I'm a pipe smoker. The only reason that I got into smoking cigars last year is because I tried a Padron 1964 Natural and finally understood why people enjoy cigars! Wow, what a phenomenally complex, rich, smooth cigar! Since then, I've smoked a ton of cigars, but because of the cost, I held off on getting another Padron 1964 until the other day when I ordered a natural and a maduro Exclusivo from P&C. I haven't smoked the maduro yet, but I smoked the natural after leaving it in my humidor at 68% for a week. Unfortunately, it was a major disappointment, displaying none of the characteristics I fondly recall from my first 1964. I'm not sure if it was just a dud or maybe I didn't leave it in the humi long enough after it sat in the post office for close to a week due to holidays, but this cigar lacked complexity and truly tasted like a lower-end $3 cigar. That said, it smoked evenly and lasted for about 1.5 hours and the taste wasn't horrible... just flat... On it own, I would give it two stars. But, since my first 1964 easily earned 5, I'll average the two, round up and give it a four because despite my experience, I still do believe the 1964's are special. I just wish my second wasn't such a disappointment.
