Seattle Pipe Club Mississippi River Rum Barrel Aged

Okay, what could possibly make Seattle Pipe Club's Mississippi River any better? How about taking the base tobaccos and storing them in a freshly-emptied rum barrel for a full month before pressing? This makes a lot of sense since Mississippi River is basically a VaPer on steroids so in this process it becomes a super-flavorful navy cake because of the rum and oak influence. Then, to make sure the rum essence doesn't fade before you get the chance to pop a can open, they inserted a piece of one of the barrel staves into each tin so you get the most benefit from this amazing blend. Seattle Pipe Club Mississippi River Rum Barrel Aged is sure to become a staple for a lot of the P&C Faithful

Great smoke. Smooth and pleasurable
Great smoke. Smooth and pleasurable taste and room note. Reminds me of one of my favorites, cross eyed cricket.

Worth the price
Smooth smoke, good aroma, and a long burn. I was hesitant because of the price, got in on sale and am glad I did. It will be one in my relaxing rotation.

I am not sure which I like more, this or the special reserve, but I like them both enough to have squirrelled a bunch away to make sure I have some on hand for later. Spicy, no bite, burns to fine gray ash. Beautiful.

Excellent Smoke!
Excellent smoke! Starts out with a rum bite and then becomes a pleasant smooth and sweet tasting smoke. Very pleased with this one and will definitely order again.

Mississippi River is one of
Mississippi River is one of my favorites. The Rum Barrel adds something a little extra that makes it extra special. The down side is the price. I also think putting a small piece of barrel in the tin is like putting a toy in a box of Cracker Jacks - something to throw away so you can get to the good stuff!

So worth it
Rich, tangy, spicy, and a little fruity. The Latakia is there but not overpowering, and as much as I love a Lat bomb, this stuff is fantastic. If you liked Mississippi river, and are on the fence about spending a few extra bucks on this, do it. You'll love it.

Had a bowl when I cracked the tin, that was very good. A few years on it should make it outstanding.

Soft and Chocolatey
Flavor ranges from softly chocolatey to spicy carob and darkly clove, based on where you are at in the bowl and how hot you are smoking it. My preferred pipe for this is a cob. Flakes hold a good deal of moisture. May want to dry portions before consuming. I think this is a great candidate for cellaring. Some complain that they view this as indistinguishable to the regular variety. I say give it time.

A satisfying smoke
This is a great full bodied tobacco. A complex mix of sweet and sour notes, combined with a satisfying strong tobacco forward flavor.

Good, But Quiet Nights Better...
I tried this after trying GL Pease Quiet Nights. This tastes good, but I still prefer Quiet Nights myself. Not bad by any means; just not stellar...

Not disappointed
Absolutely love this blend. I already love Mississippi River and with the added rum flavoring was just an added enjoyment. The rum flavor lasted longer for me than what I have seen on other reviews. It lasted half the bowl. As I am not an aromatic smoker I would agree with others I wouldn't classify this as an aromatic. The room note was straight Mississippi River no rum note detected. Its only in the flavor. If you like this blend give Plum Pudding Bourbon Barrel Aged a go you want be disappointed.

Nice Aroma | Too Mild For Me
Quality tobacco with a nice and even intriguing aroma that had me all excited to start smoking . . . But this is just too mild for me.

Heavenly Tasty
Where to begin I normally don't write reviews, but in this case I'll take the time to write one for this tasty treat. I'm no expert I'm new to the world of smoking pipe tobaccos. This tobacco by seattle pipe club deliver's meaning that it tastes amazing with silky-smooth smooth smoke. Easy to light just may have to rub out and let this tobacco dry out for a few minutes. Then pack your pipe bowl with pure pleasure and then there's also plum pudding which tastes just as amazing as this pipe tobacco does you won't be disappointed with either tobacco version both deliver bold exciting flavors profiles.

Good dreary day smoke
The flavors are dark and rich. It’s a good dreary day smoke. A little hard to keep lit, but otherwise very tasty.

I never knew a pipe tobacco could give such an experience. This stuff reminds me of when Lancaster chewing tobacco first came out.

Fantastic!
One of the best tasting blends I have ever had the pleasure of trying, thick creamy smoke the best mouthfeel I have gotten from any blend, not sure if plain mississippi river alone is to thank for that or if the rum aging benefits it, if I had to guess I would say it doesn't hurt. The rum flavor is always present, but it doesn't dominate the natural delicious tobacco flavor that goes in to the original blend. Its not really an aromatic, nor is it truly english. Its somewhere between the two and its amazing. Can burn just a tad hot if you don't pace yourself, but bite free as long as you behave. I assure you you'll have a hard time pacing the first few bowls because its just that good.
