Seattle Pipe Club - Plum Pudding

Seattle Pipe Club's Plum Pudding is a rare breed. This Balkan-style crumble cake will satisfy the hankerings of any Latakia fan. It all starts out with plenty of smoky Cyprian Latakia which is combined with rich, matured Virginia, zesty Orientals, sweet and spicy Louisiana Perique and a bit of mellow toasted black Cavendish. Plum Pudding delivers a lush mouth feel, smoky and fruity notes with an undercurrent of mellow spices. This SPC blend is incredibly complex, but smokes cool and has a nice, clean finish. If you're a Latakia lover and you haven't tried Plum Pudding yet, what are you waiting for? The rest of us know how enjoyable it is, so jump on the bandwagon.

From an old Frog Morton's lover - the best replacement I've found yet.
I am no pipe tobacco expert - my introduction to this world was in 2014 or so when a friend turned me on to Frog Morton's Cellar, which blew me away with its dank, sweet, lovely darkness. A few years later when I discovered this great website, I was disheartened to learn that FM had been closed down. The helpful support folks here recommended Bengal Slices as the best alternative. While I enjoyed Bengal Slices well enough, it was missing that special something. I then moved onto Dunhill Nightcap, which was and is an amazing smoke but without the rich sweetness of FM and with a pretty strong, unpleasant morning aftertaste. Neither of those tobaccos, however, compare to Plum Pudding when it comes to matching the memory I have of Frog Morton's. I have finally found something to fill that void and I can't imagine not having this one available either (please, Plum Pudding folks, don't make that come to pass). What I like best about this smoke is that it has the dark, sweet taste, once it gets going it's wonderful (takes awhile, though), and while it has a little bit of a sour, funky aftertaste, I can barely taste it the next morning, unlike Bengal Slices or Nightcap. It's truly the perfect blend for someone like me and I'm honestly a bit embarrassed I didn't discover it before now. I'm hooked and it will be my go-to for years to come.

Bought an Oz because it
Bought an Oz because it was so popular on tobacco reviews and I wanted to try an English blend. I liked it so much that I bought another 8 oz to started aging. A very full bodied and pleasant smoke.

Pricey, but worth it
Delightful smoke. Definitely has some uncommon tobaccos in the mix, so a different smoking experience. Significantly higher price than most other mixtures, so will not be my regular pipe full, but worth it for the occasional treat.

This si my absolute favorite
This si my absolute favorite blend to enjoy in the evenings. I like to pour myself a nice 5 finger scotch and sip on some plum pudding. It reminds me of an authentic Cohiba cigar, a nice earthy blend of tabbaco which no bite.

Got to try!
Very nice! This was my first departure away from aromatics (bored)! Read some reviews, watched YouTube and had to buy a tin! When I opened the tin and stuck my nose in ( at first I was shocked because I was getting cow manure and grass) But when I lit a bowl I fell in love with this amazing tobacco! Tastes smokey, earthy, spicy, grass, and a little sweetness! I would compare this to smoking a premium handrolled cigar! One of my favorite cigars is the Rocky Patel Sungrown Maduro, this tin smelled similar!

A Real Treat
This is a treat. I have one or two bowls per week. But when I'm craving this sort of kitchen sink complexity, nothing beats it (though C&D's Star of the East is kind of in the same zone). The crumble cake is easy to deal with but you have to be careful not to rub it out too much. And definitely don't eat it. You'll want to, but don't.

Good, balanced blend
Excellent pipe mixture. I sometimes use it alone in my pipe, but other times I mix it with Bengal Slices. Plum Pudding, despite the name, is a fine, balanced smoke, not too sweet, with little or no bite and a pleasing aroma.

Good stuff!
Plum pudding is a thick, rich, smoky blend that pleases your whole mouth. I am a newer pipe smoker and saw this blend reviewed everywhere. I knew I had to give it a try. Boy, am I glad I did. I know the newer barrel aged and special reserve are getting all the hype, but this original deserves a 5 star on its own. For me I had to sip to get all the nuances. I like a full bodied smoke and this blend provides. I can get a bowl hot trying to make smoke from a lighter blend so this one held me in check. I love it.

The Best SPC has to offer
This is the best SPC has to offer... if you are a latakia lover and like a touch of Turkish Orientals, Virginias, cavendish and perique added, and that elusive plum... Just grab the 8 ounce and be done with it.. you will not be disappointed.

A Really Good Blend From Seattle Pipe Club
One of my first tobacco brands aside from a bulk aromatic that I am still enjoying on occasion, this blend delivers a great blend for my new, still learning palette. This blend delivers the sweetness one might crave after a good meal and would pair ever so well with a glass of bourbon. The special reserve variant of this blend is well worth cellaring. I find this blend to have a rich, smooth character with smokey notes worthy of reminiscent moods and light introspection, but prepare to allow yourself to be distracted by each puff as the flavors roll around and mingle with a pleasant room note.

If not for the smooth charming tone of my peterson, I may not have taken to this blend. Fortuitous for the latter it had such a platform for representation. Just kidding, it’s pretty good.

Great Tobacco For The Enjoyment Of Life
I'm not a pipe tobacco aficionado, just a simple older guy who recently started smoking a pipe for one of those simple pleasures in life. This tobacco is pretty good from the first lighting of the tobacco to the bottom of the bowl; pretty consistent taste; no tongue bite for me. It definitely has a floral note with my taste buds, and I like it tremendously.

Give it a shot
You’re doing yourself a disservice by not experiencing the magic that is plum pudding. Even if you’re not into English blends and are stuck on sweet aromatics I dare you to give it a shot. Probably my favorite tobacco. I save it for those special moments when I just really want to cherish what’s in my pipe. Combine this with a Savinelli and experience a moment of pure bliss. A lot going on in this blend but it smokes true the whole way through never losing itself. Haven’t found a blend yet personally that’s been the same from start to finish. Love it.

Repulsed by tin note, now can't get enough.
I'm relatively new to pipe smoking, but I have studied up quite a bit and had the pleasure of trying a fair number of tobaccos at this point. When I cracked this tin (one of my first non-aromatics) my stomach almost turned at the sour musty smell. Couldn't put my finger on it. But, I don't know why, I couldn't stop thinking about it. The smell was becoming more intriguing. I finally packed a bowl, and as I began to smoke it, the smell was still unpleasant, but oh man am I glad I gave it a chance. This is one of the fullest most comforting smokes I've ever enjoyed, and it was perfect sitting around a campfire under the stars after dinner. I'm finding that I've quickly come to love English stlye (well, Bulkan) Latakia blends, almost to the point of craving it. I now also enjoy the tin note, which still shocks me. It is campfirey like people say after you become accustomed to it.

Loved It
This tobacco is incredible. I'm a newer pipe smoker (3 years), but, so far, this has to be one of my favorites. There are just so many different things going on, but it all comes together in a very tasty way. After I got the cake sufficiently crumbled apart, it burned nicely and required only a few relights. It's very cool on the draw too.

Your next favorite!
Truly amazing. I recommend the 8 oz can over the 2 ounce. It comes with bigger chunks where the small can has smaller broken down pieces. Seems to just maintain its smell and flavor when it stays in big pieces. Let it sit a month before opening. I use a Peterson Donegal Rocky 221 P-lip for this tobacco. If you use a fishtail its going to be too much of a smoke stream going to the tip of the tongue and not let you take in all the flavor. So go with the P-lip!

Good change up tobacco.
Plum Pudding has a bit of a bite compared to my favorite Crooner. My wife, however, like the nice aroma of it. I like it for a change of pace occasionally but not for a steady diet. It burns fairly well and the Perique does give it a nice balance.

I Har the opertunity to but real Cuban Cohiba cigars and enjoy them with my friends. This blend and strength reminded me so much of Cohiba cigars that it is my new favorite mixture. The amount receive was more then enough to enjoy in the sample pack and I plan on buying a much larger amount on my next purchase.

A blast from the past!
New pipe smoker here and avid book reader and fan of old libraries (will circle back to this). I was smoking aromatics to start with and my local tobacco store (well in Phoenix, everwhere is vape) only had a few selections one of which was Cult Blood Red Moon. The store owner had very little knowledge of pipe tobacco and his supply was limited. So I took CBRM home packed my $25 starter pipe kit from amazon and was floored on how good CBRM was. I quickly jumped onto google and found Pipes and Cigars.com from which I then found out CBRM is one of the highest rated, if not THEE highest rated aromatic, I was shocked! I was so fortunate to stumble upon CBRM to introduce me into the piping world. Fast forward a month and I decided to dabble into english blends, and did some research and concluded Plum Pudding would be my next tobacco. I was uncertain how I would receive this and was not sure I would like it or not. At first puff, I again was floored. I am a huge fan of old rustic libraries and books. When you open an old book, the aged quality of paper really grabs you, this tobacco reminded me of just this! CBRM got replaced as my daily go-to. When I sit on my porch and open my book to read, I have a good full pipe of Seattles Plum Pudding and transported to an old english library with decades old books aged to wonderment. I ordered the Barrel Aged version and it is coming today. 5/5 stars easy!

As good as it gets, unlike any other!
As good as it gets, as far as I’m concerned. One of my two favorites right now (the other being Peterson Nightcap). Mid bowl, all those amazing tin notes show up (for me anyhow), and it’s really something special. It’s really just an amazing all around smoking experience unlike any other I’ve had so far.

I've never tried an English
I've never tried an English type tobacco. Well I thought I'd try this one. Plumb pudding is quite popular in England, so I tried this one. The first time I tried it I kinda thought, what the hell do I have here. Ah yes, the flavor grows on you quite fast. I do enjoy a bowel of this from time to time. The only thing is it will leave a ghost flavor. The ghost isn't too bad, a couple bowels of my go to tobacco scares that ghost away. I just took one of my Peterson pipes and dedicated it to this tobacco. I believe I'll be keeping some plumb pudding on hand. It's only right to smoke a Great Britain style tobacco, with a pipe made there. This is just another good tobacco from Sutliff. Give Ole Plum Pudding a try, you just may like it. I've smoked a pipe better than 40 years. This old dude says give the Plum Pudding its fair shot. It's right smooth, I haven't felt any bite and it's right taste

I don’t know that English/Balkan
I don’t know that English/Balkan blends are going to be my favorites, though I am relatively new to piping. Maybe my palate will develop into liking more. This has a lot of raves though so I of course had to try. From what I can tell it is a great blend, however I could not give the 5 star based on my likes as they stand. I am looking forward to trying the barrel aged version as well down the road, as I am cellaring that one for a time.

Outstanding
Plum Pudding is probably by far my favorite pipe tobacco. I still enjoy this one over the special reserve which is fantastic in its own way. I stock up on this blend whenever.. it is always in my rotation. A quality oriental forward (balkan) style english blend. A bit of a kitchen sink, but done just right. You can't go wrong with Plum Pudding IMHO.

Plum Pudding , It is the one !
A continual pipe smoker for ages ! Stareted with the old favorites like Granger, Half & Half and Prince Albert . ALL good blends . But lately I began trying out some different ones , and there are many that are worth trying ! But after everything is said and done my nearing 80 palate has definately settled on the Seattle Pipe Club ---PLUM PUDDING ! t has all the delights anyone could expect in the well established tobacco blend ! It took me by surprise , but it is now my # 1 go to daily delight . Try it folks , and you WILL agree.

Wonderful, one of my all time favorites!
This smoke is a wonderful experience. Im not so good at pulling out exact flavors but dang this stuff is enjoyable. I tend to stay away from aeromatics and and some english blends are gross to me. This is a well balanced experience with rich smoke that is not too hot, at times I experienced a sweetness and at other times during a retrohale I had a quite pleasant vinegar/ ammonia sensation. I know it sounds crazy! It was a unique sensation but to me it wasnt repulsive but rather quite plesant. I will definitely add this to my cellar.

This aromatic smoker likes it a lot!
I’m mainly an aromatic smoker, but have been trying to branch out. I always read on online forums and hear on YouTube videos how much SPC Plum Pudding is liked. I bought a tin and have shave smoked a few bowls of it. I really like the flavor (it tastes like I’m eating a good Texas smoked brisket), and I has a pleasant aroma as well (I wouldn’t smoke it inside, as I’m sure my wife would object).

Very nice
Very good. Very mellow. In the larger, 2.5 inch depth bowl i packed, the latakia showed up first, then the oriental about half way down, with the rest of it sort of providing background jazz the whole way. I thought it was very tame until i got to the bottom of the bowl, where it pretty much backhand slapped me across the face. I can't say it takes my top spot, but good job here.

Just let it happen
I absolutely love this stuff and could smoke it all day long. I had heard so much about it and finally decided to give it a try. It's definitely a most excellent tobacco and I would totally stock my seller full of it except the price point is a little painful for that.

Now part of my new blend
When I first purchased this blend I liked it but it is pricy and have not reordered due the two ounce tin price. I did not find this blend to be an all day smoke but I did smoke on occasions. Having less than an ounce left in the tin I added Lane 1-Q at a ratio of one part Plum Pudding with one part Lane I-Q. Now I find this can be an all day smoke for me. Mixing these two blends I now have a more desirable combined price point for my new blend. It has a great room note with a new taint of vanilla. The Black Cavendish, Cavendish, Latakia, Oriental, Perique and Virginia along with the Lane 1-Q have a great balance with no dottle, no tongue bite and will burn nicely to a white ash with very few relights. It works for me and you might enjoy it also.

Match Made in Heaven!
I would give 4.5 stars if allowed. This blend is a match made in heaven. If you like Latakia do not hesitate to purchase this tobacco; you will not be disappointed. Rich in flavor but no one tobacco is overpowering, however you will definitely notice the Latakia. There is a slight salty after taste from time to time. If your looking for something different (in a good way) give it a try!

Summer blend
If you like Bengal Slices but need double the punch, go with plum pudding. Very complex, flavor grows on you but more of a summer spicy barbeque blend to me. Quality and flavor are there. Probably not a regular smoke for me but I can appreciate it for what it is.

Plum Pudding is Plumb Fascinating
I figured when I received my first tin of Plum Pudding well over a year ago, it would be a dried fruit tasting, gross over exaggeration of flavor. Then I got it. OH WOW. Instead it is a journey through the depths of bbq and other smoking flavors that culminates in a perfect smoke for the newbie or the veteran smoker. This is a tobacco that I enjoy to smoke when I am firing up my charcoal grill and getting ready to throw some ribeyes on there. The flavors that I smell and taste are a perfect complement. Between this and the special reserve, YUM.

As a new pipe smoker, I was having a difficult time finding a blend that really stood out for me. I was contemplating if I would even continue with a pipe at all.....until I tried plum pudding. Wow, the flavor is outstanding. To me it’s a mixture of Smokey and sweet/sour with a little bit of a light bitterness in some spots. The flavors balance very well and I couldn’t enjoy it more.

I love this complicated tobacco
A lot of moving parts in this one. Takes patience and about 1/2-2/3rds of a bowl to reach full development. I recommend the slowest tempo you can possibly do using the breathe method. As you maintain a cool smoke, and a constant amount of smoke in your mouth without fully expelling, and an occasional retro-hale, all the different tobaccos will take a turn and eventually combine into something great. Smoke it too fast and you’ll have a bowl of peppercorns to deal with; and wonder why anyone would this smoke spicy manure with any pleasure. Cheers!

Good Blend and Mix
Good, mellow smoke, especially if mixed with something like Cult Conspiracy, as I do. Burns a little hot near the bottom of the pipe. However, it makes a good, clean-burning smoke if crumbled and packed properly.

This was our favorite tobacco that we purchased. We got a tip from the mud chop piper that this was a really good tobacco and we are not disappointed. You do need to break it up a little bit but it is a great blend and the balance is perfect 👌

Sweetness is my game.
This plum pudding is a must have if your a aromatic smoker. This Cyprian Latakia is is one of those must have Tobaccos. Plum pudding was a big factor in changing the way I felt about Latakias, now I can’t get enough of it. This would a comfort smoke for any piper, new or experienced.

This stuff has ruined me
This stuff has ruined me from any type of latakia blend. I can't try any others without comparing it to this one. I Love the cut, the tin note reminds me of beef jerky and the smoke is smooth as fresh paint. I always try to branch out but I keep coming back

Great smoke for Aromatic and Non-aromatic smokers
This is definitely one of my top five blends and is in my rotation. This non-aromatic has so much flavor and things going on. All of the components are blended in such a way that non are overpowering. I like Latakia only when it is used to mellow out other tobaccos and in Plum Pudding it is a great asset. The nic-hit is less than medium and will not give your stomach the rumba. The room note is fine, but don't expect raves. Once the tobacco gets lit and stays lit, it has few relights. It doesn't burn hot or bite, but I smoke at a leisurely pace. It has a good aftertaste. This is such a nice smooth smoke that is a perfect lay back and relaxing experience. Plum Pudding may be my favorite smoke, but there are so many great tobacco blends to choose from. Whether you are a Aromatic or Non-aromatic smoker, you can't go wrong with this Balkan blend. Highly recommended.

I'm new to pipe smoking,
I'm new to pipe smoking, having smoked aromatics and wanting to try something different, I bought both of these blends as a deal bundle after hearing good reviews on both tins. Both PP and BS are similar in how they taste but their are slight differences. In PP, their is a dry fruit top note and after lighting a few bowls, the flavor takes on many different layers of fruit, and has a slight peppery note (probably the perique?) In BS there is a anise, clove-ish top note but it is not very prevalent after lighting a bowl, the flavor like PP, tends to be complex and instead of taking on the dry fruitier notes like PP, there are slight citrus notes that play a part in the blend and a slight clove taste. Both blends crumble easily and are very enjoyable. I find are best smoked after a long day at work or before going to bed. The nicotine strength in both blends isn't too strong like others may be. However, it is mild and is balanced. The only cons I can find is that BS is slightly harder to keep lit but it may be due to me just still learning on smoking a pipe. I also advise that these blends shouldn't be smoked on quickly. Take your time smoking these blends, or you will risk getting an unpleasant aftertaste from burning out the tobacco too quickly. If you like finding and picking apart rich and complex tobacco blends or want to delve into something different from the usual, I'd highly reccomend checking out these two tobaccos. You really can't go wrong with either one.

Complex Blend, See if it's Right for You
I'm working on my 3rd tin of Plum Pudding and I still go back and forth on it. It'll always be in my rotation, don't get me wrong, but do I LOVE it? Some days I think "my god this is a truly sophisticated and incredible blend--totally worth the price." Other days it won't stay lit, the flavors are unruly and unbalanced, and I simply can't seem to figure out what I enjoyed about this blend in the first place. It's an ever-lasting gobstopper of smoking experience and I do recommend it to everyone at least once. See if it's right for you.

Great
It is a very good product if you, like me, like strong tobacco blends rather than aromatic or mild ones: Great aroma and taste. It burns slowly. You can smoke to the last gram of tobacco in the pipe bowl.

This is NOT a negative review.
Honestly, the first time I tried this I thought it tasted like body odor. I almost threw it away. Then I tried a bowl of Early Morning Pipe and I really liked it. It had a mellower version of that flavor. I decided to give plum pudding another try. I LOVE Plum Pudding now. I dont know what happened. I can't stop thinking about how much I love this flavor. My description of it sounds very negative, but it isn't. It really reminds me of body odor, bicycle inner tube and leather gloves. It doesn't sound good from my description but it has become probably my favorite taste ever. I feel like a jerk because I really love this blend and I know I'm not conveying that well. Give PP a shot and if you don't like it give it one more try. It took 2 bowls for me to fall in love with this, but I am hooked. I absolutley love it.

Now at the top of my favorites list!
Wow. I read a few reviews singing the praises of this tobacco and the way it was described, I had to try it. The first few puffs after the initial char light made me think, this is good, perhaps not exceptional. After relighting and all the way to the bottom of the bowl, I thoroughly enjoyed it. This is truly a delicious, smooth, cool burning product. The smoke is rich and flavorful with absolutely no tongue bite. I'm hooked!

Perfectly balanced, hint of sweetness
As a pretty "no fuss" occasional pipe smoker (a couple times per month) I am just as happy smoking something like Captain Black as I am anything else. But, given all the hype surrounding this blend, I thought I'd give it a try. On a positive note, all the different tobaccos that are in this blend are all extremely well balanced. You can taste just about all of them, but none really steal the show. I was also pleasantly surprised by the sweetness coming likely rom the cavendish component, again perfectly balanced. Tastes great. There are fewer negatives than positives, but it was a little tough for me to keep it lit. It's a little pricier than your average tin. And finally, with all the hype I was honestly expecting a little better - is it a great blend? Yes. Is it the best like the hype would have you believe? Probably not. Overall - complex, perfectly blended, and pleasantly sweet. Pick a tin up if you get the chance, but don't feel like you're missing out if you don't!

Deep, rich, and a new favourite
Okay, so I've been smoking a pipe for about a year now, and I have previously gravitated to mostly VA and VaPer blends, though I found I love some English blends like Petersons Old Dublin and Ashton's Consummate Gentleman. I didn't quite know how I feel about Latakia until this morning, this is on a whole new level. It is deep and rich and this blend has to be the smoothest English style blend I've tasted yet. I'm definitely adding this to my rotation.

A single malt smoke...
When I first popped the tin, at first I was cautious - the smell reminded me of Drum Halfzware rolling tobacco, which always left a foul aftertaste in my mouth when I was still a cigarette smoker. Then I crumbled up a slice, rubbed it out a little, and packed it into a big cob... Ho. Lee. Crap. Plum Pudding is delicious. I like it more every time I smoke it. The sheer complexity of the flavor is phenomenal, and I can only compare it to an good single-malt Scotch. It’s like puffing on a slice of well-smoked brisket and a dark chocolate brownie in the best possible way. Might be my new favorite. If you haven’t tried it yet, do. Just. Do.

Not my favorite but very tasty
I bought this mississippi river and pp special reserve all at once, i rather enjoy this blend its very intense and has numerous complicated flavors that my palette is simply not developed enough to pick out just yet but it is tasty. It smokes pretty cool and dry although needed a bit of drying time for me. The special reserve I'm gonna leave unopened to age for a year or two although im sure that's going to be difficult.

Man, what a homerun with my first online purchase of pipe tobacco!!!
I am still quite the novice, however I find my taste is solidifying towards English and Baltic blends. What I find pleasing about this blend is that the taste is layered compared to other Baltic blends I have tried. If Plum Pudding were a beer, it would be a complex IPA. The tobacco is a little spicy up front and mellows as you smoke through it. It leaves an awesome aftertaste in my mouth when I have finish the bowl (I have never experienced this from smoking any tobacco before). My only complaint is that Plum Pudding tends to be a difficult initial light up if I don't pack the bowl perfectly. It is the standard for me by which I compare other English and Baltic blends.

Perfection
This will become one of my regulars. Flavor is very complex and changes as you go down the bowl. I had no problem keeping it lit and leaves very little dottle. Straight out of the tin, it wasn’t too wet or dry. It’s a very relaxing smoke with a decent nicotine hit; wouldn’t recommend as a morning or early afternoon lunch. Perfect for after work or before bed.
5 out of 5
Complex
I get a different taste marriage with every new bowl. The Latakia is not strong like the description would have you believe. Cool burning. No tongue bite. Thick smoke. It's kind of addictive. Slightly sweet, a little spice. The more you smoke, the more you'll like the complexity.
5 out of 5
A Sublime Smoke!
It's either this or Bengal Slices as my top Latakia blend. I'm trying to cellar as much of both as my budget will allow as I find this and Bengal Slices as the only two tobaccos I wish to regularly smoke. Let it be known that I am not an all day pipe smoker, only having a bowl or two each evening after dinner. However, these two blends are what I crave each evening, they are just that good!
5 out of 5
MUST HAVE MORE!!!
I used to stay clear of English blends because of some earlier, absolutely horrible experiences with Lakeland aromatics. But then I tried this as part of “Saved by the bell”. I’m in awe of this masterpiece. It’s almost literally on my mind every day. I’ve caught myself up at 3am, smelling it in the can. I can’t say enough good things about this stuff in 2000 characters. I only have two complaints. It’s kind of expensive and the can doesn’t seal very tightly so you have to stay on top of your humidification. But I’m just nitpicking.
4 out of 5
Very Nice
Great Latakia-forward blend. The Cyprian is sweet and plays well with the orientals to give a nice cedar/incense note. The Perique gives a tiny bit of pepper and prune/raisin taste in the background, and the Cavendish quietly blends everything together and smooths it all out. It’s a medium-bodied blend in terms of taste, and could be an all-day smoke for some. The nicotine level is fairly mild.
4 out of 5
Hesitant at first
Tried it on a recommendation from a YouTuber. It was a bit harsh right out the tin, so I let it dry out for awhile, what a difference, much more mellower and flavorful. Nice room notes, could taste the different types of tobacco. It didn't disappoint, going to cellar the rest for a couple of years see if it will improve in quality and taste. Goes good with the morning coffee or a satisfying dinner. Would highly recommend it.

My New Favorite English
I’d heard numerous pipe smokers singing the praises of Plum Pudding and decided to try it recently. It’s already edged out Dunhill Nightcap as my favorite English, and not just because Dunhill is no more. It’s a nice, bold, sweet smoke with a bit of a floral note of some sort. Tastes and smells divine!!!
5 out of 5
Wonderfully complex
I will caution you...I know nothing about pipe tobacco except for some of the basics so if you are looking for a review to help you make up your mind then this is not the review for you. That being said I found Plum Pudding to be a deep rich and satisfying smoke. I thought that my Scottish Breakfast tea went really well with it. Definitely can detect the Latakia presence.

Time machine tobacco?
This tobacco has the most intriguing smell that has kept my wife and I doing our best to pinpoint, but the only thing we can agree on is that it smells 'old', as in from many years ago, not a criticism of the tobacco's age! The taste is unusual, complex, rich and pleasant. It also seems quite strong, my first small bowl gave me a nicotine rush. I'm awaiting a new AristoCob to really test this blend properly but that damn smell, what does it remind me of? The closest I've got so far, is a British Railways carriage compartment during rush hour. Its a smell that reminds me of smoking rooms in a private mens club, other memories of a similar bygone age are evoked. Best I can do chaps.

Good dessert like flavor modest nicotine content
I am a Mac barren bold Kentucky and old dark fired fan so this one is a little settle in the nicotine department. With that said the taste is quite good and sweet almost like pudding lol. It's easy to crumble up and load and it smokes at a pretty good humidity level straight out of the van although it could dry out a bit too be better. This isn't on the same page for me as bold Kentucky but it's not bad either. I don't see myself buying another can but that doesn't mean you won't love it I can E why a lot of people do like it. I'm just a bigger fan of the fire cure Kentucky blends myself with loads of nicotine and strong Maduro style flavoring

A Trip to Flavor Town!
This is my first crumble cake, and what a delight it is! It is complex, clean, smokes cool, burns to fine gray ash, and has a pleasant room note. It is suitable for most of my pipes...not just the ones I reserve for latakia blends. I have to remember to pack lighter than normal, but the smoke is long, flavorful and pleasant. It goes into my rotation, for sure.

My new favorite. A rich smooth smoke. All day enjoyment!! I love it.
4 out of 5
Excellent! The only reason I
Excellent! The only reason I submit a four and not a five is that I do not see Plum Pudding as an all day smoke. That said, all other considerations work together to put this blend on the top shelf for sure. Tin note; rub; lightability; burn; room note; finish .... a genuine treat. "Plum Pudding " strikes me as a misnomer. True, it is smooth, as is pudding; it has a certain sweetness, as does pudding.....but, "Plum"? How about " King's Choice " or something like that? Names aside, this blend is just the right amount of latakia and perique. The sweetness of the Virginias is not obscured but is augmented nicely by the exotic character of the latakia and just the appropriate measure of perique. Through the nose, Plum Pudding produces a pleasing pinch ; for the tongue, there is plenty of zest. Personally, I find ginger tea to be a nice accompaniment. Pudding is full enough and lively enough to warrant no more than a medium sized pipe ..... perhaps a large one in the open air. Plum Pudding is a must!

The Proof is in the Pudding
I have to say right up front that I prefer aromatic pipe tobaccos. However, Seattle Pipe Club Plum Pudding is a pleasant and enjoyable non-aromatic smoke. The little bit of Latakia in the pudding, gives the tobacco a little zip, and I have to admit I kind of like the taste of Latakia.

I predominantly smoke cigars, but really enjoy my pipes in cooler weather. This blend gives the closest to cigar strength I've had. With amazing flavor to match. The dark fruit note I get is my favorite in cigars too. Easily my favorite latakia blend out there.

Phenomenal!!!
Man this stuff is good! I'm not a huge fan of Cavendish but the Cavendish in this has a way of complimenting the taste. I was hesitant of buying this because i never seem to like tobacco that's usually very hyped up. I guess my taste is just different than most. But man this stuff is GOOD! like I'm honestly blown away. Even the after taste is good.

When some of my favorite brands "went away" in the past (Bengal Slices, the original John Cottons, etc) I migrated more toward cigars because I couldn't find anything that hit all the right buttons in the tobacco that was available. I heard that Bengal Slices and some of my other old favorites had been re-created, and I excitedly tried them all... they were pretty good, but not quite what I remembered. After reading some reviews about Bengal Slices, someone mentioned Plum Pudding, so I decided to give it a shot... there it was; that elusive "something" I had been missing from the Good Old Days....and probably better! I immediately ordered an 8Oz can and a 4oz can of the Plum Pudding Reserve! If you are a lover of the old English blends (especially Balkan Sobraine's offerings), don't hesitate to try Plum Pudding. I'm a happy camper :)

Not your normal Balkan
Take chocolate, pepper, a fire place, and a sweet tea. Roll that up in a creamy coffee and to me that pretty much sums up this delicious blend. I love everything in this blend but was very sketchy on the cavendish. I have had some serious tounge bite in the past but not here. This is not a Lat bomb at least to me and I have never had a complaint on the room note. This is my come home after work and relax blend, well this is actually my at home all night blend. I packed it probably every method possible and have used slow, normal, and have to finish a bowl right now cadences and every bowl is a pure treat to smoke. Some don't like it but try it and see what the rest of us love in this. It is definitely something that has what your looking for in every genre of tobacco offerings. If you can enjoy this in a cob just for this blend after a few bowls you can't stop smoking this till your tounge turns to leather and your lips are stained with the lady "nicotine". Thanks SPC and Joe for a wonderful blend.

Great tobbaco
One of the better tobbaco that I have tried it does suck that everyone is sold out but Bengal slices are a close match but in my opinion not as good as the plumb pudding

Believe the hype because Plum Pudding is for real!
Outstanding English blend. This is the only review I have ever written, but I just had to compliment this blend. Many blends get built up by hype and the momentum carries them to the best seller list, but Plum Pudding is FOR REAL. If you like English blends, please give this one a try. It was a little damp when first opened, but a little drying time is ALL it needs. Happy piping my friends!

Sourness I just can't place...
Unlike most pipe fans here, I'm not a fan of this one. I'm somewhat new to pipes (again) after smoking them for a bit then went on a cigar kick for years (still enjoy a stogie from time to time, but pipes are taking back over). I've tried several bowls of this out of several different pipes and just don't like the "sour" flavor I get from this tobacco. It's almost reminiscent of smoking meat with green red oak wood. Very unpleasant and I don't think it was the pipes or my technique as most of the other tobaccos I've tried (from OTC brands, bulk from local tobacco shops, to various other branded tins) and found most ranged from acceptable to great. So far Plum Pudding and Sir Walter Raleigh (regular) are the only NO GO tobaccos I've found. Hopefully your results will be better, but this one is off my list for the foreseeable future.

Plum Pudding Is At The Top Of My List
This is a very good latakia based tobacco. It's smooth but somewhat bold. Absolutely one of my go-to tobaccos, especially since Frog Morton is not longer available. I give Seattle Pipe Club and Plum Pudding a A+++

A New Favorite!
Tried this tobacco for the first time, and what a wonderful surprise! Smooth, full bodied smoke with a complexity of smokey flavors and a hints of spice. Opening the tin for the first time was a great experience for the nose too! A great smoke to finish the day. This tobacco will now a part of my rotation going forward. So happy to have discovered it!

Revisited
I had tried this about six years or so ago and found it to be decidedly average. I put down my pipes for a few years, then smoked stuff I had cellared, and recently have been purchasing tobacco again. Either this tobacco has undergone some changes or my tastebuds had been burned out a few years back. This is a great, meaty, sweet and salty blend that talks back and gets more complex the further you get into the bowl. Perhaps my first taste of it was when it was in it's infancy (I remember the announcement that the Seattle pipe club blends would be available to the public, I was living in Oregon at the time). The tin I just got from P&C, like yesterday, with a bit of time in the air, tasted mature and well rounded.

Plum Pudding, an exquisite smoking expiereance , almost to good to share
A friend of mine gave me about two bowls worth of Plum Pudding for me to sample, Once I lit up my pipe I realized why he had given me such a small amount, Plum pudding was so good, it was almost too good to share . The aroma was a bouquet of floral, incense, and herb as well as a rich smooth smokiness' with just a hint of spice. Just a beautiful smoke. I immediately purchased six ounces from Pipes and cigars.

Not quite Bengal Slices but almost.
A very nice tobacco quite reminiscent of Bengal Slices or Fusilier’s Ration. Similar texture, similar flavor and aroma but missing a little something, either a particular ingredient or slight difference in the way the tobaccos were matured/seasoned. It smokes smoothly and evenly. It’s very good and worthwhile having in hand, particularly when Bengal Slices or Fusilier’s Ration are unavailable.

Don't pass this up
My first impression of this was that it was rather mundane, nothing special. Usually have 5 or 6 tobaccos around and reach for whatever I find attractive at the moment. Plum Pudding ruined my system. I found myself reaching for this again and again. This is a truly balanced English blend hitting all the right notes at exactly the right volume. Nothing detracts from the other elements. This blend is truly magnificent.

Plum Pudding - Complex and Smooth
Somewhat new to pipe smoking but after two years I have found my favorite blend in "Plum Pudding." Like other Seattle Pipe Club blends I have tried, "Plum Pudding" has very complex flavors why being very smooth. I definitely pick "Plum Pudding" over "Potlatch" because it does not give me tongue bite where "Potlatch" does. The spicy and sweet flavors complement each other much like salt and caramel do. Finally the crumble cake flakes add to an already interesting tobacco when I am packing my pipe. Order the 2 oz this time and I promise you will be ordering the 8 oz on your next order after that so you don't run out!

Pack a big bowl and sip all day long...
This is a great blend to end the day with, or as I like to do, pack a bigger bowl and sip on it all day long. Great mouth feel, complex flavors, but a little off putting room note for those people who don't enjoy the smell of heavy pipe smoke. My tin came a little drier than usual, but smoked cool and even.

Very good Balkan
It took me a few bowls to come to a solid opinion on SPC's "Plum Pudding", but I think I can honestly says that it is a very good Balkan blend. Of the two SPC blends I've tried, I think "Potlatch" is even better! But "Plum Pudding" is certainly close behind. I know one thing for sure: I'm definitely going to try all the SPC offerings in future.

NOT IMPRESSED!
Everyone has different tastes. Most people like this. I don't. It's monotone. It has a strong "smoky" flavor. No complexities, no richness, just smoke. It DOES have a decent lingering aftertaste with very little bite. That is a huge positive. But it's just smoke, smoke and more smoke. I don't like this Joe guys blends. Mississippi Mud was HORRIBLE and this is just a step up. If that means anything. I would like to avoid this guys blends if possible.

This stuff is one of the reasons why I partake it pipe smoking.
I'll keep this short and simple. Damn this stuff is GOOD. I only wish my tongue could handle smoking all day, it goes numb after around 2 bowls a day. Otherwise you wouldn't be able to pull me away from this. Smoking this in one of my meerschaum pipes is a fantastic experience.

English title goes to....
It's been over a year now that I have been enjoying English blends. Just when I feel I've found my favorite, another comes along to take its place. Well Plum Pudding has just won that title. I usually smoke simpler blends, even a straight Burley which is my go to, all day smoke. I have without a doubt an eclectic collection of blends. Sometimes an aromatic other times an English. THIS blend is like having them all at once. And yet the genius of it as it states is its well balanced mix. It REALLY doesn't become overwhelming nor does one leaf invade the other. They take turns giving you the ultimate taste test. The rest of the reviews here say it all. It IS a fantastic smoke and is going to be a hard act to follow.

Complex yet Familiar
Just when I think I've found my ideal English I go and try another that takes the formers place. That's exactly what happened with Plum Pudding. Yes it's a Balkan blend but with a slight twist that doesn't take away from the traditional flavors you expect in a Balkan. The other reviews here describe perfectly its flavor. So I'll just say that this an excellent choice!

A Definite Stand-Out Tobacco
Based on a recommendation by Sal in P&C's Customer Service (Thank you Sal!!), I tried Seattle Pipe Club's Plum Pudding. This crumble cake is wonderfully fragrant from the tin and prepares, packs, lights and stays lit easily when dried for a period prior to use. There is so much going on with this complex Balkan style tobacco (smoky, spicy, sweet and incense-like) yet, to me, it is perfectly balanced with no one ingredient overshadowing/overpowering another. Complex, interesting, flavorful and balanced, Plum Pudding provides a well-rounded and satisfying experience. Clearly a stand-out. Well done, SPC!

Can't put my finger on it.....
Well, I bought this blend looking for blends similar to Nightcap, but better. This isn't one. That said, it is a great blend. The smoke is thin, there's smokiness, a little spice, and some sweetness, but as other reviewers have stated there's something else in here that I can't put my finger on, but it throws me off. I'll smoke it occasionally, but Its not a blend I'm afraid to run out of. I recommend you try it, it is beautifully blended so that no one flavor overpowers the others. Maybe you'll like it more than I did.

A must try if your into English blends
I really enjoyed this plum pudding! My first impression after opening the tin and taking a whiff was " I can't wait to load this stuff and get started"! It crumbles very easy. I like to keep mine alittle more on the chunky side when I crumble it mostly because I'm smoking on my drive to and from work with the windows down. Helps keep the tobacco in my pipe and not fly out when it catches some wind. To me it's sweet and flavorful and mellows out and becomes creamy once you get under half a bowl. I'm sure this will be a regular for me. Give it a try!

Wonderful Stuff!!
This is a truly outstanding tobacco, particularly well suited for the end of the day when you're free from distractions and interruptions. My palette is not especially sophisticated, so I cannot wax eloquently on its various subtleties and complex nuances. I will say this however, the smoke is rich and creamy. Big puffy clouds of it. Latakia is certainly present, but the other players balance it out beautifully. A truly harmonious blend. I especially like the crumble cake aspect. Makes it very easy to prepare. Char, tamp and enjoy. Burns slow and even. No bite. Flavor is consistent to the final puff. Burns to a fine, white ash. This one has found a permanent home in my rotation which include several Dunhill and G.L. Pease blends. Preferred pipe is a Bulldog, but it's excellent in a Cobb as well.

Love at first puff
Every now and then you will try something that blows your mind. This was one for me. Super well balanced any time of day, any time of the year, in any climate. Can you put some more stars in your ratings, because this one needs another star. I smoked 4 other latakia blends today that are equally recognized as highly regarded fine tobaccos. Nightcap, 965, H&H Admerality, Peter St. 52. This one beat them up. I will be ordering this on a regular basis.

Do Not Buy Any of This - Please
Do not buy this stuff. It tastes terrible, burns hot and does all kinds of bad things to your pipes. The worst thing that happens is if you buy it there will not be enough left for me and it will become like Penzance and unavailable. I am stocking up on this stuff and I do not want to see any "out of stock" or "unavailable" notations, so please find something else to smoke

I didn't love this one, to be honest. Maybe I live in the wrong climate, or maybe it was the wrong time of year... but early summer in Texas? No, wouldn't do that again. I'll definitely give it another try in a cooler climate, maybe even next month on the Oregon Coast. Will report back.

A New Favorite!
I had heard great things on YouTube, so I decided to order a tin and it was well worth it; this tobacco is AWESOME. I love the signature latakia smokiness and also the underlying fruit note. My grandfather really enjoyed it as well. It packs very nicely, and I was even able to set my pipe aside for a few minutes and pick it back up to find it hadn't yet gone out. Highly recommended to those of you who like latakia. I think I sense an 8 oz tin in my future.

Pirate Kake by Cornell&Diehl
This is the kind of tobacco that grows on you. At first I didn't know what to expect, but as I started packing my first couple bowls I found myself enjoying this wonderful premium. Fresh tobacco even more and more. The tin note is unbelievable, fresh, smokey but a cozy smoke, a very natural comfortable type of smokey aroma. The aroma from a fresh opened tin is just absolutely superb, it's a smell you'll never forget a smell that is as unique as the blend itself. Most of my tin was broken tiny bits of kake tobacco with some nice solid chunks and good sized bits and pieces. The taste of this tobacco is like none other, light on the heat yet full flavored, pillowy big clouds of natural smelling jolly goodness. Robust and rich flavored, slightly peppery and just a tad wee bit of sweetness that blends together perfectly with the earthy, woodsy. Smokey and rounded out balanced complexity of this excellent treasure of a pipe tobacco. Get some Cornell&Diehls pirate kake and immerse yourself in the smokey natural full on goodness of this brilliant blend, but be warned ad the can says, it is very addicting and gets better after every toasty bowl you pack. Happy puffing Mateys!

WONDERFUL and SUPERB
Maybe the best latakia blend ever made...it's like eating a full seven course meal compared to a light snack (not that a light snack isn't great sometimes). This leaves you full and satisfied. It's ridiculously delicious, everything a latakia fanatic would want. It's so hard to describe, it's just plain wonderful. If you are one of the rare breed that just likes latakia or thinks it's just ok, try this, you'll be a latakia fanatic in no time.

Dark and Smooth
If you find that Mississippi River is a bit to mild despite its delightful taste, try Plum Pudding. Deeper, darker, and fuller than its sibling, it is a very satisfying smoke. Good ‘English’ blend rounded out by cavendish to make a solid medium smoke with no bite. I found the crumble cake easy to break up, and easy to keep lit.

Outstanding English/Balkan blend!
I loved this blend. Very complex, nice flavor and, for me, the perfect strength. I'll definitely buy it again.

I think I like it
Well, I've bought two small tins and now an 8-oz tin, so I suppose I've found something I like. It's strong enough that I know I'm smoking something, but not excessively so. I can't say it is sweet: to say a tobacco is sweet makes me think of Beech Nut chewing tobacco from my younger days, and it certainly isn't that. But it's certainly not acrid. It tastes like tobacco: no fake (awful) cherry flavor. Now I might not mind a hint of chocolate. But that's off-topic. To summarize, I will reiterate: I have bought several tins of this stuff, and for me that indicates a trend, and a trend indicates that I just might like the stuff.

Dark, smooth and delightful
Some call Plum Pudding a balkan. To me it’s closer to a Scottish blend. Either way, it is a mild-medium blend with a nice amount of Latakia that is balanced out with the cavendishes. In a way, it reminds me of a softer version of Hearth & Home Fusilier’s Ration. It’s not strong, but it is dark and smooth, and very enjoyable. My tin of PP needed a bit of drying time to make it easier to keep lit. The crumble cake was easy to break apart, and it burned well right down to the bottom.

If at first you dont succeed, try, try again
Plum pudding had an appealing description however my wife didn't like the smell. It was a bit harsh on the tongue but only just getting back into pipe smoking, i'm sure I will need to build up from "mild" before tackling a Medium/full tobacco. I did enjoy the Missouri Meerschaum Independence Day 2015

Lakakia....Mamma Mia!!!!!!
I had high hopes for this after reading reviews that rated it higher than Mississippi River. I like MR, but I thought the addition of the Cavendish in the Plum Pudding would be a neat addition. I was wrong. The tin note told me immediately that it was way heavier on the Latakia than MR. I like Latakia in small amounts. It was in nice semi-flakes. I smoked in in my green Mr. Brog Chocla pipe. It loaded and lit well. The first few puffs were a blast of Latakia followed by a big kick from the Orientals. It was almost harsh. It had none of the creamy smoothness of MR. Complex?...Yes, but in a very ham-handed way. It smoked all the way down and the flavor never changed. If you are a fan of big, bold, in-your-face Latakia and Oriental blends, you'll love this. As for me...I prefer the more subtle and refined MR. To each, their own.

Tried a couple of different English blends, never really cared for them, more of an aromatic smoker, but after reading all the reviews on plum pudding, I bought a 2 oz tin. The smokie, spiciness reminded me of one my favorite cigars, I ordered a 8 oz tin.

This is lit, right?...I mean, I can see the smoke.
I smoke english as a rule. Been smoking a pipe for about 15 years. I don't know what it is about this offering. It hints at something spectacular but never really delivers. There doesn'seem to be much body or finish and has an airy, wispy quality about it. I suspect I'm jaded by too much latakia. Don't get me wrong, I suspect a person who is used to aromatics may find this quite compelling. I however, just kind of felt....meh? Just to warn the die hard bold english blend fans, I think you may be a bit disappointed with this one. It is quite obviously quality tobacco, just doesn't seem to have much oomph.

I like this as an all day smoke. It is good with the morning coffee all the way up to sunset! Plum Pudding has just the right amount of taste to keep me going. Give it a try, you just might start packing more bowls. Remember to prep it right, and this will burn nice for an enjoyable slow smoke. Most people will enjoy the smooth sweet/spice this has to offer!

One of the best.

A friend sent me a sample of PP a few weeks ago. After sampling, I had to have some for my rotation. Just got in my order of 8oz. of Plum Pudding. Had my first bowl last night, outstanding. Flavorful, smoky goodness. Smooth but enough "kick" to make me happy.

Tried Plum Pudding today, and agree with the other reviewers. After 2 bowls, I back ordered an 8oz tin. Great stuff!

This is definitely a top of the line English/Balkan mixture. It comes in a "Krumble Kake" which is perfect for a fast puffer like myself and it remains a cool flavorful smoke all the way to the end which, in the case of a #5 Dunhill is about 2 hours away. No pipe cleaners required and at the end your tongue does not feel like you've been eating flaming hot wings. Just a great rich tobacco flavor. This is what tobacco used to taste like back in the 60's. Can't speak for the bulk as I only order 8 oz cans.

Although not an every day smoke for me, this is a great blend. It's a fantastic mix of sweetness, boldness and smokiness. I was actually surprised when I realized that it doesn't seem to do nearly as well as SPC's Mississippi River.

Plum Pudding hit the mark for me! I am primarily a fan of English blends but this one is everything that I like. Just wonderful to sit and relax with a bowl of Plum Pudding. Keep it commin! Thanks, Joe!

I gotta say...this is a tough blend to describe, but an absolute great one. I ordered 2 ounces based on reviews. I went through it rather quickly because I really enjoyed it. Very smokey, nutty, a sweetness, and I do taste a saltiness. The only way I can describe this is in terms of trail mix. Eat a handful of a mixer of very heavily smoked salty peanuts and some raisins and I think your in the ball park of what this tastes like...IMHO of course. It's very tasty and I'm looking forward to having MUCH more of this on hand.

It was too harsh...so we mixed it with Trout Stream (50/50) which made it less harsh.

Tobacco arrived clumped together. I had to use a grinder to get it to where it was able to be smoked.

Absolutely delicious. This blend really surprised me. I was unprepared for the delicious taste experienced in all my pipes. The tin aroma is magnificent. I think Plum Pudding is an accurate description that fits this perfectly. Maybe it's the taste, but sometimes I get hungry after smoking this blend. Funny thing is I never eat plum pudding, but I sure do smoke it!

I originally tried Mississippi River as my first actual english blend, I was smoking aros like lane RLP-6. I ordered several tobaccos from this site and loved them all! Frog on the bayou, lane blwb. All great.. Kept hearing about plumb pudding and thought is try it. Only got an ounce... Bad idea... A week later I'm on here again getting 4 more ounces. Lol great stuff! I like it a bit better than MR but both from seattle pipe club are my two fav all day smokes! If you like MR or just love a complicated English blend go for it! Even if your new to english it's a great choice. Was for me.

This pipe tobacco is very good for what it is; smokey and spicy. Not really what I was looking for initially ( I like my tobaccos after a meal, so I like sweet tasting dessert like tobaccos. ) but I can't say it's a bad tobacco. If smokey and spicy is what you are after, look no further!

Delicious! It's not an aromatic, yet, it's not quite a non-aromatic either. Must be that "something extra." I love almost all Balkans and have only ever been slightly interested in "sweet smokes." This is my "desert" blend and it satisfies that ever so slight desire I have several times a week for a sweet experience, without sacrificing body and natural tobacco flavors.

I was on the hunt for english blends, and I bought 1/2 pound to sample since even if I was disappointed, I could still use it. Well after one pipe, I know that this is a grand slam home run. There are other tin brands that this competes with, and is more economical. It has the taste that I'm looking for, at bulk prices, I would most likely buy it by the pound. I will buy more of this as soon as I whittle down my stock a bit. Just the taste I was looking for, and at a price I like as well.

Being a Balkan fan this is probably one of the best. Latakia,Orientals and Virginia which lay in the background. Excellent!!

This is one of my favorites. Very tasty, tons of flavor and quite smooth. Great smoke indeed.

I feel this is a great way to get introduced to English/Balkan blends. If you like Mississippi River, but are looking for a little more beef to go with your meal, this baccy will fit the bill. This has got meat and potatoes written all over it. Some don't like it, but you wont know until you try it. There should be a Bronze Statue of Joe Lankford where people can sit and smoke his blends and pay tribute to a master blender.

Just recently I went to blends with Latakia and Perique mixed in, needless to say I am hooked on these flavors--To me Plum Pudding is a lot more exciting than Mississippi River and it has become one of my go to blends--I liked it so much I ordered 4lbs of it to avoid the dreaded "backorder", and to let it sit for 6 months or longer to see if it improves with age--Good Stuff in my opinion

Just an example as to how tastes can vary from person to person. I didn't like this one bit. It tasted like oily brine water to me.

If you like smoking Potpourri this is for you. Its been a year since I purchased 2oz. Out of the bag I tried it and separated the other ounce and cellered the rest for 6mo. The first ounce out of the bag smoked very floral with a hint of latakia. It smoked similarly in the cobs and meer. It got better at the bottom of a conical pipe where the latakia was more pronounced. The cellered half which I just finished was a bit more robust in latakia goodness but still maintained that floral quality. (I've bought a $15/lb bag of 'best of the rest' which also gave the same floral taste) I mixed some DunhillNightCap with Best of the Rest and got something very similar to the Plum Pudding. My preferred smokes are Irish flake and Brown Rope #4 with a daily smoke of Carterhall blends. I did not like Plum Pudding and will not order it again.

Plum Pudding is the perfect example of how one person's feast is another's famine. Simply read a sampling of the reviews for proof of this and the fact that reviews are...entertainment at best. I will not linger for long and offer up uninspiring analysis. I love the stuff and thank Joe for dreaming it up. I discovered it a couple of years ago when like many I began a useless quest to replace Penzance. It's not that venerable tobacco and I don't care. It's rich, tasty and satisfying. Whatever the "something extra" is is yummy!

love it can't wait to get more

Wow I'm the 1st to review? Well then, after tons of positive reviews on YouTube I decided to try a couple of ozs. This stuff came in one big 2oz chunk which I like. Smelled kinda of smokey with maybe raisin in the back? Anyway lit up and I was impressed. Smokey, spices peppery zing on my tongue but not overpowering and then a very mellow pipey sweetness sprinkled in. Was I blown away? No. Was I pleased? Yes. This tobacco is a hella good value compared to the $8-9 tins that are the same. I think with a couple months this blend will settle down nicely. I look forward to many nights 6 months from now on my patio enjoying plum pudding. Thanks P&C

I'm new to the world of English blends. I've tried some lighter blends and this is my first "full" English. Wow. This stuff is great. Smokey, woodsy with a nice spice to it. I get sweet notes and nutty notes. I really like this stuff. I got some Miss. River too, which I've yet to try but I have high hopes as Plum Pudding is quite nice. I will definitely be ordering more of this to cellar. Thanks P&C and Seattle Pipe Club for this wonderful blend.
