down the inside bowl a bit until you hit wood. Did not get all the stain out, which left a sour-bitter taste. After a while got good smoke results. For $3.99 it is a good pipe to go to when tinkering around knowing it might get bumped around. Do not need to use the filter. Would buy again if I need an inexpensive pipe.

Not Bad Not Great
You have to carbonize it yourself other than that its great.

A great cheap pipe for heavy smokers.
Possibly the best cheap pipe I've ever smoked from. One will last me nearly a month before I toss it, where as most corn cobs and other cheap woods end up cracking in half from heat.

M&M cherry hardwood. I like this pipe so much I ordered a 2nd one. I like it better than the M&M maple. It seem taste better!

This is great and well priced good deal !
DH of Little Elm, TX
Great little pipe, especially for the price. The hardwood presence is definitely there when you take a drag with a new pipe and I thought that would be a problem. After a few bowls this was no longer an issue and this pipe has become one of my regular go tos for a quick smoke!
RR of compton, CA
Very nice pipe, i like it. Super fast shipping too. Happy customer.
JB of Sweeny, TX
Bad ass backyard cutting the grass pipe also for fishing. Smoke well draws well for the price a good deal.
JP of des plaines, IL
Can you find a better pipe for $4? Nope. I was happy with the aesthetics. the cherry bent i bought really is pleasing to behold, especially considering the price point. So far it has smoked like a champ, offering much more than a $4 should. my only gripe was that my stem was pretty darn loose. beeswax I am told is the fix for this. My bet is that most of these offerings have a nice tight stem and mine was a bit of a dud. Every other MM pipe I've bought has been solid so I am overlooking this. This one smokes just fine and for $4 i will invest in more. Don't hesitate to buy this!
JB of lakeside, IA
Stop thinking about it and just get one or two. You won't regret it.
RL of Colorado Springs, CO
Good pipe for the money. The bowl is on the small side. The bit on mine was extremely loose (used some boiling water to swell the stem and re-size the bit). Smokes really nice for a small pipe. I'm a big fan of MM cobs, and the Ozark is almost as nice. This little pipe will find a home in my motorcycles saddlebag.
JW of Hazelton, ID
Awesome little pipe. It 's s great smoker for a little price.
JG of South Chesterfield, VA
Nothing fancy, but it smokes. This is a good pipe if you want to smoke while doing outside chores.
BB of Wetumka, OK
A very good working mans pipe. Light weight, well put together, does not smoke hot or wet. Only thing I did not like was the bowl is varnished but the wood stem is only stained. I fixed that with some wipe on poly varnish though. One tip is to take some sandpaper and sand the inside of the bowl to get the varnish off. Makes the break in smokes more pleasing on your palate. I look forward to many smokes and this is going to be my bang around pipe.
RH of Boone, IA
As others have mentioned, you need to sand the extra lacquer from the inside of the bowl, but I love this little pipe. Its easy to handle and the perfect size for an after work smoke during my 20 minute commute. I'm going to get another one.
CH of Montfort, WI
Purchased the Ozark Hardwood Maple Straight. Under $5!! Along with scraping off the varnish (easy to do with a pocket-knife), I cleaned the bowl with Cuervo Gold. This is America's little secret.
MM of Riverside, CA
I love this pipe, it's cheap it can be smoked all day with out a problem. I choose this pipe more then some of my more expensive briar wood pipes.
KJ of Aiea, HI
I agree with the majority of the reviews above. Super little pipe for the money. I too took some sandpaper to the inside of the bowl when it arrived. First bowl of tobacco I could taste a tinge of the varnish. After that, Eureka! Will be ordering some more of these.
BO of South Burlington, VT
This pipe smokes as well as my way more expensive briars. I love this one so much that I just ordered a 2nd one. It does have a light coat of stain on the inside that I removed in less than a minute with the spay blade of my peanut trapper pocket knife. Pack it light and it stays pretty cool. I did notice a wood taste (that I found pleasant) on the 1st couple of bowls. I also removed the filter and find this to smoke smooth with no moistness in the bottom. It has become my go to pipe most of the time. Great for any price and a steal at under $10. Just clean the bowl before smoking and pack light, then you have a great smoking pipe that looks good, too. I highly recommend it.
WS of Haysville, KS
Great little pipe!!! I read the reviews and sanded the bowl out. It works and taste great. I will get some more of these.
JE of College Point, NY
I want to love this pipe, but I hate it. The aesthetics of it are nice for a very cheap pipe. I was expecting that because of the design that it would offer a smoking experience similiar to a corn cob. Boy was I ever wrong! I've read about the staining making it into the inside of the bowl. I have a nice thin layer of char on the inside walls of this thing and every single time I smoke it I get a nasty wood burning taste. This pipe makes all of my blends taste the same with bitter and acrid smoke. The only blend I have been able to taste is a Dunhill English blend with adequate amounts of Latakia. Save your money and get a cob.
JF of Bellbrook, OH
Besides having varnish in the bowl, which I removed with sand paper. It's a nice little pipe for everyone. Especially when trying new tobaccos. I pre-carbonized it overnight, then enjoyed my first taste of Sutliff's (Private Stock) Molto Dolce. Nice little pipe and extremely good aromatic tobacco.
PB of High Springs, FL
..A great value for this quality hardwood pipe !
JC of Westbury, NY
This is really a great little pipe! It looks good and smokes nice. Very light and easy to hold between the teeth. Not as much break in time required as for the maple pipes. I would like to have one with a larger bowl, such as the maple Diplomat.
JB of Seguin, TX
Beautifull smaller pipe for a very good price. Light weight to me put together very well. If you are wanting a good priced good quality product I highly recommend any thing made by Mo Merschaum.

Very basic but good smoke. The finish is a bit rough but for the price a winner.

First time smoking with a pipe its perfect for it's price and is great
JS of Chicago, IL
Broke this pipe in tonight with Pete st sweet vanilla,I have to agree a very nice pipe,my new favorite,I'm going to order a bunch more since I now have a good variety of tobaccos, and it takes a 6mm filter, very very nice and for me the bowl is just right. PEACE!
GP of El Cajon, CA
awesome small pipe! great for a quick smoke. definitely recommend you add this to your collection
CG of Coral Springs, FL
I've had one of these for a couple of months now and it's done its duty better than I ever thought a $4 pipe could. Now that it's broken in, I feel like I can take it wherever I go and not worry about it like I would my nicer briar. I have no doubt this will outlast a corn cob at a similar price.
JR of Carmel, IN
not a bad pipe for the money. I did need to sand off the varnish from the inside of the bowl. Once some cake gets built up I'm sure it'll taste fine once its broken in.
TB of Smithfield, RI
I have been absolutely blown away by the MM Maple Ozark pipe (full size). I almost hate to admit it (because I love my briars), but this has got to be the most versatile, best smoking pipe I own. I initially resited trying this pipe because of other reviews I had read claiming the "thick lacquer" on the inside of the bowl imparted a bitter, chemical taste to the smoke. Intrigued by the neat look and ridiculously low price, I finally decided there was really nothing to lose in trying it - and man am I glad I did! The pipe I received did indeed have lacquer inside the bowl, but was not at all thick or hard, and within about five minutes with some 150 grit sandpaper, I had the bowl sanded down to the bare maple. I also replaced the stem with Danish amber stem (a $0.50 upgrad from MM that really makes the pipe look sharp and more comfortable to clench). There was absolutely NO break-in period with this pipe, and from the very first smoke I tasted no ill-effects to the tobacco, with just a very subtle, pleasant sweetness added by the maple wood (very similar to a Cobb). With the paper filter removed, the draw is perfectly smooth and open, making any tobacco I've tried in it burn perfectly with cool, dry smoke. The maple seems to be very absorbent; this coupled with the small space below the stem insert at the bottom of the bowl create and absolutely DRY smoke from start to finish - NO gurgling or tars up the stem. I had expected the bowl to be rather small, but I was surprised to find that though it is only about 1.2" deep, it is rather wide, allowing for plenty of tobacco and a long smoke (I had a burley blend last for 55 minutes while smoking slowly). In my opinion, with the upgraded stem, this pipe is much more handsome than a cobb, far more durable, lighter and very comfortable to clench hands-free - the perfect "walking the dog pipe." At less than $5.00, I plan to order several more of these and keep one with me at all times. Do not hesitate - BUY THIS PIPE.
DH of Garden Grove, CA
Awesome pipe! For $4 you cannot beat this guy. Lightweight, doesn't but too hot, easy to clench, not much up-keep, and looks like you fit right in driving around the mountains of Eastern Tennessee. It is wonderful to have lying around and I will be getting a few more for gifts, and also just to have around.
