Stanwell Vanilla is their most popular blend and has been for ages. They've combined sweet bright Virginias, mellow Burleys, a bit of earthy Turkish and a steamed, fermented black Cavendish with a warm luxurious vanilla flavor that tastes every bit as good as it smells. Smooth as silk, Stanwell Vanilla is enjoyed the world over.
This is my favorite of all the Stanwell blends. Good flavor, great room note. Burns clean and cool. Classic Vanilla, and it always gets me compliments when I smoke it.
Disappointing. That's putting it nicely. It's one of the cheapest tinned vanilla aromatics for a reason. Is it the worst ever? No. But there are many other better quality vanillas available. Stanwell leaves this weird, almost sour aftertaste on my tongue. They must use an unusual ingredient in the casing. The actual vanilla flavor is ok, but it is obviously masking the taste of low quality tobacco.
If you are trying this one you need to really like vanilla. The vanilla casing overwhelms as soon as you open the tin. This carries throughout the smoke as the vanilla flavoring drowns out the tobacco. I've tried it in both Briars and cobs, with filters and without with the same result. If you live for vanilla you may enjoy it, otherwise I'd suggest an aromatic with a more subtle casing, like CAO Moontrance. Having said that, it smokes nicely and fully, though a little hot. Little tongue bite and leaves a nice white ash. I'm going to keep my remaining stash for friends who are new to pipe smoking as it should be easy for even a beginner to spot the aromatic qualities in this one.
My all-time favorite. I've enjoyed trying all kinds of tobys, especially several in my favorite category - Vanilla aromatics , but I keep coming back to Stanwell. Smooth, minimal bite, full aroma in the tin, in the bowl & in the room. Superb taste. Peter Stockebye Vanilla is my 2nd favorite, considerably less cost. Great service & value from P&C! Thanks!
