made for mixing use sparingly
mint! Mint!! MINT!!! holy minty mintiness. this stuff is so strong, really strong. i got it to mix with chocolate and in the end it did make a good peppermint patty/ thin mint type smoke. i slowly added more and more choc till i reached a tolerable mintiness, the ratio ended up being like 1:11. if you pack a bowl of this stuff straight get ready to get hit in the face with a candy cane dipped in Binaca wrapped in mint leaves. i wish this stuff was a little weaker on the mint front. did i mention this stuff is really minty.

STRONG ALONE, Better mixed with something
Definitely "MINTY", Great for mixing and a little goes a long way. If smoked alone, be ready to get hit hard with the mint. Sutliff Chocolate Mousse(3x) and Sutliff Frosty Mint(1x), together makes a cool minty taste that's not overpowering. ****Peppermint Patty***** I give 5-Stars, because, it is what it says it is and nothing less, nothing more.

Great aroma but intense flavor
Fantastic aroma out of the bag but use caution a little goes a long way.

Too minty on its own.

Excellent for blending, but a tad too strong on its own
A very potent mint flavour, best for mixing I think. I had only part of a bowl of the stuff and knew it needed to be mixed at least 1:1 with something else. I personally blended it 2:1:1 with Sutliff Chocolate Mousse : Sutliff Chocolate Truffle : Sutliff Frosty Mint. Let it age in a few vacuum sealed jars for about three months so far to let the blend settle more. A friend opened the first jar just the other week and was so impressed with it that I was all but forced to let him keep it. I'd personally like to let it sit longer to age, but clearly it delivers a very good mint chocolate experience.

One of my favourites!
Frosty mint is great! And yes it really does have a mint flavour and a very nice room note as well. It burns well and the moisture level is perfect. If you like mint and you are in the market for a good tobacco this is a good one to get!

Excellent Tobacco
I first purchased an ounce of this to try something new. The taste of this tobacco is smooth and pleasant. It is not too minty but provides a good taste that allows for an easy time in enjoying each bowl.

Minty!!!
As an aromatic smoker, I appreciate when the advertised flavor is noticeable in the smoke and not just the aroma. Sutliff Frosty Mint has the corner on that market. It is by far the most noticeable flavor that I have found in pipe tobacco. I like it, but it might be too minty for some. Keep that in mind on this one.

A mistake
I intended to order a Cavendish blend. I will be returning the frosty mint as soon as possible.

Works great in a 1:5
Works great in a 1:5 ounce ratio with the sutliff chocolate. Otherwise it's simply to strong

Minty Chocolate and Minty Vanilla
I purchased SFM after reading the reviews. I took the advice of several and have found this to be a great mixing tobacco for those hot evenings here in Arizona. I tried the SFM mixed .5oz with 2oz of Sutliff Chocolate Mousse and found it to be a very nice cooling change of pace. My favorite mix is Lanes BCA mixed 50/50 with Lanes Vanilla Black Cavendish....just had to experiment. I added 1 oz of SFM to 4 oz of the 50/50 mix above. WOW!!! what a nice COOL mellow smoke on a warm evening. I have the luxury of dedicating pipes to a particular tobacco, so now have pipes reserved for both mixes.

Sorry to mentholy, thought it would be more of a real mint.

A little to frosty
This tobacco was not very good. The frosty edge was too intense for me. I threw most of it away.

WOW powerful stuff
It is very unlike me to buy something without reading the reviews but this time I saw this and thought it sounded like it would be something different and bought it right off. I received it today and saw and that it was double bagged and could still smell it when I opened the box. I packed a bowl in my favorite pipe and bam I felt what I would later read about the mint truck hitting you in the mouth. It's easily the strongest flavored tobacco I have ever tried. The mint is delicious however. Just be prepared, I wasn't. I do agree with several others that one it will ghost your pipe big time so you might want to try it in a cheap cob first incase you don't like it you can just throw the pipe away..I can't taste anything but mint now in my favorite pipe. Two I can't taste other notes in the tobacco just a frosty mint but when mixed with Sutliff chocolate moose it tastes like a peppermint patty, that's probably how I'll end up using it. That and whenever I need a palette cleniser but next time I'll use a cob. Just hope I can deghost my favorite pipe.

GREAT STUFF
It has a very strong mint flavor period. But a pinch of this Sutliff Frosty Mint (SFM) placed on top of any other tobacco will make a nice change of pace smoke. I like to place a little SFM on older, even stail tobacco. Also I save all of the loose ends and the last part of any tobacco pouches and mix them all together and then place a little SFM on top of that also for a change of pace smoke. It also leaves a fresh tastes in your mouth like no other.

Frosty's an Understatement!
This stuff is POWERFUL. On my first order, it came double-bagged and when I saw that, I knew it was gonna be strong. When I want that minty feeling, I mix it 1 part to (at least) 6 with Lane Limited's Burley and Black. It really stays in the forefront but I sorta like an overpowering mint taste. It smokes a little harsher (cough cough) than expected but is very cooling. You would not want to smoke this by itself. Perfect for blending! Taste is reminiscent of 'iced spearmint', but its frosty notes really give a feel of peppermint. Just a feel! Brrr!

Believe the hype!
I wanted to know what all the hype was about when I decided to buy this. I had read reviews bragging that this was the best mint around and that it was like a mint truck hitting you and it was overpowering. Well, despite having read all of this, upon first pull from my carefully packed bowl, I was stunned and surprised. My whole mouth and lips were cool and mint kissed. I was wasn't exactly ready. The mint truck had indeed smashed into my face... and parked there for the duration of the entire bowl... then remained for a short while after. So 1) This is powerful mint. I you aren't a fan of strong mint and it's cooling properties, this isn't the ride I suggest you hitch. It's a complete mindf**k because it cools your mouth when your mind is ready for the heat of the smoke. 2)I'm not sure I considered it "overpowering" but i can see where those sentiments can come from and 3) I can believe it when people say this is the best of what's around for mint. Honestly, if there is a stronger mint, I'm not sure I want it. I mean, this is plenty powerful and a man(or even a woman) has got to know their limitations! To explain my 4 star rating: This is a cool, smooth and interesting smoke to say the least. It boasts of mint, and you get it and then some. For that it gets 3 stars from me. The description talks of chocolate, but I got none. I searched far and wide for a hint of chocolate but, alas, my palate could detect nary a trace. The 4th star is earned by my desire to repeat the experience and the fact that it has utility for the future for being mixed with other delicious flavors to make things interesting.

The one blend I always have to have on hand, but be warned it needs its own dedicated pipe
Absolutlye a must for any new pipe smoker. Lets you keep practicing even after the throat got screwy. The say time is the only healer for tounge bite, but I think Frosty Mint makes it even better. Especially great on a cold Chistmas day. But also a nice Christmas in July present to yourself. You NEED dedicated pipe to fosty mint, or everything else will taste like mint afterward.

Frosty mint the Legendary
As an avid pipe smoker, I have had the privilege of smoking some very fine tobaccos over the years and this is by far one of the best mint tobaccos on the market. It smokes cool and smooth. Normally I feel like mint can have some strong tongue bite , but not this one. The flavor throughout The entire bowl is extraordinary and stays strong the entire bowl. This tobacco when paired with Sutliff "chocolate. Mousse" literally tastes like a thin mint. I highly recommend this tobacco to anyone has an inkling to try.

Balkan Icehouse
Try something new? This blend is surprisingly refreshing. I believe Sutliff Frosty Mint, and Cyprian Latakia, complement each other well. It’s like, a tall glass of iced tea with a sprig of Spearmint on a hot summer’s day; or a Mint Julep sweating in your hands, beneath your wide brimmed Panama, at Churchill Downs. Balkan Icehouse Blend: 1- Part Sutliff Frosty Mint To: 5- Parts of your favorite Balkan style blend (or call experts at P&C to create, ‘My Own Blend’). Adjust to taste and effect, so that one is not overpowering the other. The balance seems a, “thin red line,” but most enjoyable once that balance is met. It is better the 1st 1/3 of the pipe, as the mint flavor seems to lose traction beyond that point. For that reason, it will smoke better in a small pipe. Grecian lamb chops, with mint jelly? Maybe that’s stretching things a bit, but, however you describe it, it is a pleasurable smoke for a hot summer’s day, or an after dinner mint.

Remise en Bouche
Native Americans and indigenous peoples throughout the world have long recognized the healing properties of mint (mentha). One of the healing properties of mint is the soothing of burns. Mint has long been used between courses in French cuisine as a palate cleanser to remove the taste of the previous course of fair from the tongue. I detect, among true pipe enthusiast, a disdain for mint/menthol flavored tobacco. It seems a novelty, or relegated to the lowly realm of the cigarette smoker. It is little wonder this attitude prevails, if you have sampled most of the mint/menthol tobacco blends offered to the pipe smoker. For some reason the menthol flavor that holds up well in a cigarette, deteriorates quickly in a pipe and becomes harsh, acrid, and bitter. So, I was intrigued when I read reviews of Sutliff Frosty Mint, on P&C, where reviewers stated the mint not only held up well, but dominated. Fred Hanna, in his excellent book on the pleasures of pipe smoking, ‘The Perfect Smoke: Gourmet Pipe Smoking for Relaxation and Reflection,’ states that there is no palate cleanser for pipe smoking, and that once the tongue is burnt by too hot a smoke, the only cure is time. I’m afraid he may be correct. But, if there is anything that may sooth and restore the tongue, I believe it to be mint. It can’t hurt, and besides, some of us just enjoy mint. Remise en Bouche Blend (Palate Cleanser Blend) - Everything sounds more elegant in French, don’t it? 4 Parts mild Virginia/Burley blend (call P&C and let the experts guide you through, “My Own Blend,” to discover a blend that will pair well) To: 1 Part Sutliff Frosty Mint Adjust to taste and effect. You may want to dedicate a, 'small,' pipe to mint r/t ghosting of flavor. Try Sutliff Frosty Mint. Don’t be afraid, you might like it. We’ll keep it our little secret. We wouldn’t want to get black-balled from the pipe club. ;-)

Strong and refined
I was impressed with this product. It has a strong mint essence with other subtle notes...maybe vanilla and/or chocolate. This tobacco burns exceptionally well with tons of rich smoke. The mouth feel is full and comforting. It's a nice tobacco for the occasional treat.

Creamy After Dinner Mint , Excellent !
Excellent blend, for me this is a very relaxing smoke with more of an after dinner mint taste, I get a strong creamy mint smoke from this that does mellow as the bowl burns, I am a mint lover so this is a stellar and tasteful find, great mint taste with a mellow cream mixed in, this is in my everyday rotation and shall remain ;)

Got hit by a mint truck!!
If your looking for an overpowering mint flavor then this is it. Got this to try and was almost knocked over by the wave of mint the erupted from the bag. Tried it straight and couldn't make it through the bowl. The mint felt like it was freezing my insides. I have been trying to get my dad to kick the cigarettes and this might be the ticket. He is a two pack a day menthol smoker. This blended with some vanilla tobacco makes a nice substitute for his cigarettes. He smokes lights so I did a 1/5 Mint to 4/5 SPS Archduke Ferdinand. Turned out well. I call it Archduke of Mint Town.

Don't be afraid :)
Love it. My most used tobacco. I cut it a little with some mild burley, but don't be afraid of this stuff. Intense? Yeah I suppose, but still very enjoyable.

Mint and Chocolate Yes, Perfect Maybe...
Just OK. Fine minty flavor and you can taste the hint of Chocolate, however there is a heavier tobacco taste than I like. I am a cigar smoker and I tend to find most pipe tobacco to be a little raunchy and cheap tasting. However Sutliff Vanilla Custard is smooth, smooth, smooth. Would Really recommend. http://www.pipesandcigars.com/pipe-tobacco/72588/sutliff-vanilla-custard/#p-118991

You can't get much more minty than this. But you also get a really super-smooth smoke out of it as well. No complaints from me! I may need to order more because my fiance likes it too!

Customer Testimonials
Got 2oz of this stuff, packed a bowl in an old Savinelli, and found the mint to be WAY over the top. Borderline nasty. Plus I thought I permanently ruined my pipe. I NEVER found anything that ghosts a pipe like this one. 3X worse than Benjamin Hartwell Evening Stroll. I smoked ONE bowl and could taste mint for 6 bowls after. If you're smoking this straight, use a cob. BUT... then I took an empty mason jar and tossed in 1/3 frosty mint, 1/3 Mac Baren 7 Seas Gold, and 1/3 Sutliff Mild Burley, and you know what? Pretty damn good!! Been smoking it all day today. I think next time I'll put even less frosty mint in. But really, really nice. It's a little disgusting straight, but I seriously think I'll always keep some of this around for blending. It takes away that "dirty mouth" feeling you get with some tobaccos and adds a fresh element. Perfect for summer. This should be sold as a blending tobacco. Mixing 15-20% of this w/ your favorite blend is perfect for a refreshing summer smoke. Gave me exactly what I was looking for when I bought McClelland Club - Vanilla Ice (but didn't get).
At first, I was bit overwhelmed by the mint, but I must admit that it is growing on me, especially since I'm a menthol cigarette smoker. No tongue bite. Good all the way to the bottom of the bowl.
My fellow pipers, this is very minty all I could say is WOW!! SO what I did was took a half ounce of the mint and mixed 1 ounce of the sutliff chocolate supreme and a half ounce of the sutliff black vanilla and it was very nice smoke, kinda gave a mint chocolate aroma.
Just the right amount of mint. I absolutely love it. I got this and the could smell it through the unopened box AND it was double bagged. Very nice. Not too strong, for me at least. But I love mint, my toothpaste burns other people's mouths. If you like a strong mint, definitely get this.
This is REALLY minty. The effect is lingering and powerful. SFM can easily be blended with another cut of your choosing and you won't be missing out on any of the minty coolness.
I should have realize the potency when it arrived double bagged! Wow -- as someone stated below it's like smoking an Altoid. Simply too much for me. This one will go to the back of the cellar.
A delicious and refreshing blend, Sutliff Frosty Mint will leave you craving more.
I'm a fan of mint. Mint gum, mint cookies, mint ice cream, etc. So I gave this one a try because someone recommended it. It's actually pretty good stuff. Nice and minty. If it was any mintier it would be too strong. It's almost like smoking an Altoid! LOL Pretty smooth and I got no tongue bite. This is the best mint pipe tobacco I've tried so far.
If you like mint then you're going to like this blend. Upon opening the bag you can smell an intense mint aroma. The humidity of the bag I got was just right. I didn't need to dry the tobacco. It lights and stays lit evenly throughout the bowl. Even on the charring light your mouth fills with a minty flavor. Smoking the pipe is like eating a York peppermint pattie, but without much sweetness. My mouth filled with the minty flavor. The mint is so overwhelming that you don't taste much tobacco. From what my girlfriend tells me the room note is sweet and very pleasant. I like mint, it reminds me back in the day when I smoked Newports. To me it's a great morning or after dinner smoke -or if you ever feel like you have cottonmouth, lol. I will be ordering more.
