Not for me, but worth a try.
This is definitely for experienced pipe enthusiasts, as mentioned in the description. I'm not very experienced whatsoever, but if I were to let this age awhile and come back to it, maybe it'll surprise me with new nuances. The nicotine hit isn't quite full, but it's a solid medium-full. I'm not a fan of the flavor profile, but that doesn't make it a bad tobacco. Just not for me.

Probably the best Irish Plug
Probably the best Irish Plug available stateside. Nic hit is just past the mid point. Aroma ranges somewhere between Christmas pudding and something that I can’t quite wrap my head around. Wet cardboard? Clay? The smell is tolerable, and the top note, which resembles dried fruit, is subtle. The biggest drawbacks to perfect plug are that it takes time to peel off the layers of pressed tobacco and it requires quite a bit of relighting.

Hard As A Rock
I purchased 3P some time ago and had a failed attempt at cutting and rubbing out this tobacco brick! I put my storage jar on the shelf and forgot it. I came across the container today and had a "grate" idea which worked splendidly! I used a cheese grater and a scissors to cut up the larger pieces. I then rubbed this tobacco out to a nice even flake and smoked my first bowl and I'm pleasantly surprised with this mixture; no sweetness here. I'll order a couple more tins for future use.

Plugging a Great Plug
I admit I've tried few plugs, but this is what I started out on and keep going back to. If you've never tried plug, it's like flake, just not cut into the slabs: a sharp knife and a cutting board are handy. (And, yes, if you haven't sampled flake you might want to explore that as a step toward this as it will be something of what you're aiming for.) That said, and while plug is "advanced" in terms of pipe smoking skills, this plug is a good place to start: the results are rewarding. Once I've prepared my flakes this crumbles into a smooth, surprisingly cool and flavorful smoke. Flavor is high, dense and rich. Just take your time with the preparation. The added reward is it's a slow burning bowl, again, much like flake, and you'll enjoy a long, tasty smoke. My "go to" when I want a long sit and smoke, possibly with a good book.

I've only had half a bowl so far
Didn't really have the appropriate time to cut, rub and air out my first go. I'd like for someone to maybe give me some advice on how to prepare, store and what pipe is better to get the most umph out of it.

Really Good Stuff...
Got this about a year ago. Quite overwhelming straight out of the tin if you are not used to strong tobacco. Let this sit in a jar for about a year. It mellows out to something ineffably beautiful. I love it with a piece of dark chocolate and some decaf espresso after dinner. Less is more with this one. It's a treat, not a daily driver.

As this was my first
As this was my first time purchasing plug tobacco, my input might not be so valuable, yet it was as advertised. Wonderful flavor burned somewhat light due to moisture content, but then again, it's usually chewed .Flavor notes of chocolate plum and a slight hint of sandalwood. Deep rich taste, no harsh bitter bite. And yes, as I am a bit younger, I did take a foolish bite off the corner and proceeded to reenact all my favorite saloon scenes from Westerns. I can assure that it looks and smells like an awesome brownie tasting somewhat different.

Surprisingly Good (Noob Review)
This is a noob review. I've tried various tobaccos commonly enjoying most to some degree. I kept away from what I perceived to be a heavy hitter. I finally tried this plug. Tin note was nothing to write home about. Chopped it up, rubbed it out, and let it dry for an hour. The smoking experience was positively delicious. It burned extremely well and had no bite. I guess being a more full flavored tobacco doesn't mean heavy hitter. I smoked very slowly expecting to be hit in the face but that didn't happen. The flavor was full yet mellow. Awesome. I'm not good with descriptions like nutty, plum, ... carmel. I have issues detecting those. I just know I like this tobacco very much and burned through a full bowl. Not common for me. Don't shy away if you're a noob like me. Just go slow.

Tasty and good
One of the hardest plugs to cut but that means it's quality. Consistent flavor, I just wish it was a bit stronger

What a great tobacco
Woohoo 🙌🙌 The name says it all, it's the perfect plug tobacco. What a great flavor. I open the can and take in all of the aromas, from dark chocolate to the rich Latakia. Plus the sweetness of the sugars as it ages in my cellar jars.

My favorite plug tobacco. Great
My favorite plug tobacco. Great complex flavors. It takes some work to get it into the bowl. I use a cigar cutter for cutting off pieces and then rub them out.

It is the perfect plug
It is the perfect plug really dense like a hard brownie I cut it off and rub it out let it set for a few minutes and pack it nice full bodied smoke that calms my soul the aroma is pleasing as it is a non aromatic it is a little sweet on the front and a touch sour on the end it burns well and lights easy I keep at least plugs at all times I would recommend if you want to try a real plug tobacco

Dense and Flavorful
Rattling around the tin, you can tell you have a hard, dense plug here. Satisfying to start carving away at it. I found it to be a fruity kind of sweet. No need or desire to puff like a madman to find the flavor; it was very present. Even though I didn't feel a need for the taste-searching hard puffs, it was not bitey. I think I could have if I wanted to.

Lighter Than I Thought It Would Be
Great smoke, but I was expecting something with more body. I enjoyed this plug and I imagine most people would say the same. Great option to have on hand.

An excellent choice.
The flavor is well balanced and the aroma is not overpowering. 3Ps is a bit more nuanced and will probably be enjoyed more by those who have acquired a more robust pallet with pipe tobacco. I prepare it by rubbing out thin slices, then allow 15-20 minutes to dry (sometimes longer). If you’re used to aromatic tobaccos, this will be a stark contrast from your normal smoking experience. But if you’re interested in a quality Virginia, this is an excellent choice.

Great Stuff
If I could only have two tobaccos, one latakia blend and one VA blend, 3 P's would be the VA, and Ashton Artisan's would be the lat blend. I'd tuck a pound of PS Proper English in my sock for safe keeping, too ;) 3 P's could easily be an all day smoke, but the prep makes it a bit time consuming. This is a great morning smoke when time permits. I shave it; let it dry for 15 minutes, then pack it med/light. Everyone should try this at least once, IMHO

Best Tobacco Ever!
I'm an Aroma-freak tobacco lover! found out with this 3P. Love it!

3p for me
Bought this on recommendation of a friend. He told me that when I got this what I needed to do was to just take it out of the tin and smell it. Which I did. It was fantastic. It almost smelled like a brownie with some fruitier notes. One would almost want to eat it. But I really didn't know how to process it for smoking so I did what made sense. Cut off a couple of flakes and got them to where they were about ribbon sized, put them in a pipe and lit it up. I didn't know what I was doing, and it showed. SO searched out the best way to do. Said friend came over and showed me the proper way to cut and process it (rub it out) and put it in my pipe and this time when I lit it up it was really good. a great thick flavorful smoke. It has a natural tobacco sweetness instead of something that was more or less added, which is what I enjoy.

3p
I completely enjoy this tobacco. I feel that when preparing the tobacco it will need some dry time.

Excellent long smoke.
3P's quickly became a favorite of mine. It takes some prep, but once in the pipe it is a smooth and easy smoke that packs a little punch on the backend. It smokes nice and cool, and for a long time. An excellent tobacco for outdoor activities.

Nice smoke for the price.
This is my first plug Tobbaco l got three tin's to test. Chopped off some flakes and rubbed it out let dry for half an hour. Smokes very well pretty strong which I like very much. I let it age for a month on my second smoke, it was noticably smother.I will buy again going to dedicate a pipe to this tobacco. If you haven't tried this, it's worth the time and extra effort. This is going into my rotation.

Great!
I had to use a sharp kitChen knife to "shave" one side and I was left with a wonderfully flavored flake! I like to rub them out. I will order more.

I THINLY sliced the plug and fully rubbed it out before smoking. A nice strong smoke with good flavor. One for the cellar.

No aftertaste I seem to from other plugs. Thumb up!
Favorite plug so far. I smoked it in a brog pear pipe that I aggressively clean with alcohol, which seems to love the heavy hitters. No relights. No bitter after taste that I get from Old Dark Fired, Jackknife, Solani ABF. This could be a pipe review more than tobacco review. I am anxious to try it in my other plug pipes. Because this whole bowl had a great strong flavor with no bitter after taste I get from the others mentioned. I am buying a bunch more.

Excellent beyond words!
I've tried many flake and plug tobaccos, with Dunhill Flake being one of my favorites. But this stuff is some of the best tasting pipe tobacco I've ever tried. Mild, flavorful and slow burning. I prepare this stuff like peeling the skin off of an apple. Use a very sharp knife, cut it very thin, and gravity pack it loose with a very light tamp. Two lights and it's ready to go.

A fruity surprise with floral notes. Have to let it dry a little. Not easly cut even with a razor sharp knife. But worth the effort.

I'm always on the move so I like plug tobacco because it keeps it moisture and consistency with out to much attention.

Managed to smoke it
I enjoyed the plug format. I like the tin. The tobacco was unimpressive and the casing left my tongue numb and mouth bitter. I would not buy it again.

What in the world is that?
Take a can of this out and pull out the plug. Carefully get it ready for the pipe and watch the questions start. It smokes good too.

Refreshing and well balanced.
Currently I'm not into aromatics that much, but I always have a very good time smoking a bowl of 3P's. It is an easy going burley forward blend with a nice sweetness and fruitiness. The flavoring is not dominant but refreshing and very well balanced. The plug is very dense. I cut the whole plug into slices and put them back in the tin to be ready without the need of a knife. I smoke it almost every day.

Galway's go to smoke.
This is just plain cool to work with. Mixes with Virginia flake and Latakia in a very subtle way but adds horsepower to the blend.

Mild Aromatic
I am not overly a fan of aromatics. However, 3p's is a really nice tobacco that burns well and leaves a fine ash. I really like this tobacco.

Customer Testimonials
I didn't notice any fruit taste but a little sweet and a really good basic tobacco flavor. It was a little bit of a challenge for me to learn how to cut it but now that I have that mastered I am ordering more. I have discovered that I can slice it however I consider best for the type and size pipe that I will be smoking it in.
GD of Montross, VA
A very robust tobacco, simple tobacco taste not complex but I tasted hints of oak in it. I didn't taste the fruity flavors as the fresh out of the tin smell lets on. It does have a noticeable nicotine rush, but not overwhelming. I would say the overall experience was like smoking a good cigar. I cut the plug loosened it up and folded it in the bowl, next time I try I'll fully rub out.
AV of Fullerton, CA
I'm about halfway through my first plug of 3P and it is a most enjoyable smoke. I smoke it in a small Turkish Meerschaum because it is a nicotine rich smoke. This is a true tobacco flavor, not complex at all but very tasty. I like it in the evening after dinner with a good craft ale.
RS of Austin, TX
Reviews are very subjective, so with that in mind I took the plunge and tried Peterson's 3P's. Expecting a overwhelming intense rush of tobacco heaviness I was completely taken back by my test run. Firstly, yes the tobacco is on the robust side, and yes it has a very full bodied texture to the smoke. Secondly, the casing was not detected by me, even though the tin note reminded me of figs. Not a complex smoke at all, very straight forward, one dimensional, no nonsense tobacco. Finally, the nicotine content is on the higher side, nothing too overwhelming (I do not inhale), and manageable with a nice glass of adult beverage. Will smoke again, enjoyed the full bodied tobacco flavor.
WB of Norwood, PA
Great taste. Easy to work with and hardly ever goes out. Wife likes the smell so that's a big plus.
