Russ' Nation's Capital Sale

Not for me... Mouth and body are flat and muted at best. High hopes for a sweet, mild bowl dashed into muddy, moist mush.

Ordered 2 ounces of this, and smoked it all before passing judgement. Very unexciting aromatic blend. I am always amazed at the fact that the pipe smoker cannot smell the aroma of the tobacco he/she is smoking, so I tend to judge aromatics by their taste, not aroma. This one was uneventful for me, and practically neutral in taste. I am more into Lane’s TK6. Glad I tried it, though, as some of Russ’ blends are fantastic.

This tobacco was fairly damp so I let it sit for about 20 minutes before packing my pipe. It took the flame and produced a nice cool smoke. Very smooth with a mild vanilla flavor with a hint of cherry. Very nice!

After 40 years of smoking, I switched to Vaping 10 years ago. This selection was purchased for flavor extraction (cold maceration). The years I smoked an Italian Briarwood pipe, my go-to mixture was two Admiral's Choice tobaccos - Cherry Cavendish and Vanilla Cavendish, mixed 50/50, with a slice of a red apple added to the can overnight. It made for a mild, smooth Cavendish mixture that I enjoyed daily, and received multiple compliments for it's room note. Russ' Nation's Capitol immediately took me back to those days. The Cavendish is expectedly mild and smooth, not too sweet. The toppings are just right - not overpowering or weak, just a delightful concoction to enjoy. I personally would put it between mild and mild-medium, with an exceptional flavor. Anyone interested in a light, clean aromatic should give this one a try.

Wonderfully mild...an any rime smoke. Room note is amazing. People live the aroma. I'm a fan for life.

So good as to renew one's love of pipe smoking on all levels. The best tasting aromatic that I have ever smoked and I've tried well close to a hundred of them. If you smoke for the pleasure and relaxation of good taste and aroma then this is a must try. The cherry is very subtle, what mainly cones through is a caramel flavor along with the black cavendish. Outstanding!

The tobacco has very little tongue bite. I love it first thing in the morning and last smoke of the night. Good mild flavor. You can depend on it for a great smoke always.

Black cavendish really lends itself to sweet aromatics. And this is a well done cherry aromatic. I live in DC and feel it’s a good testament to the cherry blossoms. A good aromatic!

Has a mild flavor not too sweet flowery type taste

I have tried every premium “cherry” pipe tobacco sold on p/c and this is the best. A real natural cherry taste not candy cherry. Some and cool to smoke. Try it and you won’t be disappointed

..smoothe, no bite...light and tasty. Smooth consistancy throughout the bowl with a.wonderful fresh cherry-vanilla afterglow. My new go-ro for a wonderful aeromatic. Excellant Job

Since pipe tobacco is a personal taste thing, it is a fine product, I just like Cavendish in the Woods better. P.S. Dismayed by your website note on discontinuing Russ's Blends.

Perfect taste, aroma, and moisture content. leaves a perfect ash, no muck, no gurgle or sticky goo. fantastic flavor and aroma. My dog even likes the smell. Beautiful, dark color and dark flavor, not at all harsh, no bite, perfect. Best boutique tobacco i have sampled.

I ordered some of this last week,,Im GLAD I did.I do get the hints of van/carame,l,,I seem to taste very little cherry tho.This blend is very mild,,no bite at all,,smokes well and burns well also.I highly doubt if anyone will give you a complaint about the room note/aroma.Russ realllly did a great job on this one.Excellent smoke for the $$ per ounce. I know I will order more real soon.I let my 84 yr old neighbor try a lil of this blend,,,he was very very pleased and loves it too.So next time I order Ill order a few extra ozs so I can give him some more.

Im a sucker for cherry vanilla aromatics, i like them, the coworkers like em, and the woman likes em, win win. I have long tried many different blends in search of one i truly enjoyed fully. I opened the bag, good solid sweet smell. Tool live NY 2002 is in the background. The tobacco is black, very moist, looks nearly like perique. Packed me a fatty, pulled out the old tarnished zippo and sparked her up. At first it crackles for a few seconds before lighting, but the first puff is not harsh nor goopy. Very solid sweet flavor all around great room note, no tongue bite what so ever and not alot of residue. I have no complaints about this blend, very good. I will say that is goes out easy if your not puffing away but i havent found an aromatic that doesn't. Do buy this. I will again.

I did not get much taste from this blend and it seemed to have a lot of bite to it. Not a favorite for me.

I recently tried Russ' Nation's Capital for the first time with a group of friends. I had bought several black cavendish blends to give a try and share and Nation's Capital went over very well with all, both smokers and non-smokers alike. Most of the group love Sutliff Private Stock Molto Dolce and while the aroma and flavor profile are not the same, Nation's Capital is a truly sweet aromatic that fans of Molto Dolce should also find pleasing. With hints of vanilla and cherry, the flavor and aroma have more in common with Scotty's Bass Pond, yet more subtle in my opinion. Fans of sweet aromatics could enjoy Nation's Capital as an all day affair, or a nightly fling. As a Monthly Blend I have no idea how long this will be around, but it's one I'm glad I tried and hope to return to again. I didn't see any other reviews, so I hope this helps.
