Sutliff ZBC

An old favorite is back! Sutliff ZBC was a longtime favorite at P&C, but for some reason, we stopped ordering it. When we realized the lapse, we placed an order right away. This is a classic American black Cavendish made of Green River Burley which is toasted, then steamed for 24 hours. A combination of rich flavors is added to give this a terrific room note, and the flavor has hints of deep vanilla and caramel, along with dark fruit, and just a hint of spice. Easy on the tongue, this tobacco produces thick clouds of smoke and is amazingly satisfying - a true all-day tobacco.

A slightly zesty black cavendish
A slightly zesty black cavendish that burned a bit hotter than I like. Not a taste pleaser like the former LL VBC (very sorry to see it’s no longer available). I ended up blending my order with Sutliff Black Vanilla Cavendish and Creme Brûlée for a much better smoke. Great flavor and room note. Probably would not order this one again and would get Sutliff BVC instead.

My favorite blend so far!
Very wonderful tobacco. This is my favorite so far. Going to be a regular. Nice moisture content, great bag aroma, no bite, great sweet and smooth vanilla flavor with a nice sweet & subtle room note. Nice slow and cool burn. This is the best black cavendish I have had (sutliff chocolate mousse is close 2nd). If you like Black Cav and vanilla, I don't see why you wouldn't LOVE this.

This could easily become my go to tobacco
Nice cool smoke, hints of Vanilla. Just ordered more even though I have another order pending already. A bit moist at first but after letting it dry a bit there was no problem. No bite whatsoever and a nice even burn. Sutliff has quickly become my favorite.

I'm a big fan of Sutliff
There is such variety in this brand I was unsure of what to expect, although I knew it would be good. It was certainly heavier than I expected, and was a little moist when received. I aired it out for a single day. It was a great smoke, burned cooler than anticipated, and left a nice room note. I wouldn't recommend as an everyday, but certainly as an all day smoke. Very good for camping or working in the garage, as it can be snuffed out easily and re-lit.

Opportunity for choices
First, kudos to P&C for their excellent customer service and plethora of products. My "go to" day to day staple is Lane's Vanilla Black Cavendish. Fortunately we live in a world with almost limitless choices and opportunities to experience a change of pace now and then. Sutlff has consistently offered a robust range of tobacco that give Lane a run for their money, albeit, often at a slightly higher price point. Occasionally it is worth it to pay a little extra.

Tasty and strong
In terms of aromatic tobacco this is stronger than most but has has great flavor. Not an all day tobacco but a great companion to a cup of coffee in the morning!

A Surprisingly Unique Black Cavendish Blend
Sutliff ZBC completely changed my view of black cavendish blends, which I have too frequently found to be bright balloons of too-bright aroma and flavoring held together by a thin-tasting thread of tobacco flavor. Not so with this one! The flavoring is sensational, present but not potent blend with vanilla taking the lead but not overshadowing a wonderful holiday pudding taste in the background. My wife tried a few puffs as well (she is a connoisseur of cigars and now is turning her interest to pipe tobaccos) and also noted hints of anisette and licorice. The black cavendish stands as a firm but quiet sentry holding up the flavors beautifully to provde a rich smoking experience. This cavendish has teeth, but never bears them--it gives the perfect presence and body to the flavorings. The other quality I admire about this blend is the superlative, almost velvety smoothness it maintains throughout. Even smoking hard and to the very end of the bowl, it maintained an unflappably smooth demeanor. By the way, Sutliff ZBC is also superb as a blending agent. I mixed up a batch with one half of the Sutliff, one-quarter light English blend, and one-quarter of half sungrown Burley and half an aromatic Burley blend. We named it the It's a Good Day Blend and it is sensational!

Friendly and subtle smoke for an aromatic
I really would like to give an extra half-star because it is good at what it does. I got a dark fruit in the unburned tobacco which i finally nailed down to raisin. The vanilla is very subtle, not like a yankee candle or something that crushes the life out of the room. It is a pleasant, cool smoke, even with my hamhanded techniques (long out of practice). I pick up something additional on the back end of the smoke. I thought it was toasted nut of some kind, but someone else said toasted coconut and that might be it. Room note reminds me a bit of my grandfather's blend, which makes me quite happy. My sister and I used to beg him to smoke a bowl for us.

Time will tell.
I acquired some ZBC for blending. I always smoke it straight a couple times to zero in on its qualities. This is a solid candidate for blending purposes; mello and not overly cased. I suppose time will tell how well it functions as a blending ingredient that improves everything it is blended with, as it ages. Only time will tell.

All Day Long!
Gotta admit, this has quickly become one of my favorite aromatics. A sweet (not to sweet) and cool smoke I found almost impossible to get any bite from (and I tried). The finish has slight notes of vanilla and toasted coconut. The room note is just as nice, my GF even mentioned this was one of her favorites as far as room notes go. It's slight sweet on the nose without being over powering. Sadly, I only ordered 1 ounce as I had never tried it and now find myself out and jonesing for more, waiting on P&C to get more in stock. I would recommend this to anyone who likes a nice cool, not too overpowering sweet smoke. This is an all dayer.

I really enjoyed it. Very smooth, smells nice, a cool smoke. I just ordered something else because I didn't see it listed. I'll order some next time I see it listed.
