These narrow brushes are ideal for scrubbing out the shank of almost any pipe. Just dip the brush in a pipe cleaning fluid or liquor and run through the shank of your pipe. They can also be used in the tenon end of the stem. Follow up with an absorbent pipe cleaner to get your pipe back to smoking sweet.
Dip these suckers in 90% alcohol, and they really get the gunk out of the shank. After cleaning mine with pipe cleaners 4-5 times, these brushed knocked loose so much more. A winner in my book.
These brushed work great the bristles are stiff enough to hold up to giving the pipe a good buffing. But then I'd buy them in assorted strengths of bristles, I still haven't gone the route of a dedicated pipe per tobacco or types aromatics as opposed to the non. I'm sure it makes some sense to having a specific pipe for the different varieties of tobaccos. But to get back to the original thought buying these brushes was a good move.
Works how it's supposed to.
Does the job. I like the bristle stiffness, the protected tip, and the flexibility of the brush. Cleans bent shanks as easily as straight shanks. I would like a longer one for churchwarden stems. Still, it works on long shanks, up to nearly 13 inches, by inserting from both ends .
gotta have em on hand, they work great, just need to remember to use them more often. In a pinch, dip em in brandy and they do a great job of cleaning and freshening the pipe.
