Unique!
This blend is unlike anything else. Fusiliers Ration is close but different. Bengal Slices is not an everyday smoke for me but it is an awesome smoke for those times you want something different and unique.

A New Favorite!
Tried this tobacco for the first time, and what a wonderful surprise! Smooth, full bodied smoke with a complexity of smokey flavors and a hints of spice. Opening the tin for the first time was a great experience for the nose too! A great smoke to finish the day. This tobacco will now a part of my rotation going forward. So happy to have discovered it!

Celebrated For a Reason
As a fairly recent addition to the pipe smoking community, I don't believe for a second that I have the most discerning taste, these were actually my first crumble cakes. That being said, it was Bengal Slices by a country mile, uphill both ways. Even though it's my pick I'm having trouble describing it, all I can really say is that I felt a slight disappointment when the pipe was finished, the kind that made me consider moving up a size. Plum Pudding wasn't bad, but it has a sort of sweetness that got to be a bit much towards the end, it's got an apt name. Both are good, but I'll be canning the Plum Pudding for experiments down the road, while another tin of BS is on my list.

Yes, Bengal Slices
First let me say that I love this tobacco. For me, it is the epitome of an english/oriental, and I will be buying more ! However, it is not a smoke for a beginner, and for me, it is not an all day smoke. I rubbed this out and filled a large bowl pipe with it and smoked it for WELL over an hour. This tobacco burns very slowly, i enjoyed every minute of it. A little bit goes a long way, so you need some time for this baby.

Very good.
Keep an eye out for this. I wouldn’t mind seeing this on the shelf more often. This is very very good stuff.

It's OK, I didn't have the same experience like most have, I found it to be rather bland ...Would I purchase again, probably not.

Very very tasty. Love the smokiness. Seems to burn quicker than some . Breaks up beautifully into bowl. AAAA...

Revisited
I had tried this about six years or so ago and found it to be decidedly average. I put down my pipes for a few years, then smoked stuff I had cellared, and recently have been purchasing tobacco again. Either this tobacco has undergone some changes or my tastebuds had been burned out a few years back. This is a great, meaty, sweet and salty blend that talks back and gets more complex the further you get into the bowl. Perhaps my first taste of it was when it was in it's infancy (I remember the announcement that the Seattle pipe club blends would be available to the public, I was living in Oregon at the time). The tin I just got from P&C, like yesterday, with a bit of time in the air, tasted mature and well rounded.

Awesome
Plum Pudding is simply amazing. Easy to crumble pack and light. Tastes great. Sometimes overhyped tobaccos fall short Plum Pudding doesn’t

Plum Pudding, an exquisite smoking expiereance , almost to good to share
A friend of mine gave me about two bowls worth of Plum Pudding for me to sample, Once I lit up my pipe I realized why he had given me such a small amount, Plum pudding was so good, it was almost too good to share . The aroma was a bouquet of floral, incense, and herb as well as a rich smooth smokiness' with just a hint of spice. Just a beautiful smoke. I immediately purchased six ounces from Pipes and cigars.

Hard to find but worth it!
Beautiful crumble cake with a pleasant tin note. Top note is not an issue unless you are sensitive to them...very subtle. Also the cavendish plays a back of the bus addition but it is there, which is a good thing in this blend. Latakia is the star but the orientals are right there as well. Very tasty blend as you slowly work it. Gets better throughout the bowl. Really interested in letting some of this age. I am in the camp that all tobaccos benefit with age. Some more then others but they all will improve with the blending of flavors, the rounding off of high notes and the such. Something with this blend leans me to a nice surprise in a year or so.

Fantastic
I never had the pleasure of tasting the original Bengal Slices, though, after they were gone they were spoke of in hushed and reverent tones. The new Bengal slices rank very high on my list of what a latakia blend should taste like. Reminds me more of Germains Special Latakia Flake, a tobacco that hasn't been pronounced dead yet but hasn't been available, to me at least, in several years. The bengal slices are a bit sweeter, though the can I recently purchased never got to see a cellar and the last Germains tin I cracked had a good four years sealed and in the dark like some residents of the white house. I can't say exactly why you should like it, I love it. It burns slow and cool and the flavor is there from the start and just keeps getting better as it burns down. One of the few tobacco's I've bought in the last six months that has me trying to light a bowl of ashes.

Rather kiss the Frog :)
Ok , am I the only person that didn't fall in love with this tobacco...I was a little disappointed because I thought the way everyone was talking this would be the last tobacco I would ever want.....All I can say is I missed something..go with Frog Morton instead...Just my opinion

Not quite Bengal Slices but almost.
A very nice tobacco quite reminiscent of Bengal Slices or Fusilier’s Ration. Similar texture, similar flavor and aroma but missing a little something, either a particular ingredient or slight difference in the way the tobaccos were matured/seasoned. It smokes smoothly and evenly. It’s very good and worthwhile having in hand, particularly when Bengal Slices or Fusilier’s Ration are unavailable.

Worth the Buy
This will be a go to blend for me from hear on. Definitely lives up to the hype. Such great flavors.

Instant fan
I'm a big Latakia fan so this definitely didn't disappoint. Sweet and savory and rich all in one! I've only smoked one bowl of it and I'm hooked!

This is my absolute favorite tobacco. The perfect daily smoke.

Smooth and dark as a veil of silk
Sweet, heavy, smooth , a truely unregretable smoke. Reminds me of what was described in C.S. Lewis’s puddleglum’s favorite tobacco in “The Silver Chair”

Plum Pudding - Complex and Smooth
Somewhat new to pipe smoking but after two years I have found my favorite blend in "Plum Pudding." Like other Seattle Pipe Club blends I have tried, "Plum Pudding" has very complex flavors why being very smooth. I definitely pick "Plum Pudding" over "Potlatch" because it does not give me tongue bite where "Potlatch" does. The spicy and sweet flavors complement each other much like salt and caramel do. Finally the crumble cake flakes add to an already interesting tobacco when I am packing my pipe. Order the 2 oz this time and I promise you will be ordering the 8 oz on your next order after that so you don't run out!

Pack a big bowl and sip all day long...
This is a great blend to end the day with, or as I like to do, pack a bigger bowl and sip on it all day long. Great mouth feel, complex flavors, but a little off putting room note for those people who don't enjoy the smell of heavy pipe smoke. My tin came a little drier than usual, but smoked cool and even.

Very good Balkan
It took me a few bowls to come to a solid opinion on SPC's "Plum Pudding", but I think I can honestly says that it is a very good Balkan blend. Of the two SPC blends I've tried, I think "Potlatch" is even better! But "Plum Pudding" is certainly close behind. I know one thing for sure: I'm definitely going to try all the SPC offerings in future.

Excellent
Excellent, rich blend. It is up there with Dunhill Nightcap, although others around enjoy the smoke better.

Ive never tasted anything this bad, Im sure there are people that like it but I am NOT one of those people.

Rich & Satisfying
So far, this has become my favorite blend. It satisfies all my desires for deep & rich smoky flavors and Latakia eclecticism, while remaining smooth as silk. I cannot wait to try the Special Reserve.

Delightfully surprised
I will keep this short and sweet - amazing blend! I only wish it could come in 8oz tins. I will be ordering several tins for my cellar, placed right next to my Penzance, as well as a few for immediate gratification.

Give it a shot, it is delightful!
This is delicious!! I have never had the original but if it's anything like this stuff then I would've stocked up on it as well. After the first bowl I can't seem to get enough of it. I enjoy it at any time of the day and I'm coming back. Ill admit for not having high hopes, I was so happy to have been proven wrong. The topping isn't overwhelming but is delightfully present from start to finish. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed. Salut!

Great Evening Smoke!
I bought this because of the 'lore' behind Bengal Slices and the popularity it had in a previous life and I wasn't disappointed! It has a great flavor and a little bit of spice that makes for a great smoke!

This is a nice blend it's got a lot going on in it. The more I smoke it the more I like it.

NOT IMPRESSED!
Everyone has different tastes. Most people like this. I don't. It's monotone. It has a strong "smoky" flavor. No complexities, no richness, just smoke. It DOES have a decent lingering aftertaste with very little bite. That is a huge positive. But it's just smoke, smoke and more smoke. I don't like this Joe guys blends. Mississippi Mud was HORRIBLE and this is just a step up. If that means anything. I would like to avoid this guys blends if possible.

A pleasant smoke
One of my favourite Latakia blends. I find the crumble cakes a little cumbersome but I enjoy the favour and the room note.

This stuff is one of the reasons why I partake it pipe smoking.
I'll keep this short and simple. Damn this stuff is GOOD. I only wish my tongue could handle smoking all day, it goes numb after around 2 bowls a day. Otherwise you wouldn't be able to pull me away from this. Smoking this in one of my meerschaum pipes is a fantastic experience.

Plum Pudding for the win
The other reviews say it all. I agree A great smoke. Flavor is beautiful and the flavor lasts from the first light right down to the last puff.

Complex yet Familiar
Just when I think I've found my ideal English I go and try another that takes the formers place. That's exactly what happened with Plum Pudding. Yes it's a Balkan blend but with a slight twist that doesn't take away from the traditional flavors you expect in a Balkan. The other reviews here describe perfectly its flavor. So I'll just say that this an excellent choice!

A Definite Stand-Out Tobacco
Based on a recommendation by Sal in P&C's Customer Service (Thank you Sal!!), I tried Seattle Pipe Club's Plum Pudding. This crumble cake is wonderfully fragrant from the tin and prepares, packs, lights and stays lit easily when dried for a period prior to use. There is so much going on with this complex Balkan style tobacco (smoky, spicy, sweet and incense-like) yet, to me, it is perfectly balanced with no one ingredient overshadowing/overpowering another. Complex, interesting, flavorful and balanced, Plum Pudding provides a well-rounded and satisfying experience. Clearly a stand-out. Well done, SPC!

Can't put my finger on it.....
Well, I bought this blend looking for blends similar to Nightcap, but better. This isn't one. That said, it is a great blend. The smoke is thin, there's smokiness, a little spice, and some sweetness, but as other reviewers have stated there's something else in here that I can't put my finger on, but it throws me off. I'll smoke it occasionally, but Its not a blend I'm afraid to run out of. I recommend you try it, it is beautifully blended so that no one flavor overpowers the others. Maybe you'll like it more than I did.

A must try if your into English blends
I really enjoyed this plum pudding! My first impression after opening the tin and taking a whiff was " I can't wait to load this stuff and get started"! It crumbles very easy. I like to keep mine alittle more on the chunky side when I crumble it mostly because I'm smoking on my drive to and from work with the windows down. Helps keep the tobacco in my pipe and not fly out when it catches some wind. To me it's sweet and flavorful and mellows out and becomes creamy once you get under half a bowl. I'm sure this will be a regular for me. Give it a try!

Nice!
Definitely different! I am normally a smoker of very strong tobacco's. I have heard so much about this tobacco, and smoked so many of its off-spring I had to give it a shot. I was not disappointed. There are many subtle layers of flavor with this tobacco. I think I would have liked more latakia, however, I feel latakia is like bacon - it goes in everything, and there is never enough. I am adding more tins to the collection, so take that for what it's worth! Keep Smoking!

I feel its a work and smoke kinda mix. I got done with one bowl and was ready for another. There was no bite ever and it was very constant all the way through

What a treat!
So I bought a tin of Bengal Slices many months ago and thoroughly enjoyed it. Relatively young in my pipe smoking experience but Bengal Slices was enjoyed enough to become a member in the rotation. However, I enjoyed other favorites far more often, to the exclusion of Bengal Slices. In these past few weeks I've been back at it and these 7-8 months of jar age have done wonders for Bengal Slices. I can only hope that it is aging as well in the many tins I purchased. The tactile enjoyment of a crumble flake is a huge part of the appeal. That band aid smell in the jar i will never tire of. And finally an outstanding burn, aroma, and smoking experience. Enjoyable for most passer-bys as well. I even love the stench it leaves on your clothes. In all seriousness ladies and gentlemen this one is top shelf. The care that went into the experience in all its facets is evident. My suggestion, stock up.

plum pudding takes the cake
I didn't think anything could beat Dunhill Nightcap for my number one smoke. But plum pudding has done it. It's now my top smoke. It's just the smoke I've been looking for.

Loving it
I orderd the small size first. After I tried it I realized it was not enough. So I orderd the 8ounce.

Wonderful Stuff!!
This is a truly outstanding tobacco, particularly well suited for the end of the day when you're free from distractions and interruptions. My palette is not especially sophisticated, so I cannot wax eloquently on its various subtleties and complex nuances. I will say this however, the smoke is rich and creamy. Big puffy clouds of it. Latakia is certainly present, but the other players balance it out beautifully. A truly harmonious blend. I especially like the crumble cake aspect. Makes it very easy to prepare. Char, tamp and enjoy. Burns slow and even. No bite. Flavor is consistent to the final puff. Burns to a fine, white ash. This one has found a permanent home in my rotation which include several Dunhill and G.L. Pease blends. Preferred pipe is a Bulldog, but it's excellent in a Cobb as well.

not much like Bengal Slices
Doesn't taste like Bengal Slices at all, but it is a decent tobacco nonetheless. If you're willing to pay this price because it's worth a little more to get that ol' Bengal Slices flavor, I believe you will be disappointed. However, if you are open to other good flavor, you'll find some enjoyment in this smoke.

Love at first puff
Every now and then you will try something that blows your mind. This was one for me. Super well balanced any time of day, any time of the year, in any climate. Can you put some more stars in your ratings, because this one needs another star. I smoked 4 other latakia blends today that are equally recognized as highly regarded fine tobaccos. Nightcap, 965, H&H Admerality, Peter St. 52. This one beat them up. I will be ordering this on a regular basis.

Glad I bought it.

Not for me? Not for Texas in June? Not really sure.
I didn't love this one, to be honest. Maybe I live in the wrong climate, or maybe it was the wrong time of year... but early summer in Texas? No, wouldn't do that again. I'll definitely give it another try in a cooler climate, maybe even next month on the Oregon Coast. Will report back.

Too sweet
Just ok. Sorry Russ. The licorice/anise, topping turned me off completely. It made it one dimensional. Basically a lat bomb with licorice. 10 to midnight is better for this exact style. Lots of lat in that one also, just better balanced.

Winner
So this one is a winner. I've heard the tales of the original but this one stands on its own. Jar note is s little weird. But smokes like s nice mild English. Not better than the Pease Maltese Falcon I received in the same order. But a regular to be in the cellar and rotation.

Good Latakia blend, however I found myself picking up Dunhill Nightcap more often than this one.

A New Favorite!
I had heard great things on YouTube, so I decided to order a tin and it was well worth it; this tobacco is AWESOME. I love the signature latakia smokiness and also the underlying fruit note. My grandfather really enjoyed it as well. It packs very nicely, and I was even able to set my pipe aside for a few minutes and pick it back up to find it hadn't yet gone out. Highly recommended to those of you who like latakia. I think I sense an 8 oz tin in my future.

Ahhh! Close to what I've heard of nirvana. Yummmmmmm.
This blend is simply delicious! Some sort of exotic Asian fruit juice? You got me. The tin didn't last me all of three days! That's a record. Hope it comes in an 8 ounce soon.

Bengal Slices
The Bengal Sliced work well for me. They are more of a crumble cake which makes preparing a bowl easy. It lights easy and stays lit. The taste is bold yet smooth, buttery at times. I will be smoking this on a regular basis. Also will buy extra for the cellar.

Pirate Kake by Cornell&Diehl
This is the kind of tobacco that grows on you. At first I didn't know what to expect, but as I started packing my first couple bowls I found myself enjoying this wonderful premium. Fresh tobacco even more and more. The tin note is unbelievable, fresh, smokey but a cozy smoke, a very natural comfortable type of smokey aroma. The aroma from a fresh opened tin is just absolutely superb, it's a smell you'll never forget a smell that is as unique as the blend itself. Most of my tin was broken tiny bits of kake tobacco with some nice solid chunks and good sized bits and pieces. The taste of this tobacco is like none other, light on the heat yet full flavored, pillowy big clouds of natural smelling jolly goodness. Robust and rich flavored, slightly peppery and just a tad wee bit of sweetness that blends together perfectly with the earthy, woodsy. Smokey and rounded out balanced complexity of this excellent treasure of a pipe tobacco. Get some Cornell&Diehls pirate kake and immerse yourself in the smokey natural full on goodness of this brilliant blend, but be warned ad the can says, it is very addicting and gets better after every toasty bowl you pack. Happy puffing Mateys!

Not a Grand Slam
Ultimately, although the top note distinguishes Bengal Slices from most other English-type blends, ir dis not grab me as much as I expected it would.

An OK smoke, not bad, just not full, complex, or flavorful. Aging may help somewhat. I am not inclined to purchase this again.

Never had the original , but have heard a lot about it. Russ has done it again. Great tobacco with a top note that is not overpowering. I wish I could put my finger on the top note. I may be buying a few more tins to figure it out.

Welcome to my rotation
Classic Latakia/English Blend with that mystery topping.
2 out of 5
Good flavor, bad cut.
Tin note: licorice, anise, slightly smokey. This is obviously a crumble cake that has been cut into very thick slices, looks like a thick flake, but certainly isn't. It's very dry - I have found this to be a theme with STCoP - so if not VERY careful it will crumble into dust. I will add moisture buttons and hopefully fix this. First Half: well balanced between Latakia and Orientals, but still nice and smokey from the Latakia. Mildly sweet aftertaste from Virginias and Cavendish. The licorice/anise flavor is more subtle than the tin note would suggest. Had some trouble getting and keeping it lit at first because I had to leave it chunkier than I would a normal crumble cake to avoid turning it to dust, and because of that I had to gravity fill instead of using my normal packing methods. After my first couple of tamps though, it started to burn easier and better. Second Half: Latakia takes full center stage, gets a little smokier, a little spicier. Back to having a harder time keeping it lit. Still has a nice subtle licorice/anise flavor, and slightly sweet aftertaste. Very smooth retrohale. All in all I enjoyed the flavor profile of this tobacco, but I did not like how difficult the cut made it to prep and smoke. I don't think I'll purchase again because of it.

A throughly enjoyable smoke!
When I read about the Bengal Slices, I wasn’t sure if I wanted to try them. But after admiring the aroma and excellent taste of the smoke, I’m hooked! Gave some to friend and he loves it too! Keep it coming and I’ll keep buying!

Love it!
Outstanding blend. Smoky, sweet, and with a topping that remains through the bowl. Similar to fusilier's ration but a bit more outspoken, and doesn't nibble at your tongue. (Fusilier could get a bit unruly if pushed)

loved this
Smoked this in my Nording; full bodied earthy flavor and smell; spicy.

A Smooth Smoking Experience
I've never been a Latakia fan but found this to be quite enjoyable. Similar to Sillem's Black but better in my opinion with the Latakia just right for my taste. Nothing chemical/artificial/bite as with the black. Subtly sweet with fantastic room note. I can't comment as to this being an exact recreation of the original as I've never had the opportunity to smoke the original, however, this new incarnation certainly stands on its own in my book.
5 out of 5
Spicy Goodness
Upon first opening the tin, there is a note of ketchup mixed with vinegar, maybe. Not sure how to describe it, but that's all I can think of. Packing a bowl of this stuff is so easy. It crumbles down into the pipe and allows for a well packed smoke. The taste is just heavenly. Unlike many Virginia flakes or cakes, Bengal Slices has a nice bit of Latakia in it, yet not enough to put you off, even if you're not into Latakia. The retro-hale is like a flavor bomb! It honestly is one of the best tasting tobacco's out there. If you can get your hands on it, do it!

All my other pipes are jealous
Bengal Slices, what can I say that others have not? These are a sublime experience. An all day smoke. I’ve never had the original, or Fusileer’s Rations, so I cannot compare. It’s a nice Latakia blend that seems more forward on Orientals. The crumble cake presentation is choice, though it can crumble up a bit fine if you play with it for too long. If you are reading this review and on the fence, go ahead and order two tins today.

Familiar pleasant aroma
Sorry, I never got to try the original so I can't compare them. Opening the tin you get a nice smoky earthy scent. After the True light it stayed lit through the whole bowl, only had to take it now and then and take a couple quick puffs and it kept going. Didn't get any bite but I could taste the spices in my mouth.great taste and room note! I bought three tins, and will definitely get more to stock up..

Bengal Slices
I love this tobacco!!!! It has a gorgeous aroma, in the pouch and when smoked. Initially, I did not really appreciate the taste, but it grows on you slowly. Burns great and slowly. Just how I like it!!!!! Also learned that I can get a better taste and aroma simply by inhaling the smoke through my nostrils. It also has no bite and is very smooth. Almost a perfect tobacco for me!!! I will definitely buy more from you. Thanks for acquiring this tobacco and offering it to us.

I see why this was such a special blend for so many people..
This stuff is glorious. Dark, smokey, sweet and mysterious. It's definitely latakia-forward, but it's never over-powering. For those of us that love the incense-like character of Balkans, this is heaven. The top note is interesting. Initially, I thought it reminded me of Fernet Branca, but it has a very sublte-sweet, floral essence that beings everything together.

Bengal Slices did not disappoint. Good flavor with a good smoky presence.

Outstanding
I like Fusilier's Ration and was happy to hear this was released. I tried it and it's different enough from FR to warrant me buying both. Bengall Slices is an exceptional tobacco. Burns cool and long and to a fine ash. Creamy mouthfeel but definitely a fine English style blend. I will be buying more of this as well as Fusilier's Ration

Bengal Slices of heaven.
I am generally a English blend kinda guy, but when I need a change of pace and I am looking to really make my pallet happy this blend is what I enjoy. Everyone should give Bengal slices a try. You will not be let down.

Great old/new smoke!
Bengal Slices was one of many famous tobaccos that I had never gotten around to trying. Now I have and I can understand it's popularity. It's also the first tobacco I've tried in years that my wife likes the smell of. Count that a win/win!

Was not impressed
This was not the quality of tobacco I was expecting. Very dry ant compressed.

Bengal Slices
This blend is very enjoyable. The sweetness of the black cavendish keeps this one interesting and gives this a nice anise flavor. The Latakia remains at bay in this one and remains very subtle. Overall compares to HH fusilers ration but very different. This one is a must buy. Great new company created by pipe smokers for the pipe smoking community. Thank you Dan, Russ, Simon and the wonderful people at P&C.

New Favorite
I've never had the original, but this new version is an excellent smoke. If you are a Balkan fan, definitely give Bengal Slices a try.

Outstanding English/Balkan blend!
I loved this blend. Very complex, nice flavor and, for me, the perfect strength. I'll definitely buy it again.

Hmmm...
This to me smells just like sillem's black... luckily it smokes more latakia forward with more spice than sillem's black and the top note is just a touch down from that.. i get a honey / vanilla cavendish smell and taste with some latakia and oriental spice.. this is a good smoke but it's not for me.. it kind of leaves that lump in the back of your throat if your not a regular aromatic smoker, that's who should try this to cross over to english...

It's like having a party in your mouth and everyone is invited.
It's like having a party in your mouth and everyone is invited. Full flavor, but not too strong. Lat lovers delight. Believe the hype. I prefer this over the Esoterica Penzance.

Dark, smooth and delightful
Some call Plum Pudding a balkan. To me it’s closer to a Scottish blend. Either way, it is a mild-medium blend with a nice amount of Latakia that is balanced out with the cavendishes. In a way, it reminds me of a softer version of Hearth & Home Fusilier’s Ration. It’s not strong, but it is dark and smooth, and very enjoyable. My tin of PP needed a bit of drying time to make it easier to keep lit. The crumble cake was easy to break apart, and it burned well right down to the bottom.

Finally
The tin note was smokey and earthy from the Latakia. I was never lucky enough to smoke the original Bengal Slices, so I will not be able to attest as to weather or not it is a faithful reproduction. Bengal Slices like most of Russ Ouellette's blends was ready to smoke no drying necessary. On the charring light the smokiness of the Latakia was front and center. On the true light the spiciness of the Orientals joined the flavor profile. A quarter of the way into the bowl the tanginess of the Virginias came through. The sweetness of Cavendish was present through out the bowl. Bengal Slices burned cool and well once lit stayed lit to the bottom of the bowl. This is definitely Latakia forward blend, but the Latakia did overpower the flavor of other tobaccos. I can see this blend quickly becoming one of those hard to find blends. So when you find it stock up I know that I will.

If at first you dont succeed, try, try again
Plum pudding had an appealing description however my wife didn't like the smell. It was a bit harsh on the tongue but only just getting back into pipe smoking, i'm sure I will need to build up from "mild" before tackling a Medium/full tobacco. I did enjoy the Missouri Meerschaum Independence Day 2015

Lakakia....Mamma Mia!!!!!!
I had high hopes for this after reading reviews that rated it higher than Mississippi River. I like MR, but I thought the addition of the Cavendish in the Plum Pudding would be a neat addition. I was wrong. The tin note told me immediately that it was way heavier on the Latakia than MR. I like Latakia in small amounts. It was in nice semi-flakes. I smoked in in my green Mr. Brog Chocla pipe. It loaded and lit well. The first few puffs were a blast of Latakia followed by a big kick from the Orientals. It was almost harsh. It had none of the creamy smoothness of MR. Complex?...Yes, but in a very ham-handed way. It smoked all the way down and the flavor never changed. If you are a fan of big, bold, in-your-face Latakia and Oriental blends, you'll love this. As for me...I prefer the more subtle and refined MR. To each, their own.

not and English smoker
Tried a couple of different English blends, never really cared for them, more of an aromatic smoker, but after reading all the reviews on plum pudding, I bought a 2 oz tin. The smokie, spiciness reminded me of one my favorite cigars, I ordered a 8 oz tin.

New Found Love
Ordered both Missippi River and Plum Pudding to see and taste the hype. Plum Pudding does it for me bowl after bowl. Still on the humid side. I prefer to fill a bowl ant let it sit overnight or a few hours during the day and light up.

This is lit, right?...I mean, I can see the smoke.
I smoke english as a rule. Been smoking a pipe for about 15 years. I don't know what it is about this offering. It hints at something spectacular but never really delivers. There doesn'seem to be much body or finish and has an airy, wispy quality about it. I suspect I'm jaded by too much latakia. Don't get me wrong, I suspect a person who is used to aromatics may find this quite compelling. I however, just kind of felt....meh? Just to warn the die hard bold english blend fans, I think you may be a bit disappointed with this one. It is quite obviously quality tobacco, just doesn't seem to have much oomph.
