As you continue the perique marries well with the red Kentucky and on a retro hale you can pick up the underlying mesquite smokiness. Actually very well behaved considering it's 60% perique. I didn't get much on the black cavendish but I did notice as you get farther down the bowl, everything just seemed to work. I enjoyed it with a cold glass of iced tea and used that to cleans the pallet. As far as room note, It's not going to win over the wife, however it's not bad. It reminded me of an old man I knew back in the 60's that smoked a twist tobacco with no flavoring. The smell is simply a nice pipe tobacco smell of years gone by. All in all not a bad smoke considering you are really only working with two tobaccos. The black cavendish is just there to help lend balance and keep the perique from taking over.
