|Bowl Material||Gourd, Porcelain|
Pioneer probably sold more gourd calabashes than any other company, Most people know them as being made with a calabash gourd with a meerschaum bowl. Meerschaum is a great material because it's absorbent and transfers heat well. Pioneer made some with ceramic bowls because it's similar in heat transfer, and is absorbent, but not quite as much as meerschaum. The big advantage to ceramic is that the crest of the bowl is glazed, so all you have to do is wipe it clean. The stem on this pipe is clear of marks, the top of the bowl is pristine, and based on the look of the chamber, it has been very lightly smoked.
