Great price and a good mixer with my Smoker's Pride Whiskey . A better smoke than some other blends that cost much more.

I like to create my own blend, with this as a starter. However, the resealable bags do not reseal, so the tobacco will dry out if not moved to a different container

For the price, you can't beat anything from Smoker'S Pride. I bought the entire catalog and use them for various blends. The Smoker's pride brand leaves the room smelling pleasantly smokey. The tastes are pleasant by themselves or blended together.

I've always smoked Captain Black but, now being on a fixed income, I've found Smoker's Pride Black Cavendish to be very similar at a price that I can live with.

Bough as a less expensive substitute for Lane BCA. I can tell as light difference from BCA, but I plan to use this primarily for blending as keeping the BCA for use on its' own. This is one that I feel is worth trying for the savings if you like black cavendish. It has a good moisture level, not too wet or dry.

Lane Ltd. is known for some of the finest pipe tobaccos in the world, and several of the black cavendish tobaccos known by pipe smokers. Many don't know Smoker's Pride Black Cavendish comes from Lane also, or that it's significantly cheaper than just about any other Black Cavendish on the market. Put it next to most of the mor expensive ones and I'll bet you can't tell the difference in taste or quality.

I mix it with Cherry Cavendish and enjoy it for an affordable every day smoke.

One of the first pipe tobaccos I purchased. It is even better than the old days. Not too much vanilla. Very aromatic. Burns slow. Toasty at times. At the price, can stand with any of the major manufacturers; better than some higher priced brands. Nicotine is low. An old favorite still going strong!

The quality is the same, always a mild smoke!

Due to the larger cut of the tobacco, best to smoke in a larger bowl diameter pipe unless you 'dice' it which I tried and works. Not a bad black cavendish with a hint of chocolate to sweeten. Don't know where the vanilla comes into the mixture. Needs a little air drying before smoking (moisture). No bite. As far as room note, both non smokers and smokers agree "you either like it or hate it."

I purchased the Black Cavendish by mistake, and I am glad I did, It is a great smoke for me and is fast becoming one of my go to tobaccos. The price was great, and the service was excellent. I will be buying more.

This is my everyday, long haul smoke, which I have smoked for years. It's mild, sweet but not cloyingly so. Has a pleasant room note I'm told. And it's a damned good value in a cost per ounce comparison.

Very good tobacco. It is not real strong nor does it give you a hot or burn taste. I prefer it over any I have tried. It will remain lit as you smoke it. I like the aroma it produces and the cost is comparable to the other brands.

This really is an excellent purchase. This tobacco is a great place to have noobie pipe smokers start, as it's very pleasant and doesn't bite. The bag note gives rich, figgy tones, which does carry over to the smoke. You get a nice, thick smoke with a very pleasant room note. It's a very uncomplicated smoke, not much complexity - this is why I don't give it 5 stars. This is an EXCELLENT all day smoke, especially at the rock bottom price. If you're a fan of BCA, this is a great alternative at an excellent price. I don't smoke this every week, but I do consider it the best smoke for the dollar in my collection, and one I enjoy regularly.

Best non bite tobacco ever.

I've been smoking this brand of Black Cavendish, usually cut with another Smokers Pride flavor, for about 20 years now. It's flavorful and smokes cool and long-lasting. Unfortunately none of my local vendors carry it. Luckily for me, Pipes & Cigars does, and substantially cheaper than I could buy it elsewhere. The service was quick and without issues.

Very good smoke and a perfect substitute for my daily Cavendish when it's sold out and at half the price. I will definitely be keeping this on hand. Aroma is welcoming and sweet and the mixture and taste is that of vanilla and chocolate somehow married together yet separate with the occasional hint of licorice.

I won't repeat all the superlatives that have been heaped upon this excellent value blend, but do want to point to another quality not really touched on--the delicious flavor of the burley-based cavendish. Part way down the bowl, as the casing flavors recede slightly into the background, the true flavor of the tobacco begins to shine with a delightful nuttiness. For me, this is what makes this blend truly stand out. A value blend with a remarkable enjoyment factor, it deserves its high rating.

There are several excellent Black Cavendish value tobaccos around nowadays (and some not so valued). To my taste, it is the best all around tobacco made, and my "go to smoke." However, the difference in these various black offerings comes down mostly to the casings, I think. For those who love vanilla, Super Value brand is just what it says (as are a few others) -- a super value. But for those like me who don't much care for vanilla and prefer chocolate (in tobacco and ice cream) Smoker's Pride gets the medal. Vanilla is the usual casing and that makes Smoker's Pride the outlier. For this reason, among others, price being another, I think Smoker's Pride is the best buy around. Always smooth, non-biting and low cost, you can't beat it, as a straight smoke or a mixer, IF you prefer the chocolate casing. Not only is it a wonderful all day smoke, it is, ounce for ounce, the lowest cost I've found. I'd give it 10 stars if I could. And the low prices and quick shipping at Pipes And Cigars deserves at least 10 stars. Altogether a great deal.

I primarily smoke Black Cavendish pipe tobacco. I have smoked quite a few different brands. After reading the reviews of the the Smokers Pride Black Cavendish decided to buy it and try it. Extremely happy with it. Smokes better than all other brands I have tried in the past, including more expensive brands. For sure will buy again in the future. Good quality, good smoke, low price.

I use this Black Cavendish in a blend with Smokers Pride Mellow or Classic Taste. I mix them 50/50 then add a pinch of Latakia. The Cavendish mellows out the blend, the Latakia adds a nice room presence and flavor, and I can smoke the blend all day with no bite. It is a great anytime smoke. I think Smokers Pride is the best bang for the buck, reasonable prices for a very good product.

It has a stronger after bite than what I like but the taste of it overall is great and the atmosphere it leaves and pleasant smell is worth the stronger after taste and price was great.

It has a semi sweet flavor that is pronouncedly evident in the blend. While the color appears to lend itself to being harsh, I find it quite smooth. Great Price/Great product

An excellent choice in budget brand pipe tobacco. Full bodied flavor without any perceivable bite. Slightly drier than most bagged tobaccos, so it burns somewhat cleaner and there's no "gurgle" on the bowl at the end of a smoke. Also this means you are getting 12 oz of tobacco, not water.

It taste a little more coarse than the 201 Cavendish tobacco, but its not bad. Very aromatic, and relatively smooth. It feels a little on the dry side but less fluid build up in the pipe.

Absolute best bang for your buck I've tried so far. My search for a bargain tobacco that tastes great is over. The cut is not completely even like your more expensive brands but it smokes even and great. Highly recommend you give this one a shot if you haven't yet.

As an avid pipe smoker of 47 years, I have tried all the major brands in the black cavendish flavor. For the cost, this is the best I have found and the flavor and smoothness of the smoke is excellent.

Very little difference between BCA and Smokers Pride Black Cavendish,...except price. It is a bargain that does not sacrifice quality for price. Excellent by itself or as a blender. It mixes well with everything. I like to mix it with Lane Vanilla Black Cavendish. Stays lit and never bites. The room note is appealing to most everyone.

Love the flavor and I mix it with my cherry to give me a really smooth smoke. Everyone seems to like the smell when I light up

After trying many fine tobaccos, I found the great ones were well above my pay-grade. Then, I tried the alternatives or 'match' blends; most were not even close. So, I figured why not would save some real money and make my own? To my taste, black cav gave me the mild base I needed to start. Then, I simply added other value brands to add the top flavor or profile I want... it worked! Now I save and enjoy what like without the heavy price tag. Though it may not be for everyone, it works well for me.

I use Black Cavendish with Smoker's Pride Natural for my everyday/all day smoke. I use a 1:1 ratio for a great performing smoke throughout the day. Great compliments on the room presence as well. For more of an English blend I use a 2:1 Cavendish and Natural blend with a pinch of latakia. A great tasting evening or special smoke. I have found that Smoker's Pride is a great value and very consistent from bag to bag. I have tried many other tobaccos and experimented with blending, but Smoker's pride delivers a great smoke at a great price. There might be better tobaccos out there but in my mind Smoker's Pride is an everyman smoke at an everyman price.

I am a fairly new pipe smoker and tried SP Black Cavendish on a whim. this is now my daily Go-To tobacco. Mellow, tasty, and never, ever bites.

Love it!!!!! For the price and flavor both!!! Mixed a small batch with the vanilla and it's amazing. Also mixed up and big batch with the vanilla and mellow for a daily smoke and I couldn't be any more satisfied with the result. First of all, nothing ever gets a 5ive from me because everything is subject to some improvement/enhancement. That said, this 4our star rating is well deserved. SPBC is now my go-to tobacco; smooth, no bite, burns very well, and no nic hit. Room note is pleasant and there is not goo in the bottom of the bowl; nothing but fine gray ash. I will make no mention of tastes because I have found via other ratings that not everyone tastes the same things in the exact same tobacco. I can only invite you to do yourself a favor and give SPBC a try and taste your own tastes.

This is the best value black cav on the market, period. You can pay a LOT more with darn little improvement in the quality of your product. I use it for blending but every other day or so I'll smoke a bowl of SPBC alone. A little goopy, but hey it's black cavendish. Lane BCA will cost more, but the two are very similar. Not overly sweet, just smooth creamy smoke.

I have smoked this tobacco for a number of years and have not found any bulk tobacco that can compare. It is very cool burning with no bite. I highly recommend this for the smoker that smokes daily.

Continues to be the best value Black Cavendish that I've smoked and is regularly included in my rotation along with the more expensive Lane Ltd, bulk aromatics. An all-day smoke with a smooth, rich, creamy taste, no bite and a nice room note. Easy to light, stays lit, smokes cool down to a fine white ash. Just a light draw produces plenty of smoke.

This makes a good smoke when mixed with a Turkish red.

If you like Lane’s BCA this is a good, less expensive (especially when on sale), alternative. Seems to smoke a little faster and there’s a little something missing (?), but the basic same great BCA taste. Try some.. PS.
