Rocky Patel Edge Habano

Rocky Patel Edge cigars strike the perfect balance of value and power. When the first wave of strong cigars rolled in during the boom, most of them were a little more expensive than average. Then came the Rocky Patel Edge, which promised full-body without the high ticket. Available in a spicy and tangy Corojo, a rich and dense maduro and a somewhat sweet and flavorful Sumatra wrapper, there's a taste that will satisfy almost every smoker who wants a stick that's big and bold.

Better than most cigars at twice the price. Incredible.
Rocky Patel ‘The Edge' Habano Torpedo: At first look, you’ll see that it’s a beautifully made cigar. Probably the best rolled torpedo cigar I’ve seen since smoking a real Montecristo #2. First Third: Salty chocolate, leather, a hint of spicy rum, with a wonderful tinge of slight sweetness that holds it all together on an even keel. It’s full flavored and strong, but doesn’t kick you in the head, The incredible flavors hold your hand while you wander off into cigar dreamland——okay, that last line was dumb, so ignore it… just know that so far, this cigar is an old-fashioned superior smoke. The draw on this single that I bought is not that great, but I don’t mind it that much because it’s letting me savor a fantastic cigar in slower fashion. Second third: I arrived at the little spot that was inhibiting the draw. Needed a re-light. The sweetness is coming to the top defining that salty chocolate flavor… not too sweet mind you, and not even close to an infused flavor, just a natural sweetness of the fine filler packed by a true Cuban style strength. A bit more peppery as we get into this third. A good amount of nicotine is apparent. The room note is the best i’ve smelled int a long time. Just holding it without puffing is almost enough. Finish: All the wonderful qualities are present with the peppery note dissipating. So many cigars have their individual flavors wash out by this point or meld into a muddy mess. Not this one. The character of the initial third’s flavors still stand up... and the room note gets even better. I don’t know who Rocky is, but he deserves a hug. Worthy of the #7 spot on Cigar Aficionado’s Top 20 of 2015. And, at under 7 dollars for a single, you assuredly can’t go wrong. Cigars at twice the price have nothing on this, in fact my recent 5 star rave review of “My Father” Box pressed torpedo (that I bought along with this cigar) still stands, but this Patel (even at half the price), is absolutely superior to it.

Great Cigar
Full flavor cigar, I got some notes of coffee, chocolate and leather during the first third along with a subtle sweetness. During the second third, a prolific caramel flavor starts developing and compliments the cigar through the rest of the smoke. The nicotine content was a little high (at least much higher than I'm used to). Overall, the cigar was smooth and tasted great! I'll definitely be going back to this stick.
