Rattray's Black Mallory

Black Mallory is another example of the Scottish blend - a combination of Virginias, Orientals, Latakia and black Cavendish. Since Rattray's was founded in Perth, Scotland, many people believe that since they made a number of variations of this kind of mixture, They're the reason these blends are called "Scottish". Black Mallory has more Latakia than Red Rapparee, and has a deeper, smokier flavor, but it's never overwhelming.

Black Mallory Vs Sterling Flake
A nice blend with a little more black Cavendish than say Highland Targe. A bit more expensive per Oz than it needs to be. Sterling Flake was everything I wanted it to be .

Campfire in a bowl
Fantastic blend if you enjoy the taste and smell of a good ol' fashioned campfire. Has a nice profile with the addition of black Cavendish. I loved this blend, and think I prefer it over other strong latakia blends such as Nightcap.

Strong and Unique, but Amazing
This is one of those polarizing tobaccos that people either love or hate. This is heavy on latakia and is quite a punch. But it burns more smoothly than it's aroma indicates and it's taste is among the most nuanced and complex. Every time I light this up it turns heads. The blend is quite uncommon but if you have a taste for it, its second to none.

Great Scottish blend!
Really great! The added Cavendish is a nice addition for depth. I do like my Scottish blends! Not too heavy but full flavoured, I might a pinch of lat if I need to but otherwise very well balanced.

Great Blend
This tobacco is in my weekly rotation. For me it has the right balance of sweet, sour and smoky. It has enough complexity to keep me entertained, but not overwhelmed. It's also a great candidate for DGT. My only complaint is that it's a bit wet out of the tin for my tastes.

Very tasty
This is my first can of Rattray's and it is now one of my staple tobaccos. To me it's in the neighborhood of Frog Morton Across the Pond. A non smoker friend said it smelt "absolutely delicious" like a campfire he wanted to eat...my friends are a little shot out. I catch my self almost wanting to chew the smoke if that makes any sense...maybe I'm a little shot out too. The cavendish gives it an allusion of sweetness the tobaccos are very well balanced,I love it with my morning coffee.
Customer Testimonials
What a pleasure! Such a well-balanced blend, with a great flavor profile. Sweetness of Virginia and Cavendish is present, without the bite. The room note is classic and pleasant, as well. Definitely a daily-smoke for me.
